she said something like 'darren, not to be rude or doubt you for a minute, but are you absolutely positive we haven't seen your place cos the pics I've seen look pretty convincing' paraphrasing there of course. I remember seeing that post and thinking 'this can't end well', then next time I looked it had all been deleted.

Incidently, what is with people thanking the mod for deleting stuff? How tragic is that?

Poor Sam, shes only about 15 isn't she? Must be very intimidating to have DARREN HAYES himself tell you off.

Oh yeah I know what you mean about people thanking the mods..What's with that?? I thought I was the only one who noticed it. Didn't want to say anything about it because I moan enough. It's like they think they'll gain favour with Darren by sucking up to the people who work for him.

Took the words right outta my mouth Steph. Yes we all luv Darren but plz... Stop! It's sickening!

Ok why haven't we got a sick smiley???

And Melissa... Jealous! I want bubble wrap! And my mum is so addictive to it, if i bought her a whole wrap of it she'd be happy.

edit... :bleugh: I'm happy now.
Blessed be, Geo Toni x~X~x

Huh. I just found out that spiders are actually good luck. No wonder I've been having such bad luck lately; I haven't been nice to them! I've always been aracnophobic, but I guess they're even better than what people say!

I posted this on my LJ earlier, but I was thinking about it and figured it kind of fitted in with what we were talking about earlier on in this thread (have expanded it a bit too lol)

This weekend I have been a just randomly trolling round the internet, and ended up reading a shitload of old threads on several Darren Hayes/Savage Garden forums. Quite intriguing and enlightening I must say. It's good to know that there has always been whinging, moaning, entitlement whoring, bitching, complaining, accusations of favouritism, sucking up to mods/big name fans, slagging off of said mods/big name fans, people who refuse to accept that people disagree with them, flounces and woe is me-ness. Same shit, different names. I used to worry that as one of the 'new generation' of fans I was somehow to blame for the perceived 'changes' in the fandom. Now I'm coming to realise that the fandom doesn't really seem to change much at all, just people's investment in it and their position in it. People grow up, move on, and from what I've read the changes are more individual than wholesale. If anything has changed, it's that there's less open bitching on the FC than there used to be. It is getting more snide, which isn't a good thing, but less outright bitching does mean that if you want to ignore it, you can.

I have clearly been very bored today.

You know, I think it's gotten less 'out in the open' since Darren became more involved with the forums. I don't know if it's because he signals that he wants it to stop, for example when people were getting into a heated discussion about religion, stemming from Darren's thread about a Christian's problem with him being gay and Darren bascially said he didn't want the conversation to continue so it was stopped. Either that or it's the mods stepping in to protect Darren. Possibly it's a mixture of the two. I do think it's better for the community as a whole that bitching isn’t allowed to continue, even though I find it a bit boring because I love a good bitch. The place is definitely more peaceful on the surface because any argument that begins to brew is quickly stopped. I have to say though, out of all of the mods there it was usually Laurie who stepped in to calm the situation. In her absence, it will be interesting to see how it is handled the next time a major argument blows up. We all know that the rest of them aren’t particularly professional when it comes to dealing with any Darren issues. Maybe everything will revert to the way it was before Laurie was a mod…anarchy, riots, bitching, hair pulling until the thread is suddenly locked without any explanation for the powers that be. We can only wait and see. ;)

Interesting what you say about feeling that because you are a ‘new generation’ fan, you felt like you contributed to the changes people talk about. I used to feel that way too, but I don’t think that’s the case at all. I think what changed is that many people who used to enjoy the freedom of speaking their mind, or voicing their problems, were suddenly silenced and they didn’t like it so they left (or in the case of the ones who fought back, were kicked out). I think the bitterness and disillusionment a lot of people feel came directly from the way they were treated by the people who run the place. It’s a shame because at the end of the day, the only person who is really suffering is Darren. There was a time a few years back when he was losing fans by the bucketload because they were all getting banned! I can only hope that Darren does not know what used to go on and how people were treated back then during the great FC massacre of 2006 and the subsequent exodus of fans who were more loyal to their banned friends than to Darren. (Not that there's anything wrong with being loyal to the ones who were banned).

Edit. Haha I love how I used the words anarchy, riots, massacre and exodus. As if I was talking about an actual war zone. And I accuse Darren of being dramatic. :lmao:

Interesting points. I know what you mean about less bitching going on at the FC now. I think that is partly because the mods crack down on it, and partly because no one wants to be seen to be the bitch in front of Darren.

It was funny, but I was reading old threads at UDH and the points raised about why people were unhappy with the FC were almost identical to every point that has ever been raised here. I'm not sure when the sea change with that place happened, but it did.

Much as I love drama, I'm kind of glad we don't get much of it at the FC. It will indeed be interesting to see if drama increases now Laurie seems to be off the scene. I've a feeling it will.

Other interesting point I noted. Of the dramatic threads still there on the FC forum - there are a few, it's the same people perpetuating drama in every single one.

I love drama! I love seeing the bitchy ness of some people esp when its over something so minute and its fun to sit back and watch :P :-" However i am glad there isn't as much nowadays with the more serious ones, like what you guys mentioned everyone getting banned! And even mentioning on the board about people being banned was fun... (soon as i posted a topic about someone we know on her banning and her profile being changed from banned to normal and yet she still was banned) That was fun, esp when i was told it was none of my business and i turned round and said excuse me it is my business because she has asked me to contact you guys because no one has bothered to respond to her messages! :D That shut them up. But it didn't exactly get sorted though  It was mad!

Also i have noticed a few people who tend to be involved with the madness quiet a few times in threads. I wonder if they all get together when their bored and decided to do these things??? Lol.

I will be interested to see how the others cope now with Laurie off the scenes. Will be interesting to see how they deal with it.
Blessed be, Geo Toni x~X~x
