The weee compliance is a European Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive that applies to a wide range of electronic and electrical products. This is meant to encourage the collection, treatment, recycling and recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipment. Also, this is a directive that makes producers and importers of electric goods responsible for financing of the collection, treatment and recovery of WEEE. There is a list of products that are affected by the WEEE directive and it broadly includes products such as large household appliances and small household appliances are included in this. Also, other instruments such as IT and Telecommunications Equipments, Consumer equipments, lighting equipment, electronic and electrical tools also come under the category of products that are included in it. Again, products like toys, leisure, and sport equipments, medical devices, monitoring and control instruments and automatic dispensers also are controlled by the WEEE compliance. It is pointed out by officials that the national governments are in the pursuit of clarifying the breadth of these categories. More updates on this matter are yet to be come out. As it is noted by officials, there is a list of products that are either not included, exempt or out of scope of WEEE. They include implanted and infected products and large scale stationary industrial tools. Also, other products like military products automotive products, aerospace or aircraft products and surface transportation products are also excluded from the list of products that are supposed to be under the strict control of WEEE compliance.
