First one up - Toby Keith Recognized By Congress For His Dedication To Military -- [Newstalk 1010] Toby Keith is being honored by Congress for his commitment to the U.S. troops. Congressman Tom Cole introduced a resolution in the House of Representatives on June 10th recognizing Keith for his six USO trips, among his other efforts on behalf of soldiers. Cole said, "I believe Toby deserves to be acknowledged for his work. He's shown a unique understanding of the dedication and difficult work the members of the Armed Forces do and he has made it his priority to bring joy and entertainment back to them. I am proud to bring forth this resolution commending Toby Keith for all that he has done to boost the morale of the military. He has made Oklahoma very proud." Keith said, "I appreciate Congressman Cole's recognition in introducing this resolution, and I have to say that the real glory belongs to those men and women I've met who leave their families and put it on the line for the rest of us. Getting to visit with them once a year is the biggest honor for me, and I will continue to encourage other artists and performers to make that USO trip." To my state representative - Steve Kagen (D) - YOU BETTER DARN WELL VOTE YES! |

I would add Charlie Daniels and Ted Nugent to that list, both have been to Afghanistan and Iraq to support the troops and they are both very active here at home in keeping America reminded of the Armed Forces over there. And from my State of Oklahoma also are Senator Tom Colburn and Senator Jumpin Jim Inhofe some of the few real Conservatives left in Congress and who are very instrumental in Washington when it comes to keeping the stuff that the soldiers need going their way and keeping the Peacenic Libs at bay on the Hill To all of those that keep this countries fighting spirit alive.Heres to you

Toby Keith is a Patriot (even if he is a democrat) and I'm glad he's getting this recognition. I'll be sure to shout praises out to him when I see him in concert in two weeks! My son and daughter-in-law got me tickets for Mother's Day. I can't wait!

On the road today, I saw (and counted) 56 bikers riding together all with an American Flag attached to their bikes. I didn't know where they had come from or where they were going. It was a hot day and nobody had on a leather jacket with an insignia and it really didn't matter. I just felt really proud. |

Ali, Its a cool site isn't it ... what's really cool is to be in a town, with buildings on both side, sidewalks full of people and to hear the rumble of the All American Harley's growing from a block or two away. Then to see them ride in side by side, flags waving as they do their ride by before joining us in our stand against the moonbats. You can almost see the moonbats cringe in fear when they hear the first rumble ...

Ali, more than likely that was a group of Patriot Guard Riders going to or coming from a ride to honor a deceased veteran or a veteran or group of veterans returning from a tour of duty.

You're absolutely right Dawg! The sound fades when the side streets come along, then picks right up again - it 'rumbles' against the progress we've made! It's a noise that reminds us that we live in Freedom! It's a sound that makes us look and see our flag and stirs emotion! Just like a high school marching band playing a Patriotic song in a Memorial Day parade - it is our sound of the past, present and future! I think CW, you say it best ...Patriotism is an emotion - it's a 'shiver up your spine'. |

I also would like to kind of break the rules on this thread and nominate Ollie North although I know that this if for non-military people and once a Marine always a Marine kind of treads on the rules here but, Ollie has done so much to inspire the common Conservative in all of us over the last few years as a civilian that I couldn't just not mention him. A good man and I still think he would make a Whale of a President. Ollie in 2012? now wouldn't that be a breath of fresh air. |

Another guy I'd like to mention , I am sure none of you have heard of but, he is a friend of mine and someone that is not afraid to swim upstream against the powers that be. He is a preacher but, not like anyone you have ever heard. He is a Strong proponent of closing the borders and Second Amendment Rights and very outspoken on a lot of other important issues that face this nation. He has a local radio show out of Tulsa and all the Liberals here hate his guts, which makes him my com-padre and he is my fellow brother in JESUS Christ. I am very proud to count him as a friend. Here is a link to his web-site, I think you all will agree that Bruce is a true American Patriot and deserves recognition. He takes the fight to the streets on the local level and is attacked on every side by the local liberal officials on a daily basis but, continues the battle. http://www.heartlandstrategy.org/ |

We are a lucky bunch to have come to know that we share the same values, pride and spirit in our country. It's a common bond that we don't find easily with neighbors or friends ...even family anymore. |

Thanks, CW you are a fellow fighter in the cause and I am proud to call you Brother and friend. And I do agree on the rest of the list also. We always win in the Market Place of ideas because it is our Patriotism, commitment to the Truth and logic that wins out everytime. This One Nation Under GOD is still the greatest place on the planet and it is because of folks like Ya'll and the ones that lived before us. We must always be ready to give and answer for what it is we believe and never grow weary of defending it. We will always have a fighting chance if we remember these two things. ![]() This we'll Defend |

Let me add a hearty AMEN to all the above!! God has blessed us so much to have been born in this country, to experience the freedoms that we, by and large, sometimes take for granted. I never fail, when I see a man or woman in uniform to express by deepest gratitude for their service to this great nation. Some look at me a little funny, but they all smile and say Thanks. I ask everyone this 4th of July to remember the price that has bought our freedoms. Don't forget to fly those flags and wear those pins, even though "some" think you don't need to do so to show your patriotism! I'll show my patriotism every day and be proud to do so! GOD BLESS AMERICA! ![]() GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS AND KEEP THEM SAFE!

Watched Toby's biography on tv the other night. Great AMERICAN as is everyone on this board. Our patriots that are not in uniform need to be recognized and thanked every day. As one who wears the uniform very proudly, as my father and grandfather and little brother did, I thank you from the very bottom of my heart. |
