I don't approve of this thread much. It's just saying that the Eds are gone now and it's the end of the Eds. So I think it would be best if this thread is locked. Because people don't want to hear about the end of the Eds. |

I disagree. If we can change this thread to one where we can appreciate the show and honor the amount of work put into it, this thread would be worth keeping open. If you don't want to see this thread anymore, Fusion, don't post in it- if people stop posting here, people will be less likely to see it. |

So it's been a whopping 19 years since the show premiered. Can you believe it? I can't. After the Big Picture show premiered and it became clear that that was the end, I thought the show ended on a strong note and managed to finish on it's own terms. I think the shift from an unusually long summer vacation setting to the school setting in season five was the first sign that the show was really starting to lose a bit of steam. Not that it was bad or anything, but you could tell things were different. If the end didn't come soon it could've very easily turned very ugly IMHO. Knowing what I know now though, the question on my mind is if Cartoon Network will attempt to reboot Ed, Edd n Eddy, and if so, when. Even though Dexter (from Dexter's Lab) and the Powerpuff Girls were the unofficial mascots for the network there's no denying that Ed, Edd n Eddy was (and probably still is) the most popular show on the channel. CN trying to see if they can bring life back to SpongeBob's only competitor is something I can see them doing. Should they? Probably not. But maybe something like a special 10 minute episode from the aka Crew might not be the worst thing in the world. Eventually when the 2000's nostalgia starts to take hold of people (let the 90's die already), I think CN might take advantage in a way. Bring on the non-stop E,EnE marathons! |

I truly hope there is never a reboot. The series is way more special knowing that it's over and what we have is what we have. I rarely, if ever, like it when a series or film is rebooted or extended superfluously. Plus, Eddy's voice actor isn't even in the business anymore. It would be one thing if Nazz's voice actor moved on, but you can't change one of the Eds. Nobody would accept it. What would be great, on the other hand, is if Cartoon Network showed episode reruns once more. That, too, might be dangerous though because it would introduce a whole new generation of kids to EEnE and there might then be pressure to create a reboot. But frankly, there should be enough episodes and specials to keep it going for a long while just based on what's already extant. |

I think what helps E,EnE is that if CN ever decided to do the Tom & Jerry (just rerun the show at like 1 PM for young toddlers or kids sick from school), you can just jump right into any episode. There's no narrative arcs, there's no character changes, nothing. You don't even need an origin story or whatever :P. Boom. If CN's schedule has to be dominated by reruns of the same show, I'd rather have E,EnE than most of the shows they've got right now. |

Yeah exactly. Reruns I am perfectly fine with. It's just reboots that I am wary of. |

One thing I'd be concerned about in a reboot of this show is the art style. The overall design of the show and its characters add such a uniqueness to it; I don't think a reboot would do it justice, unless all the artists came back and were fine with using digital tools. If there is a reboot I hope it has a rougher, more organic design and style to it instead of looking like everything else. |

That's a good point, Trap. The animation style is what made EEnE so unique. I think the guys at AKA wouldn't be keen to polish it up for any potential reboot. They seem like the kind of folks who enjoy deviating from the norm and being as quirky as possible. That said though, they did use digital animation tools from Season 5 onward. Thankfully it never appeared too different from the classic four seasons to detract from the magnificence that is EEnE, at least for me. |
