This English teacher has phrased it the best I've seen yet From a California school teacher - - - "As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of: I am in charge of the English as a second language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels. Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens Huntington Park , etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools. Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK) I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK) I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America . (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK) I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant st udents here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them "Putas"whores and throwing things that the teachers were in tears. Free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc, etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements ? To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs. Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc. For m e, I'll pay more for tomatoes. We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it. Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return? It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate, and an American cul ture that has become so weak and worried about " politically correctness " that we don't have the will to do anything about it. If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know. CHEAP LABOR? Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about? Business doesn't want to pay a decent wage. Consumers don't want expensive produce. Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs. But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase "cheap labor" is a myth , a farce, and a lie. There is no such thing as "cheap labor." Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or 6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200 free. He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent. He qualifies for food stamps. He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care. His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school. He requires bilingual teachers and books. He qualifies for relief from high energy bills. If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled , they qualify for SSI. Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare . All of this is at (our) taxpayer's expense. He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance. Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material. He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits. Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills and his. The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up. Cheap labor ? YEAH RIGHT ! Wake up people! THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS WE SHOULD BE ADDRESSING TO THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES FOR EITHER PARTY AND WHEN THEY LIE TO US AND DON'T DO AS THEY SAY WE SHOULD REPLACE THEM AT ONCE !

The below article I used in my Econ Class to demonstrate what this would do the the economy. The students were amazed as they had no idea how this was effecting them. Illegals are a drain on our economy and all of them should be deported immediately. Considering I live in Colorado Springs, CO. The students were surprised. What if 20 Million Illegal Aliens Vacated America ? Tina Griego, journalist for the Denver Rocky Mountain News wrote a column titled, "Mexican Visitor's Lament" -- 10/25/07. She interviewed Mexican journalist Evangelina Hernandez while visiting Denver last week. Hernandez said, "They (illegal aliens) pay rent, buy groceries, buy clothes... What Happens to your country's economy if 20 million people go away?" That's a good question - it deserves an answer. Over 80 percent of Americans demand secured borders and illegal migration stopped. But what would happen if all 20 million or more vacated America? The answers may surprise you! In California, if 3.5 million illegal aliens moved back to Mexico , it would leave an extra $10.2 billion to spend on overloaded school systems, bankrupt hospitals and overrun prisons. It would leave highways cleaner, safer and less congested Everyone could understand one another as English became the dominant language again. In Colorado, 500,000 illegal migrants, plus their 300,000 kids and grand-kids - would move back 'home', mostly to Mexico. That would save Coloradans an estimated $2 billion (other experts say $7 billion) annually in taxes that pay for schooling, medical, social-services and incarceration costs. It means 12,000 gang members would vanish out of Denver alone. Colorado would save more than $20 million in prison costs, and the terror that those 7,300 alien criminals set upon local citizens. Denver Officer Don Young and hundreds of Colorado victims would not have suffered death, accidents, rapes and other crimes by illegals. Denver Public Schools would not suffer a 67 percent drop-out/flunk-out rate because of thousands of illegal alien students speaking 41 different languages. At least 200,000 vehicles would vanish from our grid locked cities in Colorado. Denver's four percent unemployment rate would vanish as our working poor would gain jobs at a living wage. In Florida, 1.5 million illegals would return the Sunshine State back to America, the rule of law, and English. In Chicago, Illinois, 2.1 million illegals would free up hospitals, schools, prisons and highways for a safer, cleaner and more crime-free experience. If 20 million illegal aliens returned 'home' -- If 20 million illegal aliens returned 'home', the U.S. Economy would return to the rule of law. Employers would hire legal American citizens at a living wage. Everyone would pay their fai r share of taxes because they wouldn't be working off the books. That would result in an additional $401 Billion in IRS income taxes collected annually, and an equal amount for local, state and city . No more push '1' for Spanish or '2' for English. No more confusion in American schools that now must contend with over 100 languages that degrade the educational system for American kids. Our overcrowded schools would lose more than two million illegal alien kids at a cost of billions in ESL and free breakfasts and lunches. We would lose 500,000 illegal criminal alien inmates at a cost of more than $1.6 billion annually. That includes 15,000 MS-13 gang members who distribute $130 billion in drugs annually would vacate our country. In cities like L.A., 20,000 members of the '18th Street Gang' would vanish from our nation. No more Mexican forgery gangs for ID theft from Americans! No more foreign rapists and child molesters! Losing more than 20 million people would clear up our crowded highways and gridlock.<> Cleaner air and less drinking and driving American deaths by illegal aliens! America 's economy is drained. Taxpayers are harmed. Employers get rich. Over $80 billion annually wouldn't return to the aliens' home countries by cash transfers. Illegal migrants earned half that money untaxed, which further drains America 's economy - which currently suffers an $8.7 trillion debt. At least 400,000 anchor babies would not be born in our country, costing us $109 billion per year per cycle. At least 86 hospitals in California, Georgia and Florida would still be operating instead of being bankrupt out of existence because illegals pay nothing via the EMTOLA Act. Americans wouldn't suffer thousands of TB and hepatitis cases rampant i n our country - brought in by illegals unscreened at our borders. Our cities would see 20 million less people driving, polluting and grid locking our cities It would also put the 'progressives' on the horns of a dilemma; illegal aliens and their family's cause 11 percent of our greenhouse gases. Over one million of Mexico's poorest citizens now live inside and along our border from Brownsville, Texas to San Diego, California in what the New York Times called, "colonias" or new neighborhoods. Trouble is, those living areas resemble Bombay and Calcutta where grinding poverty, filth, diseases, drugs, crimes, no sanitation and worse. They live without sewage, clean water, streets, electricity, roads or any kind of sanitation. The New York Times reported them to be America 's new "Third World" inside our own country. Within 20 years, at their current growth rate, they expect 20 million residents of those colonias. (I've seen them personally in Texas and Arizona; it's sickening beyond anything you can imagine.) By enforcing our laws, we could repatriate them back to Mexico. We should invite 20 million aliens to go home, fix their own countries and/or make a better life in Mexico. We already invite a million people into our country legally, more than all other countries combined annually. We cannot and must not allow anarchy at our borders, more anarchy within our borders and growing lawlessness at every level in our nation. It's time to stand up for our country, our culture, our civilization and our way of life. |

My class thought so and was shocked. What got them most was how it effected their taxes, wages, etc. I showed it to them using the fundamentals right out of their text books. Supply and demand for labor and how they suppres wages. The diversion of tax money to pay for the theft of services such as schools and health care. If 20 million departed and all of their automobiles it would drop gas prices as they would now not be on our highways. Just like the first article Cheap tomato at the grocery store but paid for with higher taxes and cost. It is not worth it. I want cheap tomato's and lower taxes. We can have them both. |

VMI84 I was glad to see the article mention a return to the 'Rule of Law'. That is what so many jurisdictions, businesses, employers, and citizens are ignoring. By ignoring the law they are saying it is for everyone BUT them. This is the same thing Spitzer was doing up in NY and just got busted ... folks who ignore the application of the 'Rule of Law' have nothing to say about anyone else. |

Ali, Would that it were that easy. My thoughts on this are that the incumbents are not going to impeach one of their own and actually follow thru on removing him from office. The American people are really powerless to combat the corruption without a change of attitude. Americans need to begin taking responsibility for their own actions and then demanding their elected leaders do the same. This means a clear majority of Americans need to speak up, stand up, and demand action. We are never going to find the perfect leader who pleases everybody at once ... that is impossible ... but we can demand a moral leader. |

Good article VM184. If 20 million illegals returned home Californian wouldn't have to make huge cuts in education. Arnold is laying off teachers and making cuts in education programs because we are going bust, yet he refuses to kick out all of the illegal alien students who are clogging up our schools. My sister-in-law was in her daughters school yesterday and one of the office workers mentioned that a lot of students are going to be late because they're coming from Mexico and they didn't adjust their clocks forward like we did on Saturday. |

There is a good tool to identify illegals and charge them with theft of service. If they are not US born and in school they are stealing. They need to be prosecuted. But they are just kids some would yell. Yes they are but their actions are teaching them to steal and the US will not hold them accountable. I do not blame them for wanting a better life but stealing it is not the way to get it. State and Federal officials who permit it to continue are part of the problem and not the solution. The problem in California and the rest of the country is no one is explaining how illegals affect everyone. And when some do the Media ignore it and blame the evil American taxpayer. They say we have no charity and are cold hearted. We are charitable and compassionate to those in need but not those who try to steal it. However to the illegals who take form our society I am cold hearted. I want to round them up and force march them back to the borders or the airfields and ship there A@## home. Evil me.

I agree with you Dawg, we are powerless, and there is no 'perfect' person to run our Country (yet everyone running 'claims' to be!). It makes me wonder if common sense is just 'out the window' as VMI84 writes about. If it is, then so are morals and values. When it comes to our government and anyone listening, I feel as though I'm banging my head against a brick wall. |

Illegals take a toll. 20000 Teachers to be Laid off See First Post and discover a big part of the reason for this Mass layoff. Benefits for Illegals, Illegals working for cash and not paying taxes but using services. It all adds up. In honesty though. Some of these teachers should not even be on the payroll except for the fact they are teaching in overcrowded schools that are overcrowded by illegals and their kids. California this is a self inflicted gun shot wound and the only way I treat them is with straight alcohol or salt poured straight into the wound. This is the liberal policies at work and the results are the Children suffer. Also remember one of their judges just put down home schooling. Bottom line is this. |
