Finally started an actual game, and decided to go with Vancouver instead of the usual TFC. Currently have a full 30 players on the team, with all of them on the senior team. Back-ups are reserve-elligible. As of May 26th: Hyndman is the first coach to go (one day ago) with Winter and Nicol also on the hot seat. Current record stands at 6-2-3. 20 points after 11 games is good enough for 3rd. 19 GF, 14 GA. Starting lineup when healthy (4-4-2): G: Cannon D L/C/C/R: Rochat, DeMerit, Boxall, Leathers (though I'm bringing in a Brazilian named Ramon to replace him at the next window) M L/C/C/R: Chiumiento, Koffie, Sebastian Alberto Battaglia (freebie) Leumir (returning fav from last year) S L/R: Hassli (2 goals in 9 games) and Jarju (3 in 7) Filled my team with newgens from the Residency, as well as the Candian-based PDL teams. Still a handful of 4+ star players on amateur contracts that I can't sign yet (all Canadian, too!) Dumped in the first round of the Canadian Championship by Montreal. Team fell apart for a stretch of 7 games or so and Chiumiento has only played 1 league game so far... Could be a rough year. Oh, and I HATE the new scouting system!!! Edit: May 27th and now Nowak's in the hot seat in Philly. Seems as though any spot lower than 4th in the conference brings this about. |

Yeah, I think I saw almost a dozen managers lose their jobs before the first season, many more in season 2. Good luck! Hassli gave me fits in Seattle. |

...and I'm done for now. Sitting in 3rd place and now I'm getting the "must win or fired" messages. At least 4 or 5 other teams have coaches on the hot seat, and we just reached June. I'll try again after the next patch... |

Vancouver, take III. It's now July 1st and I'm sitting tied for 1st with Seattle, with 2 games in hand. 10W, 2D and 5L, with 25GF and 21GA. Definitely not my dominant team from previous years! Won the Canadian Championship, currently in the semis of my Canadian-exclusive Supporter's Cup, facing Ottawa. TFC v Montreal in the other semi. Board has given me two extra coaches after I asked, though the quality of staff that I can afford is meh. All are 3 1/2 stars, with one 4. Transfers in ($0): James Chalk, Carlos Andre, Adam Street, Danilo Rios, Leumir, Danilo Ferreira, Neven Blazevic (newgen from Thunder Bay Chill) Bryce Alderson Transfers out ($0): Khalfan, Morfaw, Boxall, Nolly, Mitchell, Janicki, Vagenas, Harris, Salinas Top player: Camilo (used as a sub due to low stamina) with a 7.24. 9 goals in 17 games. Underachiever: Jarju with a 6.61 as a striker. 2 goals in 15 games. Close behind is Cannon with a 6.67. No firings as of yet, though Bruce Arena is on the hot seat with LA sitting 3rd in the West and Donovan off to Bayern. |

Oh, crap...Thorington's about to come back from injury, and I don't have anywhere near the cap room for him (not that I want him on my team, mind you.) C'mon FMRTE...I need that update! In total, that's over $300k in cap room being eaten up by injured players that I wasn't able to leave off of my initial squad registration (Salinas and Harris both had short-term injuries, costing me $125k in guaranteed contracts!) Made SI aware of the problem, so here's to hoping that it'll be fixed in the next patch! |

Continuing on... Used FMRTE to have Thorrington's contract expire before he returned from injury, so his salary is no longer a concern. September 1, 2011: Bruce Arena is the first coaching victim of the year, being fired on August 28th with LA sitting 6th in the West and having lost both CCL games. Competitions: MLS- sitting 2nd in the west, 5 points behind Seattle with 4 games in hand. Record of 15W, 4D and 5L with 43GF and 29GA. CCL- 2 wins out of 2, including a 2-1 away win over Pumas thanks to Jarju...who injured himself during the game for two months. NCC- champions. Supporter's Cup (custom)- champions after defeating TFC 3-2 on agg. Transfers: In- Roberto Ferreira (Canadian 16y.o. newgen) for a friendly match Out- almost lost Chumiento for $750k to Livorno, but he rejected their offer Notable players: Danilo Rios is the best at a 7.22 in all comps. 4G and 16A in 29 games. Camillo with a 7.15 and 12 in 25. Jarju caught fire finally before his injury, up to a 7.1 with 12 in 26. Cannon's still the weak link, with a 6.75. Definitely looking for a replacement after the season. Notes: As of 8/24, the board has opened up the rest of the world to my scouts. Didn't even ask for it! Montero leads the league with 20G, Zakuani leads the league with 7.5 rating. |

Haven't checked out their PA's, but I have a list of 15 or so players with 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 potential. Typically stated as "as good as" DeMerit, Hassli or Jarju, generally. I'd venture that should put them around the 120-130 range. |

Gutted. After coming back from a 2-0 loss away to SJ, came home and routed them 7-2 to advance to the WC final, against Seattle. Led 2-0 at one point, 3-2 going into the 90th...and lost 4-3 in extra time. |

Apparently you can now edit a country's youth rating in the editor. I guess it's too late for this save, but maybe next one you can bring Canada's up a bit. |

The coder and I have been discussing this and I have to be honest, I'm not sure what the actual answer to this situation is. A player on a guaranteed deal (or not) cannot be waived while injured. That much I know. Players (based on tenure alone) get guaranteed deals as of the March 1 date in terms of cap hits, but I think under the CBA they are gteed anyways the money if they have completed the requisite number of years for their age. Thus, would Thorrington be able to be waived/excluded at any point? Injured players DEFINITELY count to the cap, thus, they would need to be included as gteed players, right? Am I missing something? It's not convenient, but I think it might actually be correct. |

I was having this discussion with the MLS coder. Because the injury occured before the squad registration date, I don't believe the player's salary counts against the cap until he returns from injury. Otherwise you run into the same problem I had with Harris and Salinas, who both had minor injuries at the time of registration, and ended up eating over $100,000 in cap space because I couldn't release them when I wanted (I never wanted them on my squad to begin with.) Even though the team would still have to pay the player his wages, I don't believe his cap hit would apply seeing as to how he hasn't officially been registered. In this way, when Thorrington returned from injury I would then have to decide whether or not register him (and his salary) or waive him (free of charge, considering I never actually named him to my team/squad.) |
