Sarah and Jimmy never met Bro because they probably weren't even alive yet when Edd moved in (they're about 8, which is 4 years younger than the rest of the characters and the Eds were at most 4 in that flashback). They just broke into Eddy's house (it was easy enough for everyone to get into Kevin's house in the previous scene), found Bro's clothes (the door they were standing in was the door to Eddy's closet, so his closet of dreams might have some of Bro's clothes, or they may have found Bro's room and took the clothes out of his BPS closet, since their outfit was hanging there in the movie), acted threatening so they could get their way and Sarah just talked in the most masculine voice she could. They also put on a big fake beard, which is clearly incorrect about Bro, so I think Sarah just tried to hide her feminimity as much as possible.
Yeah, it's an interesting detail to keep in mind. =D The construction site was evidence of that before we even got to see what it was like in 'Every Which Way..', and yet it had never occured to me until that episode that the construction site would only be phase two of Peach Creek Estates. I kinda figured that would simply be the richer section when it's done. Speaking of a richer section of the town, I just thought of a weird house design that we can't really place on a map unless we wanna stick to my idea of just saying weird houses are located on the mysterious third cul-de-sac! Most of the cul-de-sac houses are pretty small, but in 'Stuck in Ed', Edd and Eddy use a car jack to lift up a surprisingly large house that looks completely different than the ones in Peach Creek (it's hard to explain, but they all have a very similar structual design, like attached garages, more first floor than second floor, and most of them have a pole next to the front door, usually coming off of the garage's roof). To my memory, this house has no garage, a very clear first and second floor, with possibly a third floor attic, and also looks a bit more detailed than the usual extra houses. And I guess it's also worth wondering where Ed got the house he dropped on Eddy from in 'Cry Ed'.
I made a thread about Scoot, he's from a commercial that AKA made/animated and he's based on the storyboarder Scott Diggs Underwood. We were talking about this character a few posts ago when we were referencing what a teenager looks like in EEnE. Both him and James have brief roles in my movie. XD
I think that pond is too small and in the open to be the actual swimming hole, but I DO think that it's evidence that the bigger swimming hole is nearby since it has a similar terrain and is right outside of a woodsy area. =D |

Yeah, true. What about the Kankers? Do you think they ever met Eddy's brother? It is possible, when you think about it, but I really don't know. Ideas?
Well, during that flashback in 'Every Which Way But Ed', we sadly don't see a whole lot more than just the regular cul-de-sac, but it would have been nice to see how everything else looked like eight years before the present day EEnE. Too bad. :/
Yeah, I've also wondered about a wealthier section of Peach Creek, but we really don't see anything like it. Those two instances you mentioned in 'Stuck in Ed' and 'Cry Ed' where larger houses are seen are probably not something you'd find necessarily in a wealthy section, you'd instead find houses that are even larger, have a 3-car garage, and the more mansion-type appearance.
Ah, okay, I don't recall ever seeing this commercial. Is it on YouTube? If so, I'd like to see it.
Yeah, I'm sure if they took us further down there, we'd see the swimming hole! =D Too bad we don't. |

I don't think the Kankers were even aware Eddy had a brother. One of their main purposes is to be outsiders to the rest of the cast, they have their own trailer park drama to deal with.
I guess at some point in my Bro Show, I should have the playground get built, since baby Jonny was able to play in it close to the time the Eds met. And maybe some of those other backgrounds we saw before the final flashback should be considered part of the neighborhood at that time.
I don't remember if the 'Cry Ed' house was as big, I don't think we get to see it from a good angle. There are some fancy looking houses in 'Read All About Ed', but I don't know what one would call this section. And the Boo Haw Haw houses may have also been tall like the 'Stuck in Ed' house... I think the cul-de-sacs would ALREADY be the wealthy sections, because those typically cost more, due to them being the best kinds of dead ends. Are the families rich and simply cheating their kids out of good allowences so that they think that a quarter's a lot of money? XD
Yep, here's my upload of it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8WPmNYDtU0 |

Really? Hmm… I always kinda figured that they might have at least heard of Eddy's brother. Although, the way they acted in BPS kinda implied that perhaps that was their first time meeting him.
Haha, no I wouldn't classify the cul-de-sac to be a wealthy part of town, to me it appears more middle-class. And haha, that commercial was funny. XD The character 'Scoot' does seem interesting, so I can't wait to see him in your Bro Show. =D EDIT (two days later): To fuel discussion again, I'm going to change the topic. We really haven't talked much about the Playground, and I've always wondered where exactly the swingset, monkey bars, and so forth are located. Have you mapped out the playground in close detail yet? |

That's what it appears like, but I'm pretty sure that, in real life, a cul-de-sac, let alone one in a development, is more expensive than a house on a normal street.
I'm pretty sure there isn't an official order for all the things in it, much like there's typically no order for the contents of the trailer park, the junkyard, or the construction site. And sometimes it grows new attractions from nowhere, like in 'Ed Overboard,' there are huge tires wedged into the ground, which Eddy leans on. In BPS, it has two slides right next to each other: the canon one that looks kinda like it has a wooden fort for a base, and a free-standing slide, which Kev and Rolf crash into. I don't know if the latter has been in any episode-- if not, then they totally just made it because it would be a lot easier to draw that getting destroyed than the one with a wooden base. I think I tried to find an official order to the playground in order to draw this background for my movie, but I probably didn't succeed since we'd probably see a lot more of the bouncing chicken ride if it was that close to the entrance... Posted Image Last night I was looking through episodes to find all my favorite strange houses that have appeared in the show to squeeze them onto a street in my movie. And I noticed something that supports my theory that the house of the haunted could be on the same street as the house with a dog... The two houses are very similar in design but very different from the usual houses in the show! Posted Image Posted Image This is mainly because they both have a jutting-out part of the front of the house which is usually used for a garage on the cul-de-sac's houses, but in these two houses it's just a normal room in the house. It's hard to tell with the dog's house, that MIGHT be a garage, but mostly because of the fence. The door on that jutting out part of the house looks more like a sliding glass door. The houses also both have two windows sticking out of the roof, which none of the cul-de-sac houses have. Additionally, they have similar window placement, as well as shutters which are very unusual in EEnE (I think the 'Stuck in Ed' house had this also). And something interesting I noticed... Right by the tree on the left side of the dog's house, you can see an outline which is on level with the rest of the right-side roof. However, for one reason or another, you can clearly see that the artist decided to go back and make the left side longer. My explanation would be that this longer part is an extension that the family added on themselves. But this is also important because, at its original length, the house would be the same length as the house of the haunted. And here's something else to discuss.. We've brought up 'Vert-Ed-Go' a few times in this thread because of its many strange background decisions. But we have yet to talk about this: Posted Image I can't, for the life of me, figure this one out. This scene begins in the lane, then Ed is pushed on his skateboard and suddenly the lane has changed into a fenceless dirt path on a hill, leading into some kind of woods. There's no way to tell what woods these are... For one thing, he doesn't even end up in the woods, he ends up at the tree where they build Club Ed. Club Ed is visible from Kevin's backyard, making it most likely that it is behind the playground's woods. This would be right next to the lane and would not require a long path. The electrical towers here are pretty screwed up (why are they turning to the left instead of continuing straight back? WHERE DO THEY THINK THEY'RE GOING?), but ignoring that, the towers suggest this is most likely going into the field behind the cul-de-sac... But for that to work, there should either be woods right behind the cul-de-sac, or a creek or the junkyard or the trailer park... At best, the woods seen in that screenshot are behind the trailer park, but we'd still need to see the creek and the woods in that screenshot look like the tall purple ones that border both sides of the Eds' neighborhood. In THAT case, they should be parallel to the towers, not at the end of them... DANGIT SEASON ONE, YOUR BACKGROUNDS ARE INTERESTING AND WORTHLESSLY NON-CANON AT THE SAME TIME. |

Whooooo… Long post is LONG. That's a good thing, though. :D
True, I guess houses on cul-de-sacs are more desired than ones on a busy through-street.
Yeah, the playground is yet another place that changes in some way in each episode it's shown. XD
Wow, you're right about that! They have almost the exact same appearance, at least on their facades, so they could very well be on the same street. And they also appear to be more wealthy-looking houses, so perhaps they are in the wealthy section of Peach Creek! But the only thing I could think of that could bring a case to the two houses not being on the same street is the fact that the fences around both lots are very different. The haunted house fence is made up of wood pickets strapped together, while the 'Read all About Ed' house's fence is more like a concrete wall, or something. If they were on the same street, it would only be proper to have the fences be made of the same material, or else it would look very awkward and misplaced.
Aha, yes, I see. I can't tell if it's a garage or a sliding glass door, but oh well. The shutters on the two houses are fascinating as well; I really don't think we see shutters in any other houses in EEnE, do we?
I noticed that too! I think it was just an error; the artists cut the house off too soon, and then later realized that they needed it to stretch further down. But if this was intentional, then that does make it very interesting…
Haha, I think this was just some non-canon season 1 thing. This is not the only really strange shot from season 1 that we see, I think the whole cul-de-sac area became more sophisticated as the seasons went by, at the time of season 1, I guess the artists were just kinda experimenting with the settings a bit. But yeah, this is one puzzling shot! |

Since the house of the haunted is pretty much my only proof of a third cul-de-sac (as you may remember, I explained how we see in at least one shot that it is placed similarly on a cul-de-sac to where Eddy's house is placed on Rethink Ave.), then maybe there IS a wealthy cul-de-sac in PC! And I also used a bunch of the strange BHH houses in my movie, and noticed that many of them are long like the dog's house, but have a very apparent second story like the 'Stuck in Ed' house... Maybe these are all in the same neighborhood (but not the same street)?
How you fence your property is your own decision, as far as I know. This applies to the cul-de-sac as well, where some yards have yellow fences, while others have white fences (I think Kevin and Ed have sometimes had white fences). And the house of the haunted is pretty old, so I don't think there's been anyone around to improve its fence in years. The dog's house is not surrounded by concrete, that's a grey fence, the boards are difficult to see because they're just a darker grey. ..Unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, that is, I'm now questioning my own judgement... I've never seen a family close themselves off with a concrete wall, though. XD
I didn't think we had seen any other shutters when I made that post earlier, but I've watched a bunch of episodes tonight and a lot of the strange BHH houses have shutters, and so does at least one window on Nazz's house and the anonymous house next to Rolf's... |

I'm sure there are several streets that branch off into wealthy districts of Peach Creek, and others that go into the middle-class areas.
Well, the homeowner's associations nowadays dictate a lot of your home's curb appeal, and make sure that none of the properties look dramatically different from each other. But I'm just used to my community, I doubt there's a homeowner's association in Peach Creek, and if there is, I'm guessing they're not as pushy as the ones I've endure where I live. XD
I've seen residences surrounded by concrete walls. Quite often, in fact. It's not really uncommon where I live, though most residences do have regular wooden fences…
Really? Hmm… I haven't watched BHH since Halloween 2009, so I need to get caught up on that. I don't recall seeing shutters on any of those houses, but I guess I didn't pay close enough attention to them. And maybe BHH isn't the only other time we see shutters? Perhaps there's one more occasion where shutters are attached to houses, I really can't think of any right now… |

It seems odd that these wealthier looking houses are so close to the cul-de-sac, in order for the Eds to go to them as easily as they do in their various episodes. Maybe PCE is just the beginning of the middle-class section (and possibly including the houses immediately across from the cul-de-sac and the houses on the street next to the construction site)?
Everyone's houses look different where I live... XD I've never been to Texas, but based on what I can learn about it from King Of The Hill, your community's strict rules about houses explains why the main character on that show is always trying to make his house look perfect. : D Since I've brought up King of the Hill, it's set in Texas and when I watch it a lot of things remind me of EEnE in it. ...But all I can remember right now is that, behind every house, they have a dirt-path system like the Eds' lanes, except it's wider like a normal road. But it is mainly used for trash collection like I've suggested the Eds' lanes are for, and they also have driveways on the backs of their houses in KOTH, so the lanes work for that too. They usually call them 'alleys' instead of 'lanes', though.
Either way, I'm pretty sure that the shots of Ed and Edd inside the yard make the grey wall look flat like a fence instead of rough like concrete. And whether it's concrete or just a fence, it feels so out of place to see such a heavily guarded yard in EEnE, surrounded by houses that don't even really fence off their backyards. XD It bothers me that there aren't fences on the sides of the kids' houses, criminals could walk right into their backyards!
EEnE shutters, at least in BHH, are typically colored the same as the glass (sometimes it might be the same color as the house, but that doesn't really help), and are outlined in different colors than black, so they kinda blend in with the glass. But if you look close, you can see a tower of lines detailing the shutters. BHH wasn't the episode I was referring to where I saw shutters on Nazz's house and the anonymous house, I think I saw those while watching 'I Am Curious Ed' and 'If It Smells Like an Ed'. And we know from the other fancy houses we're discussing here that other episodes have houses with shutters. I think the windows that have it on the normal cul-de-sac houses are usually minor back windows, not main/living room windows like the ones we're talking about on the fancy houses. |

Well, maybe the cul-de-sac is on the outskirts of the wealthy section of Peach Creek?
Haha, well, I actually think most of Texas is pretty lenient when it comes to curb appeal of houses, but certain neighborhoods are particularly strict. Like the one I'm in. XP
Yeah, I'm used to those being called 'alleys' instead of 'lanes'. But that's interesting.
True. But nothing's stopping criminals from hopping the fence and getting into their backyards that way. XD But yeah, it does seem kinda strange. The fence in front of that one house is really huge and seems out of place for its neighborhood.
Hmm… Usually shutters are located at the front of the house, to add a nice look to the house from the street. Can you take a screenshot of these instances we see shutters on Nazz's house in those two episodes? I really don't recall seeing any shutters in either of these episodes… |

Yeah, that's pretty much what I meant, and also that the middle-class section has only a recent development project, so not much of it exists aside from the cul-de-sac and, like, 2 streets near it (the one across from the cul-de-sac that leads to the candy store and the one next to the construction site that leads to the school).
Sometimes it makes me wonder if the Eds could live in Texas (or rather that PC could be based on Texan towns, since it's probably best to assume that PC is in a made-up state that simply resembles other states, similar to how Rolf's country works), since I've never seen a lane/alley before. But as we've already discussed, the movie seems to heavily suggest a Floridian/Georgian influence on the locales, and we also mentioned that the series itself makes it seem like it would be a more northern location, because of the insane snowfall and the town being founded 300 years ago.
But at least it would deter the LAZY criminals! XD
Rolf's house's back window has shutters: Posted Image House next Rolf has LOTS of shutters: Posted Image Posted Image Nazz's house: Posted Image Posted Image It's not something I'd expect anyone to remember, I was just looking at backgrounds instead of the characters since they were on TV last night and it's very rare that we can see the episodes so high quality. Remember that weird 'No Speak Da Ed' shot where the store next to the candy store is gone so we can see the side of the candy store building and it has a poster? IF I HAD BEEN WATCHING A BIGGER TV, I WOULD'VE BEEN ABLE TO READ THE INFORMATION ON THE POSTER! I always figured it said nothing more than "CANDY." |

Right. And even when you tie every thing together about Peach Creek (such as the weather, history, and geographic landmarks), you really still can't nail down the perfect location in the real world for EEnE. I really don't think it's supposed to be in a real place in the real world, anyway, as you mentioned, it's just a fictional place made to look like real towns. You've never seen a lane or an alley? Hmm… Well, I haven't seen many either, because they're not that common in my part of Texas, but I have seen several in downtown Austin. I think a lot of lanes/alleys are in the Los Angeles area in California. My family usually goes there every year or every other year on vacation, and alleys are certainly not uncommon there. (And speaking of, we will be going there in early-mid July, I might bring my laptop, but don't expect me to reply in this thread as often then. XD)
True. XD Thanks for all those screenshots! So it appears Rolf's house has shutters, at least on the back of the house, and so does the house next to his. In the last screenshot, there do indeed appear to be shutters on Nazz's house but in the second to last screenshot (the one you identified the shutters with the red text), I'm not so sure those are shutters… You did say that the colors of the shutters blended in with the windows, but even still, they just don't look like shutters to me… |

I've pretty much been everywhere on the east coast and I can't remember ever seeing one, all those I was young for most of those trips and wasn't really looking for lanes. The closest I can think of by me is, behind the last row of houses in a development on my way to school, they have their fences and then they have something that resembles a lane (it creates an alley either by having another's property's fence on the other side or woods), but it's not a road of any sort, it's got tall grass and there's a line of electrical towers running down it, making it look more like the field area NEXT to the Eds' lane. I basically just get excited whenever I see a row of electrical towers, though. XP I researched King Of The Hill once, and I think it WAS supposed to be set in a fictional county just south of Austin. And don't worry, I didn't post here while I was in Florida, you can return to the thread when you come back. XD
I almost didn't include it, because when the EEnE windows have those criss-crossing lines on them, there usually IS that little rectangle next to them, which is still glass. But usually the horizontal line goes PAST the vertical lines and cuts through that rectangle. Since this rectangle goes uncut by the window details, I suspect that it may be shutters. I could probably check the DVD with that ep on it, but I don't care that much, the artists often can't even decide on the color of Nazz's house, let alone details like shutters. XD It bothers me that her backyard in BPS is a bit different than the one seen in 'Boys Will Be Eds', and both of those are probably different from the versions in 'Pop Goes the Ed' and 'Eeny Meeny Miney Ed.' |

Huh, well I have never been on the east coast of the U.S, actually. I haven't gone any farther east than Houston. XP And I really don't think lanes and alleys are that common… I think they just added a lane in EEnE as a special place for the kids to hang out in, I really don't know what other purpose it serves. XD
Huh, south of Austin would be Hays County and Caldwell County. Interesting, I live somewhat close to there, though I am still in Travis County, the county Austin is in. Well, I think the hotel I am staying at has free internet access, so maybe I can check back in with the thread in the evenings?
I think all of the characters' backyards change every time they are seen. XD But yeah, I'm still not sure that those were shutters we saw in that one shot… It's such a minor detail, it's almost not worth it. XP And say, I think in 'Here's Mud in Your Ed', we see Rolf and Jimmy opening up shutters in front of the window to speak to the Eds. And in 'Hot Buttered Ed', I think I recall Jimmy opening shutters to call the Eds 'savages' when they were acting obnoxious in the tent. |

Ugh, my posts always have typos I don't see until you quote them. XD STILL NOT GONNA DOUBLE-CHECK WHAT I TYPE, THOUGH, I'VE LEARNED NOTHING.
I've never been OFF the east coast. XP
Maybe lanes are common in Canada and they weren't aware of how few lanes there are in the US? I wish I could travel wherever I want so that I could learn these things. Oh! And I think my friend in Ireland said she lives on a cul-de-sac with a lane around it, so that may support other countries having more lanes than the U.S... I almost wanna consider that the PC developers built the lane specifically for kids to hang out in, but I think that would be why they built the playground. And with so many lanes on so many streets, that lowers the importance of the one around the cul-de-sac. And getting back to my concern about criminals in PC, I think it's HORRIBLE that they've left these big, dark woods behind the playground with absolutely nothing blocking it off from the kids. XD
KOTH is set in the fictional Heimlich County. It'd probably be a good idea for more shows to define a fictional state or county so that people stop trying to guess where the shows are located and so that they have more freedom to make up towns. You don't have to break your back over getting online, it's your vacation. XD
This is interesting, because they ALL actually have pretty consistent backyard designs! Sometimes new things will appear (mainly clotheslines) or early episodes will make things up, but around the same time that they defined the kids' official house colors they defined their official backyards. Sometimes they even color the trees the same between episodes.
Oh yeah! Although, I think I once discovered that there's never been a window on Rolf's house, where that window was, in any other episode. XD But I don't think they did that for Jimmy's window. That was probably just the window itself he opened. |

Really? I catch a few typos that are occasionally in your posts, but you make it sound like there's a lot. I've seen more from me. XD
I'm not sure… but that's interesting that you mention that lane behind an Ireland cul-de-sac… To be honest (kinda hard to admit this) but I have never been outside the U.S. DX So yeah, since I haven't seen other countries, I don't see things like lanes often…
True, true. XD But there is a metal fence around the part of the playground that is beside the lane (you can see this in episodes like the beginning of 'Here's Mud in Your Ed', toward the middle of 'Little Ed Blue', and probably in 'Who Let the Ed Out?").
Huh, okay, yeah, that is definitely fictional, there's no 'Heimlich County' in Texas. XD
Hmm… Well, it just kinda seems that the placement of things in the backyards are different sometimes, but I guess that they mostly stay the same. I was definitely impressed when we see that paved path in Ed's backyard in the BPS looking pretty much exactly like how it did in 'For Your Eds Only'.
True. And I think at the end of 'Boys Will Be Eds', Jimmy instead opens curtains rather than shutters when revealing himself to the Eds… I'm too lazy to go watch episodes or hunt down screenshots, but I was wondering, in the episode 'Quick Shot Ed', when Nazz leans out her window when she hears the Eds break off of the tree, do we see shutters on the sides of the window? |

The only time I've left the US was on a cruise to Jamaica when I was 12, I just have friends outside of the country to tell me what it's like out there. XP
That's a canon part of the playground. The chain-link fence is on the left side, the right side, and the front of the playground. The left fence should be part of the lane, but it's often replaced with a normal wooden fence if we aren't actually gonna see the park in the episode. But no matter what, there's no back fence, so there's just this deep dark woods in the playground that any old creeper could hide in and steal kids. XD If Bro ever came back for revenge, he'd have a really easy time capturing everyone!
I'm always impressed when we see Ed's sliding glass doors and backyard pond, and that there are specific shed designs (Eddy's is different from Rolf's and Edd's). And Kevin's unpainted shed from 'Who, What, Where, Ed' is still around in 'Hands Across Ed' (even though the Eds supposedly painted it).
*checks Youtube* Mmmnope, just a normal window! But I am noticing that that episode and 'If It Smells...' seem to think her house is yellow with a blue roof when you're in the backyard, even though it should be white with a blue roof. |

If I was the creator of this playground, I'd much rather have had the fence be next to the woods instead of blocking off the lane. XD
Yeah, so I suppose we should be glad that they stuck to an official map of the backyards. XD
Really? I don't usually pay attention to the colors of the houses, I like the smaller details. XD Oh, and in 'In Like Ed', I think I recall seeing shutters on the side of Jimmy's house, but I may be wrong. I could be thinking of another episode… |

That WOULD make a lot more sense! I mean, there IS a dirt path in the playground, it should be connected to the lane! Posted Image While watching Quick Shot Ed, I noticed that Eddy's house has shutters in two shots, but the latter window doesn't exist anywhere on his house. And I also got caught up taking screenshots of other locations I found interesting. Like this watertower and smokestack visible from the junkyard: Posted Image Here's that cliff next to the junkyard that we keep talking about (and a bunch of pictures of the garbage truck so that I have reference for it in my movie): Posted Image And it also inspired me to get screenshots of the three episodes that show Nazz's bedroom so we can get a good idea of what it looks like. I wasn't previously certain about whether or not the bed and TV were in the same room, but now I know they have the same wallpaper so it probably is the same room. Posted Image |

Yay! Lots of screenshots!
Wait… What do you mean it didn't exist anywhere on his house? It's there, right? Or did you mean that it's not canon?
Huh, I don't think I recall noticing those. Good to know! So, where are these things placed in relation to the cul-de-sac?
Thanks for those screenshots. It kinda bothers me that they wouldn't have a guardrail on the edge of that cliff… I mean just one driver error and… yeah… so at least a guardrail would provide some protection. XD
Hmm… Those shots are very interesting. And also the rug, yellowish picture/portrait on the wall and the chair look almost the exact same in the shots, so I guess we can be certain about that. |
