Okay, so I'm playing as TFC in 10.3, and a few months in my coach recommends scouting a Canadian newgen playing for Toronto in the PDL. He's 15 and my coach (Nick Theslof) rates him at 4 stars for PA, possibly a leading MLS winger. I sign the kid for about $40,000 and give him some starts in the Canadian tournament and a Canadian Classic Super Cup that I created. He holds his own and is about a 7.2 rating after ten games or so. Then Werder Bremen comes calling and offers $500,000 for him (face value.) Naturally I refuse, as 1. he'll likely be worth more than that in the future and 2. he won't transfer until 2011. The player then gets upset and goes to the press to complain about how I'm holding him back. A few weeks later WB come calling again, offering $600,000. I decided to negotiate and asked for $900,000. They refused. I get the feeling this won't be the last time I hear from them...so what should I do? Hold on to him and risk upsetting him, or sell him and then either keep him on my team for 2 years or loan him to Vancouver? Also, Jacob Peterson just gained Canadian citizenship for me. I don't use him (he's loaned to Vancouver, and doing fairly well) but he's expressed a desire to play for the Canadian team in two more years when he's elligible. His contract expires at the end of the year and he's willing to take a paycut. Should I re-sign him to help him achieve his desire of playing for Canada, or should I let him walk? I suppose I could keep him around and either use him as a backup winger or loan him again, as I have plenty of cap room. |

Given Toronto (PDL) has a youth setup of 4 and low reputation I have no clue how one of their regens caught the eye of WB, with that said I would sell him because his PA can't possibly be that high. As for peterson I haven't personally started a game since the peterson trade however depending what your tactic looks like i'd keep him as a backup at the least especially with his reduced salary. |

I don't know...he's already capable of playing as a sub for MLS at the age of 16 and both my coach (20 JCA and JPA) and assman (13 and 16, I believe) rate him as potentially being a leading winger and he's described as a promising winger in his profile (as Ibrahim was last year, with a -8 PA.) I've downloaded FMRTE to analyze the draft players, but I'm trying to avoid peeking at my current roster, even though I've already seen 95% of their ratings from editing the DB. As for Peterson, the only thing I really ask of midfielders is to provide cover on defense and feed the ball to the forwards. I don't even rely on crosses all that much. I suppose if he comes cheap enough I could re-sign him and either keep him or loan him out. |

New game, TFC again. After winning my final 4 games I finished fourth in the East, then beat Chicago and NE to advance to the final. Facing San Jose without my best defender (though he's missed all of the playoffs so far.) Signed three newgens, two of which are rated as 3 stars and a striker rated at 4 1/2. He's only just now 16 y.o. and I've already had Palermo make an offer for him...as well as having Sevilla and Real Madrid (!) watching him...all three players have been able to contribute right away, so I'm not too keen on selling any of them (at least not before they're 18!) |

Okay...win the championship, and now I'm getting a new $120 million stadium that seats 30,000?! I can now hire up to 8 coaches...but still no scouts. Dichio stadium? Really? Good news: I drew Arabe Unido of Panama in the Q'Finals of the Champions League, avoiding all 4 Mexican clubs, Columbus and Alajuelense. Sweet. Next up: the draft, with a little help from FMRTE (though some of these players already look pretty good- I just need to balance some things out.) |

I'm not sure, honestly. Balance was around $12 million at the end of the year, then comes the announcement of the new stadium...that would be funded entirely by the team. I believe sponsorships covered some of the cost, but yeah, the next season I'd keep hearing about how "money was tight" at the club, and the board would have to make some cash injections a few times. Weird. Moved on to a new game, and Big News! I've managed to sign Kaka to TFC!!! Sure, it's not the Kaka...but he is a 15 y.o. newgen playing for Ottawa (I believe) and is rated at 4 1/2 stars. Can't join the club until 2011... |

Okay...new game with TFC. Signed a newgen named Michael Hart from Ottawa. Nick Theslof rated him as potentially being as good as Pablo Fontanello, my starting CB (and a good free signing!) Fast forward to June 15th, and Hart stats so far: 16 years old 4 appearances (3 starts) all in a created Canadian tourny 7.35 rating Valued at $95,000. Suddenly he's drawing interest from Napoli, Getafe and Mallorca. The Napoli coach has already praised him, which he took great delight in. I've stepped in to offer him a new deal- senior backup, $38,000 a year until 2013, and slapped a $1.6 million price tag on him... |

First game, at Pachuca: Pac 1, TFC 3. Carlinhos (available on a free at the start of the game) with two goals, Paul Dickov with one in extra time (team's leading scorer, though he's usually a backup.) |

Same saved game: Now January 1, 2013. Toronto FC have just announced the construction of Mike Patton stadium (my coach) to be completed by the end of the year, and will hold over 40,000 people. Just beat Inter Milan for the second straight year in the Club World Championship, 0-0 (5-4 on penalties.) Complimented Jose after the game, and he now feels as though we could "become friends." So far: 4 MLS titles (though 0 supporters' shields) 4 Canadian Championship titles 4 Canadian Classic Super Cup titles (custom tournament involving 16 teams from Canada) 3 Champion's League titles (currently in semi's of 4th) 3 Club World Champ. titles (Barca once, Inter twice) 3 Pan-Pacific Championships (yay?) As of right now, I've only sold one player (Emmanuel Gomez to a Korean team) and have let De Guzman go after this past season to Germany. Allowing De Rosario to walk as he's in decline but still asking for $300,000+ a year. I have 3 Canadian newgens on my team that were signed my first season from PDL squads. Signed Adam Street my first year for $100,000 or so- he's now my backup keeper (played 23 games this year, to Stefan Frei's 42.) I have a Brazilian U-20 midfielder that I payed $300,000 for last year, and will probably use him as De Guzman's replacement. Will purchase a Brazilian defender in 2014 when he turns 18 for $2.5 million. Everyone else was either a. signed on a free the first season or b. drafted to the team. After a first season with 12 internationals (plus 5 Americans) I now only have two or three- the rest have all gained citizenship and are looking into playing for Canada when the time comes. Now...I just have to find a replacement DP, preferably a striker. |

Only two or three have actually made an approach for me...one was Fiorentina, with a squad salary of something like $68 million per year. Constantly getting updates from the likes of ManU and Real, but nothing ever comes of it. Found my replacement DP, came down to a decision between 32-y.o. Didier Drogba at $1.8 million per year on a free (from Porto), or 31-y.o. Andriy Arshavin for $4.9 million per year on a free (from Real.) Decided to go with Arshavin. He'll join my team in July, after his contract expires, and I'll likely use him as a Striker (competent rating.) |

Real Madrid finally came knocking... $19,000,000 per year with: $244,000,000 transfer budget $309,000,000 payroll budget. Turned them down. It's now July and Arshavin has finally joined my team: first match vs. Montreal in Canadian Champion's Cup- severely lacking in match fitness, I start him as a striker. Result? 2 goals and an 8.8 rating (MoM) in 60 minutes... |
