Anybody remember the computer game 'Lemmings'?

It was these little oompa loopa guys that are very populated and full of stupidity enough to fall off the edge of a platform and go splat on the ground.

No matter how many times they walk in circles and kill themselves the game is VERY addictive.

I also remember playing that game on a OLD Apple computer with the FLOPPY disks that were like 4inches by 4inches big. They were way old fashion floppy disks.

Anybody remember that game and the oldschool floppy disks?

Nevermind they were 5 inches something the oldschool ones.

You serious? Britain never has high school proms?

I'm read an article a bit ago about how Britain schools are sort of bringing in the American way of life, by starting proms.

Never did that before I suppose. Too bad the parents just can't see the fun in this instead they're saying it's too expensive -that's true- and it degrades Britain's schools way of life.

Why can't parents just enjoy seeing their daughter dressed up beautiful for the first time in their life and be happy.

Why can't parents see their son off in a nice suite with his date he asked out?

Live a little England!

We never had proms, but that's not to say there was no fun :D

When I was at school there was generally an end of school disco, which is probably similar to a prom but without the limos. As well there would be pranks by the bucketload, and at my school there would be a big production done by the leaving students that would parody the school and teachers.

I guess different countries celebrate the end of education in different ways. I think in the UK it might be different because one set of students leaves at 16, but often people will stay on til 18 in education but at a different place or sometimes the same place.

Mind you, we all celebrated the end of school by going clubbing and getting rat arsed, so I'm no example!

I remember lemmings! My brother used to play them. I always wanted to but he wouldnt let me.

As for proms, i think they're becoming more popular in the last few years here. When I left school, we had this dance thing we went to. It was in a big fancy hotel and all the girls got dressed up in their pretty dresses and the boys wore suits or kilts. We had a really nice meal and then a disco at night. We didn't call it a prom though and there was no prom king and queen. I loved my dress though for that. I still have it. I only wore it once and now it's just gathering dust. :( It's too fancy to wear to any other occasions like weddings. I'm sure i have a pic of me at that leaver's dance somewhere...maybe I'll look it out.

I'm homeschooled (as most of you probably know) so I've never gotten a prom :( I'm not even sure how graduation will work

From my family -a lot of them homeschooled- they had a nice ceremony at a church or plaza place and had a small reception where you get your diplomas and a nice after party.

Nothing fancy, of course graduating from a public school, the difference there is another 600 - 700 kids.

My might get to wear a robe, or dress up nicely.

I'm sure your homeschool teachers will let you know once graduation comes around.
I didn't get my robes or invites ordered until about Feb-March. Then actually had them in my hands in about late April-mid May.

It'll work out!

LOVED LEMMINGS!!!!!! Its brill!

Also for proms, nah we dont have them but we do have end of yr disco's for when we left year 6 and went onto secondary school *high school*, and also some places do tend to do some things for when we leave secondary school. I never went to mine, basically cus i was sick last two years of school and i didn't excatly have friends. So there was no point.
It never bothered me.
Blessed be, Geo Toni x~X~x

I set myself a new resolution not to use the internet at work because a] I need to stop being so addicted to it and b] I'm paranoid that the main server computer stores all the websites we visit so even if i delete my history on my own comp, my boss will still see it.

So I've gone 2 days, 8 hours each day without even looking at the net. I'm proud of myself. From now on, only using the net at home! So I won't be on here during the day.

I don't know where to post this.

Anywho, I'm trying to fill out a picture survey on Livejournal -that bored- and to find the pictures, we're supposed to answer the questions with photobucket.

I looked up October -because If i was a month I would be October- and this picture came up first page.

It's very frightening how this look like Darren's - Darkness video.

Anybody see it besides me?

Posted Image

How this picture had anything to do with October? The lyrics are from Blue October.

So this may be a guy from the band lol. It's the eyebrows and beard that sets me off hmmm.
