The Gold Cup is now up and running. Data discussion of the 16 nations welcomed, especially the Caribbean nations who are sometimes neglected in the FM database. Cuba are another country whose players are not well researched, so any info on that country's players would be welcomed, even if it is only their preferred foot! That could include individual player attributes, Home Reputation rankings (which help determine who is picked for national teams in FM) and the factual international appearances and goals data that we will ihnclude in FM2012. FM2012 will be shipped with all player international data being correct as at the end of the 2011/12 season - ie after the Gold Cup is completed. Therefore when each nation is eliminated, a list of the latest caps/goals info for that country's squad would be very useful. Oh yes, and a word from me. I'm Gripper, work for Sports Interactive on the English database but am always interested in the worldwide data. Let's make this an interesting thread. Afterall, everyone here will be watching this tournament and having opinions about the action they are witnessing. |

Is there any desire to have the Cuban national team only call up domestic-based players or is that too political in the wrong direction for SI? It is weird to see some American-born dual-nationality Cuban regens get called up. Unlike the Jong Tae-Sae situation with North Korea, this would not happen in Cuba. |

Isn't it actually illegal for the Cuba NT to call up foreign based players? |

I don't think its illegal, but they certainly don't do it. I was just wondering if SI didn't know that or if it was too political for them to include. It would be kind of fun if a bunch of players defected during each tournament. |

A few years ago in the Sports Interactive forums I brought up the issue of sending my scout out to the Caribbean and he went to Cuba, and Aljarov responded a few posts later saying all of the previous posts had issues that were "either fixed or in the works." Is there currently any special relationship in the game between the U.S. and Cuba? I could see the developers not wanting to go down that road and having to program in weird relationships between nations or clubs or whatever. EDIT: In the past there has been something in the game's data about where clubs from particular countries go to look for new players (i.e. MLS clubs are inclined to look in Latin America but not England, Spain, Italy, Germany, etc.). Maybe if this is still in the game it could be used to prevent MLS clubs from scouting in Cuba and vice-versa. EDIT EDIT: At the time I was more worried about having Puerto Ricans not having U.S. as a second nationality because they are born as U.S. citizens. It's significant for international player slots. Does anyone know if this has been fixed since FM 10.3? |

Would it be safe to suggest that there is no way Bob Bradley should have a Motivation rating over 5? |
