I just got braces today. DX Nah, it's not so bad. :)

I've never had any, but probably will need them someday. XP Good luck!

Not only that, but remember, Kevin's dad works in the jawbreaker factory, so perhaps the reason one of those cars looks like one you see from the school, is because that's Kevin's dad's car. Kevin's dad might drop Kevin off at the school, unless Kevin rides the bus, and then go to work at the jawbreaker factory.

I think everyone walks to school or rides various things like in 'Out With the Old', and Kevin rides his bike. And if a parent was dropping off a kid, they'd probably just use the bus turnaround and wouldn't have a reason to park at the school. So while it's probably not one of the school-related cars in the jawbreaker factory's parking lot, you do make a good point I had not even thought about: If there's any cars there that aren't from the school, it could be Kevin's dad's car!

Quote:

Hmm... What other parking lots have we seen...    Well, I guess you could ask, where is the parking lot for the trailer park? I really can't tell where they park their cars. XD

I don't think they have cars, except for the dismantled car in front of the Kankers' trailer. XD The whole thing is basically a parking lot for the trailers, I guess.

Thank you. It's good to talk about EEnE to get my mind off of the braces. :)

You're probably right, but it's just a theory. I mean, I was just thinking, if the cars look the same in both parking lots, and we knew Kevin's dad works at the jawbreaker factory, then it just seemed logical that that his car might be one of those. XP

This is a screenshot of the parking lot of the jawbreaker factory, just for comparing to other shots of the school parking lot. Too lazy right now to take one of the school parking lot. XP

Ah, true. But I kinda figured they'd at least have one parking lot. You know? For guests or visitors, or something?

I dunno, it seems like the school parking lot would be mainly for staff cars, Kevin's dad wouldn't have a reason to park there all day. XD

The green hippy van and the motorcycle in the jawbreaker factory lot are from the school lot. The yellow and red cars look familiar as well, but I think at least the red and blue cars could be actual jawbreaker factory staff. And I think the most interesting thing about that lot is that security gate. It's just an interesting detail to add.

I guess that's why the whole trailer park, both the trailers' yards and the roads within the property, are made of dirt, so that cars can park anywhere. And I also guess you would park in front of the trailer you're visiting, rather than having to walk through the whole park.

Yes, that security gate is fascinating. And they have the lot fenced too.

There are four cars and one motorcycle in that shot. Which ones do you also see in the school parking lot? All of them, or just a certain few of them?

Good point. We talked about the Trailer Park earlier in this thread and agreed that most things could not fully be explained about it. XD

I think the candy store lot was fenced as well, and the school parking lot is definitely fenced in.

I actually said which ones I think/know are school cars in the paragraph you quoted:

I'll keep talking about my curiosity about the yellow and red cars, though. In the school lot, I remember that there is often an low-detailed yellow car in the background. I only know for sure that it's seen at the end of 'Too Smart For His Own Ed', though, and I think a shot of it may be in the first post of this thread. However, this kinda looks like a brighter shade of yellow than I remember that one being, and it's a pretty generic EEnE car so it's hard to tell. My problem with the red one is that it is also a generic car design, because I do know that there's a pickup truck that shade of red in the school lot in 'Out With the Old', and there may have been some other filler red cars there because the lot was so gigantic in that scene.

True. This seemed kinda odd for me, because where I live, parking lots aren't usually fenced in.

Whoops, sorry, I missed that. I should be more careful. So now I understand. Of course, we don't get to see all of the parking lot in that shot, so I'll bet there are more cars. But it's still possible that those cars are different from the ones at the school, you know. But yeah, I do see a resemblance.

Huh, I see. While we're on the subject of cars, let's think about what cars we see in the show. Like, there's a vehicle on the cul-de-sac that Ed throws into a house in 'Run Ed Run', and then there's another vehicle in 'The Eds are Coming.' Anymore sightings of cars you can think of, besides those in the parking lots?

Just remembered another parking lot, although it's still only in season 5: the Peach Creek Community Pool seems to have a small parking section in front of the main doors. It could be large, but it feels like the building should be closer to the road than it would be if it had a full parking lot.

I'm tempted to suggest that it's only a visitor's parking lot, but I don't feel like the jawbreaker factory would have much more property (although it seems weird that a factory full of people only has, at most, 3 cars in the parking lot).

Well, I definitely recognize the green hippy van and the motorcycle. I drew both into my movie, so I had to get familiar with them. XP The green hippy van is also in a looped animation of cars on Jonny's highway in the movie.

I actually have been trying to list all the cars I can remember in EEnE so I can include all or most of them in my movie. XD The one Ed threw in 'Run Ed Run' was either in front of Rolf's house or the anonymous house next to Rolf, and Ed threw it into Kevin's bedroom.

I'll start off with the obvious: There's always a bunch of broken cars in the junkyard, most popular would be the junkyard van (the one with flames) and the pink caddilac from 'Dawn of the Eds'. I can't actually tell most cars apart, but I'm told that was a caddilac.

And then there's millions of cars and trucks in the movie, both on highways and in parking lots. There's also Nazz's family car AND Rolf's relatives' car in 'The Eds Are Coming', Jimmy's family's van in JJJ, the parked van Ed and Eddy run past in BHH as well as the broken down hearse, the car the Eds hide under in 'Quick Shot Ed', parental cars parking in 'Too Smart For his Own Ed', the Kanker-destroyed cars in the cul-de-sac in 'Run For Your Ed', the car in front of the Kankers' trailer, the truck that hits Eddy in 'Sorry Wrong Ed', that red car seen at the beginning of 'Sir Ed-a-Lot', the principal's Jeep in 'Truth or Ed', Eddy's parents' car in 'JJJ', Eds' parents' car in 'Will Work for Ed', Rolf's tractor, various construction vehicles, Eddy's bro's car, the Danderhound bus, Jonny's bus, the ambulance, the garbage truck, the mail truck, the PCHS school bus, and the LBJH school bus.

That's everything I can remember.

Really? I never did see that parking lot. Hmm… I may have to give that episode closer inspection.

Well, and let's not forget that snazzy looking car at the beginning of 'Sir-Ed-A-Lot.' XP But yeah, other than that, I can't think of any more than what you have listed.

It's fenced off so people can't just sneak past the security gate (and I think the EEnE artists don't feel a background looks finished until there's a fence around everything; it's probably because of this that it bugs me that there's no fence between the farmer's sunflower field and the Gag Factory). The purpose of the security gate would be to make sure the visitors have an appointment or some proof that they belong there.

In the school parking lot. I'm sure it's been there a few times, but I think its most noticable appearance was from overhead in 'Out With the Old...'

I'd like to talk about that abandoned retro van in the junkyard that you mentioned. It's only seen in I think three episodes, 'Dawn of the Eds', 'A Twist of Ed', and 'Dueling Eds', were there more? I'm curious as to where it's located in the junkyard, somewhere in the center, or is it off to the sides?

Yep, it only appears in those three episodes, but it gets to make two cameos in the 'Jawbreakers' video game. And you're insane if you think there's an official map to the junkyard. XD It's just random piles of junk with occassionally familiar pieces of junk appearing here and there. Someone else was once insane, though, and asked me to try and map out the junkyard. I don't think it's really worth much since there's no way of telling where the characters are in the junkyard at any given point in time, unless they're right at its fence, and it's mostly just me trying to make it a little more realistic and figure out where the pipe and machinery from 'Dawn of the Eds' is.

http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs11/f/2006/212/5/7/junkyard.swf

Looking at it for the first time in years, I can see I was mostly trying to map out 'Dawn of the Eds' and 'Hands Across Ed'. There should definitely be a lot more junk piles, though.

Haha, well, I wasn't asking for a map of the junkyard, I know that would be impossible, I just was wondering if we knew where the retro van was located within the uncharted mounds of disposed garbage. Yeah, but I guess it's hard to say where exactly it is. XP That map you linked to, though, was very interesting…

Anyway, just for fun, here's a screenshot from 'A Twist of Ed' that shows the retro van. Not sure we can make out anything about its location within the junkyard from this shot.

Ah, okay, then you are in fact a sane person. XD But sadly, the van's surroundings change each time, I think. In 'Dawn of the Eds', the van has tires all around it, which the Eds later use to build a barrier around it. Then in 'Dueling Eds', I believe the tires are gone and there's enough open space in front of the van for Kevin to bike up to the front of it. And in your 'A Twist of Ed' screenshot, there are some tires, but the area in front of the van is now completely blocked off with trash. I do like some of the things they sneak into the junkyard, though. There have been broken planes, rockets, and I think even a flying saucer, and in that shot (as well as in the movie) you can see a sword sticking out of the garbage.

Hmmm... there's no real way to map this out, but I guess this at least leaves room for some interesting theories on Peach Creek's recent past: I think the most interesting things in the junkyard are the various business signs. I think the ones we see most often are "GAS" and "EATS," I can't think of any others. But I'm mostly interested in "GAS" because there's never been an indication of there being a gas station in PC, and I wonder what happened to these old businesses. The only gas station we've seen in the show is a place called "Fast Gas" along the road to Lake Garcia State Park in the movie.

Oh, and this reminds me of something that wasn't stated in the movie, but was intended by the artist who drew the scene: the reason the road Edd and Eddy fought on had no cars was because it was supposed to be a creepy road that had been closed down. This kinda sheds some light on why there were bulletholes in the "No Dumping" sign next to the swamp-- only low lives go there.

OH! OH! That's something I hadn't even thought about before! Gas stations! That really does bring up an interesting point - Why do we not see a gas station in the commercial district of Peach Creek? Hmm… Maybe there is one off-screen that we never get the opportunity to see.

I'm guessing it must be somewhere that the characters just haven't had a reason to take us to, but it feels like, in real life, there's a gas station pretty much everywhere. You'd think you'd see a lot more, especially closer to civilization than the one in BPS, which felt kinda like a stop for truckers or for people on a long road trip because of how desolate the area was. Eddy also claims there was a motel before that station, but there's really no room for one, because everyone else's route to Mondo is really close to the swamp. XP Unless there was a motel AT the gas station, because it looked like it had a few buildings on its property...

The street is actually based on a creepy street that was behind the artist's childhood backyard. Probably just in concept, because I'm sure there was no swamp and that she wouldn't remember details like a bullet-hole sign, but still, it's neat how they put a part of themselves in the show.

Where I live, you can't go a mile without a gas station. XD It is kinda surprising that we don't see more in the EEnE world, but you're right, there's not really a reason for the characters to come across a gas station.

Ah. Rachel Connor was this writer/artist your talking about, I'm guessing?

Back to the subject of the location of the junkyard, I took this shot from 'Vert-Ed-Go':

Posted Image

So Ed is standing in the junkyard, facing the cul-de-sac in front. What intrigues me is that little creek that runs in front of him - I thought the regular creek didn't go in between the cul-de-sac and the junkyard, I thought it went beside them. Also in this shot, you can see the electrical towers in the back.

No, Raven Molisee (possibly with double-L or double-S, I always forget the spelling). Rach wasn't an artist for the show.

I've always loved that shot, because it's so close to being canon. I'm not sure why the creek is green here, though, and the electrical towers/woods in the background look laughably flat. XD I mostly like it because they remembered that there's a junkyard on each side of the creek. The Eds usually go into the one on the right side of the creek, which is behind the trailer park and has a fence around it. You can see the other junkyard across from Ed in your shot. It is usually unfenced, although there are probably some episodes were they fence it in because it looks weird to just have a dump in the middle of a field without anything to make it look like a town-recognized junkyard. I think Jimmy brings the kids past a dump to get to the field in 'Once Bitten Twice Ed', and since there's no creek in sight and the way it was placed, it has to be the left-side dump, but with a fence around it.

But anyway, what exactly do you think is wrong about it going between the junkyard and the cul-de-sac? The creek certainly doesn't normally go that close to the cul-de-sac, but I still think it would have to go between them no matter how you interpret the map..

Oh, fun fact! You can tell the creeks and the stream in BPS are young waterways because of how many bends they have. An older waterway would be more straight because the current would gradually erode the land causing these bends.

Yes, that indeed is a very interesting shot. I really don't know why the creek appears to be green in that shot, perhaps grass has grown in it, or maybe the water turned green. =O

Well, you may be right, but I just kinda figured the creek was off to the side, I never recalled it being in between the creek and the cul-de-sac in other episodes. Hmm… Perhaps my interpretation is wrong…

That's right! Kinda interesting to point out, yeah. The creek in the cul-de-sac area has some bends, but I'd say it's been eroded somewhat over the years of its existence. I may be wrong.

I think they just colored the water green rather than blue. Sometimes they don't make it a different color from anything else, though, so I guess we've gotta take what we can get. XD

I can't see how that would work, since the creek goes off to the construction site's left, passes between the cul-de-sac and the trailer park (and the junkyard) and goes way back into the field. The main junkyard is too far on the right for the creek to be able to go in any other direction.

Here's the link to the page with the official map to see how it works: http://edtropolis.com/peachcreek/index.htm

Edit: Actually, here's a better link of the official map, the other one just has some other good screenshots (including another mysterious old business sign in the junkyard; I wonder what happened to the Car Wash, which was probably attached to the Gas Station...): http://www.edtropolis.com/peachcreek/map.htm

And here's a shot from Mission Ed-Possible (which I posted on page 2) that shows the creek going between the cul-de-sac and the trailer park (and would then logically go between the cul-de-sac and the junkyard):

The creek in the cul-de-sac area has some bends, but I'd say it's been eroded somewhat over the years of its existence. I may be wrong.

I guess it's pretty hard to say, especially since I don't think there's an official design for how it bends, but it looks pretty curvey in these screenshots.

I think they just colored the water green rather than blue. Sometimes they don't make it a different color from anything else, though, so I guess we've gotta take what we can get. XD

Yeah true, I think we take these things too seriously. XP

Okay then, now I see that perhaps it is possible that the creek goes in between the junkyard and cul-de-sac.

Ah, yes, I see. But the trailer park in this shot shouldn't be right behind the cul-de-sac, should it? I mean, I thought the trailer park was closer to that second cul-de-sac.

It does, yes, but other times, like perhaps in 'Avast ye Eds', the creek appears to be a lot smoother and straighter.
