Maybe this could be useful for all of us - kind of help one another out if we have a question or an answer. My "degree" came from my Grandma, and I wish I had written everything down that she told me! My Mom will be 84 this year and she's in good health! About three weeks ago she starting having pain in her wrist, then it swelled and went into her hand. A few days later, her other wrist and hand did the same thing. This stays with her all day and is worse in the morning. Last week, she finally went to see a Dr. and "Ali, the nurse there took my blood with a darning needle and it hurt"! The Dr. sent her home with no answers or anything to help her with the pain. The blood test came back without results. She's been icing them, but the longer this goes on, nothing seems to help. We were thinking maybe it's gout, and hoping it's not arthritis. Any suggestions for joint pain and swelling would sure be helpful and appreciated! |

Ali I have arthritis and in the past year I've noticed when I eat walnuts I feel better the next couple of days. Sounds "nuts" LOL! When I finally put two and two together I googled walnuts and arthritis and found this:
Story Link It's the Omega 3 oils in the walnuts that helps with the inflammation. Give it a try. |

BSB, I've heard for years that honey has 'medicinal' properties if taken on a regular basis as well as helping with allergies. HOWEVER, the honey has to come from hives local to where you live ... buying it off the grocery store shelf ain't a-gonna do it. So check out the farmers markets, etc ... |

That makes alot of sense, Dawg. I usually buy my honey from an Amish vendor named Peachy. But there farms are about two hours from here - think that's close enough? |

If the bees are getting their pollen from the same plants that are grown in your area, it will help with any allergies. The honey produced as close to your area as possible would be the best for you. Back when we had 28 hives of bees, it didn't take long for local people to find out about ours and bought their honey from us regularly. |

Oh, BTW, I forgot to add my home remedy in that last post. If you have sore feet and they hurt when you walk, get some powered cayenne pepper, sprinkle the inside of your socks with the pepper, put your shoes on and you're good to go. When you first put them on you will get a tingling burning sensation, but in a few minutes the pain will be gone and your feet will feel much better. |

I haven't tried it yet, but I did see it on TV by one of the Drs. that comes on as a guest on one of the news programs; Alergy help; Get the honey that is collected from as close to where you live as possible and also UNCOOKED, you know it is heated to some degree before sells. I think it was Dr. Rosenthal talking about the use of honey for allergy on Fox cable news, but I'm not for sure if it was him that said it or not? Of interest to me; Some years ago I did a search on what all the Holy Bible says about "honey" and have forgotten much of it, I am in favor of honey in proper amounts, I leave the amount for yourselves up to you. I also learned that lentels/beans are mentioned, (I love beans, but they don't seem to love me though ), I also use grape juice.I have found that although I don't think it is directly mentioned in the Holy Bible, that cranberry juice is good for my kidneys, so ever so often I drink crangrape, also grape and cranberry juice individually. Science seems to back up the use of these, I'm not saying that the things we take or eat should all be found in the Holy Bible, I just thought it was interesting those were mentioned. Ali, I'm sorry I don't have something to recommend for your precious mom and I too would like to know more about home treatment for arthritis, my sweetheart wife has it. I will be ckecking back into this topic, it is a good read. Thank you all, Duke |

I have osteoarthritis with a lot of inflamation along with it. I take A supplemment made by NatureMade called Triple Relief. it has glucosamine and MSM and Lubravite to lube the joints. You can buy it at WalMart, kroger, and online at Amazon.com. I also take Omega 3. That is very good for the inflamation and also helps to lower cholesterol. If you ever have insomnia try taking at least 500 Mg. of magnesium with your dinner. it really helps.

AMAZINGLY SIMPLE HOME REMEDIES 1. Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold them while you chop. 2. Avoid arguments with the Mrs. about lifting the toilet seat by using the shower. 3. For high blood pressure sufferers: simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure in your veins. Remember to use a timer. 4. A mouse trap, placed on top of your alarm clock, will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button. 5. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives, then you will be afraid to cough. 6. You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape. |

AMM - It takes a while for this stuff to work (glucosamine and MSM, not sure about the lube stuff) - it builds up in your system (I believe the doctor told my dad two to three months for full effect). My father doesn't take Triple Relief, but he takes different pills with the same ingredients - he swears by them. |
