Real Madrid finally came knocking...
$19,000,000 per year with:
$244,000,000 transfer budget
$309,000,000 payroll budget.

Turned them down.

It's now July and Arshavin has finally joined my team: first match vs. Montreal in Canadian Champion's Cup- severely lacking in match fitness, I start him as a striker. Result? 2 goals and an 8.8 rating (MoM) in 60 minutes...

Wow, LLMers would be SO mad at you. :P

Haha...I'm just so used to coaching in MLS I can't imagine coaching anywhere else...especially when I see crap players making over $500,000 a year, when I wouldn't even sign them to be an MLS backup.

Still, the Arshavin signing has me eager to see how this season plays out...good as De Guzman was, his stats really weren't any different than what Cronin's putting up for me now.

de Guzman is good? Proof that FM is not realistic at all :P.

Have fun with Arshavin. Hopefully you didn't overpay.

$4.9 million per year on a free. So far:
12 games, 10 goals, 1 assist, 4 MoM and a 7.48 rating. Currently unbeaten in 19 games, including a 1-0 win at Pachuca and a 1-1 tie at Monterrey in Champions League play. May even finally pick up a Supporters' Shield!

Won the CWC for the fourth time in a row.
Beat a Nigerian team 6-0, then beat Palmeiras and FC Bayern 1-0. Coming up I have an 18-y.o. Brazilian joining my team for $2.5 million that I signed in 2012. Listed as a LD/LB, I may move him up to midfield as he's not the strongest, nor the best jumper. I'll get another Brazilian the following year in the midfield- he's only rated at 3 stars, but my coach believes he can be "as good as" Arshaven.

FINALLY!!!
Canada's team selection includes: Pablo Fontanello, Carlinhos, Julian Ruelli and Dario Fedi. All of them were signed on a free at the start of the game. Stefan Frei was in line to play for Canada before he was capped in Euro qualifying for Switzerland. Still waiting on Jonathan Guerazar, Matias Quintana and Wendes to get their first cap, while Tiago Dutra is one more year away or so as I purchased him in the second season. Heartbroken that I had to release Valnei before the start of the season as he was 32 and I had 1 too many senior players...he's been the first guy I sign for the past 2 FM's, and was a few days away from being eligible for Canada... :(

Are you going to take over the Canadian national team?

I don't know...Hart is still in charge. Haven't qualified for the World Cup, but did finish 2nd in the Gold Cup in 2013. I'll have to see how the team does from here. First game with my players was a 3-1 loss to Austria, but that was without my attackers (Wendes and Quintana) or Guerazar, who can play MC/AMC (though I use him in a rotation with Carlinhos at RM.) I've taken off the crazy price tags on everyone capped, so I'm hoping to move some of them to make way for more projects. Renewed Arshaven to a two-year deal- he now only makes $475,000 a year. Put him on a more physical-oriented training schedule in the hopes of keeping up his pace/stamina (11/12) until I can find a replacement.

My Brazilian signing (Edu) is already drawing interest from foreign teams. May sell him, as his balance is 3. Currently looking for a goalie to develop, as Frei and Adam Street are fairly even, and Frei's attracting interest. Canada doesn't seem to have any goalie prospects as of yet (and I don't want to resort to inflating a draft pick with FMRTE) so I'm looking for a young foreigner from a big country that would take up Canada's banner.

US went out in the group stage of the WC; beat Qatar, lost to Argentina and drew with Portugal. Honduras was the only NA country to make it out of the first round (lost in the second.) Mexico and El Salvador both went out in the first, too. Bruce Arena is back in charge of the US following a poor Gold Cup for Bradley in 2013.

Find it interesting that most MLS teams have a DP player on their team, and Dallas is the only one that still has a salary under $1 million, as they tend to load up on GA and Dev players. Clubs are still signing players and waiving them as soon as they join, though.

Zac Boggs of NE has been destroying the league for some reason, and has 5 or 6 caps for the Nats.

Barcelona has both Donovan and Charlie Davies on their squad.

Barcelona won 4 straight titles before this year. Real won on goal differential over Villareal (I think) this year. Arsenal and Chelsea have been swapping titles in the EPL, and Napoli(!) just won Serie A after Inter had won it two years in a row. Can't recall the other winners...

Haha can't wait to get far in my TFC game. Did you consider taking over the Canadian U-20 team? They're available at the start of the game and will hire a Sunday Leaguer if you're in charge of TFC.
