Mr. Terry Guffey sent me this letter he wrote to the Mayor of Berkley and many others in Berkley. I asked his permission to share it and he agreed . Here is the letter. As the PROUD parent of 2 active duty Iraq War Veterans, PROUD uncle of an active duty Marine and PROUD friend to many Veterans, I am disgusted with your decision to allow Code Pink reserved parking in front of a Marine Recruiting Station. I see this as a provocation on your part that you and the entire city council have facilitated, and you should all be held accountable for any injury, damage and loss. Granting them protest permits is one thing, but allowing them to set headquarters directly in front of their target is totally irresponsible and asinine. What are you people thinking? Then you try to outdo yourselves in the stupidity department by telling the Marine's that they are "uninvited and unwelcome intruders in Berkeley"??? Are you shitting me? Do you people treat residents of Berkeley who are in the military with the same disrespect you give the Recruiters? I can just imagine how a soldier from your city is reacting to this. "I'm not from Berkeley, I'm from Albany, or Emeryville". While cities and towns across America are honored to have some form of military ties, you are doing your best to shame them and get them to leave. The men and women serving in the military need our support. They deserve our respect. Our Veterans, both past and present, deserve the same. Our rights and freedoms have been paid in full by America's Veterans. While you and the city council don't deserve the honor of cleaning the boots of these heroes, you do qualify to clean their latrines. You will find there are sim ilarities between yourselves and the turds you are collecting. Somebody in Berkeley needs to have the balls to step up and remove every single one of you from office and make Mr. Wozniak mayor/council pro-tem, being he is the only one who seems to have any sense. My right to speak my opinion are courtesy of a Veteran, not a lawmaker. You can thank God I don't live in Berkeley, because I would be delivering this message in person! Please send Code Pink to North Carolina, we need some fertilizer for our fields. One last comment; When a natural disaster falls on Berkeley, don't call for any help from the government, call Code Pink. -- Terry Guffey GOD Bless America Support Our Troops PROUD Military Parent, PROUD Uncle and PROUD friend to many Veterans! |

What ticks me off to no end about the moonbats chaining themselves to the doors of the recruiting office is that they were allowed to block entrance to a government office for around seven hours before police finally acted. The police basically sat across the street and 'observed' the goings on, including people attempting to pass thru the protesters and into the office. The police eventually arrested 3 protesters and charged them with misdemeaners and let two go. The third had outstanding warrants and was held. What about the rights of law abiding American citizens that wanted to conduct business in that office????????????????????? I would have been forced to try to re-up if I saw the orange-jump-suiters chained to the door. Hey, how about dragging my own chain from my truck and looping it around their chain ... then driving to the bay and dumping the trash??? I know the cops were probably acting under orders but it is WRONG for them to allow the entrance to any office to be blocked. |

James, Being embedded so firmly in liberalism I believe they thought the entire country felt the way they do. I was reading someplace yesterday, the mayor of Berkeley was considered to be one of the most left of the liberals a few years ago, when he was in another position. I think he has leaned even further. You know the libs always feel they are 1) superior, 2) privileged, 3) smarter, and 4) laws and decisions do not apply to them. Consequently they feel they can do anything they feel like while the rest of the country has to get out of their way. This is bolstered by the decision of the police to 'observe' for over seven hours while the orange suited fairies blockaded the doors to the recruiting station, even as confrontations and struggles took place when people wanted to enter the office. Sounds like a 'hands off' policy was in effect. I'd love to see Berkeley rescind the letter ... take away the parking place for code stink (which hasn't been mentioned) ... and have the federal government STILL withdraw all funding for Berkeley AND the state of California. |

That's a good suggestion about cutting off their federal funds. I think that they also get their little bitty feelings hurt when they get bombarded by email like that has been sent to them in the last few days. I'm gonna type another one soon and send it letting them know that I'm going to try to get my Senators to check into seeing if they deserve federal funds anymore since they have become so independent. Of course I will also let them know that I'm exercising my 1st Amendment Rights to tell them what I think. Maybe that will get their attention. They have developed a big head so it's up to us to see that it's re-sized back down so they can get their thinking caps back on.

Been offline a few days but I'm catching up on what's been happening. I'm really enjoying this topic. Went to mardi gras yesterday and y'all would've stood up and cheered when the 155th BCT rolled by in the parade--followed by the recruiters. Not one single "boo" could be heard from the crowd. People were going up to them and hugging them or shaking their hands. We love our military personnel down here and they get our full support. I'll try to post pictures later when I get them downloaded. By the way, the parade was lead off by the Keesler Air Force Base Honor Guard. |

I got a link to this in today's email. ...You might have heard about Berkeley’s City Council's recent vote to tell the Marines to close their recruiting station in the city. With this vote, they told the Marines that their recruiting office is not welcome in their city, and if recruiters choose to stay, they do so as an uninvited and unwelcome intruders. In response to this, I will be introducing the “Semper Fi Act” in the House of Representatives. This act rescinds all of the funding contained in the FY 2008 Omnibus Appropriations Act for the City of Berkeley, CA and transfers those funds to the Marines for recruiting... Go here for the complete article, good read. http://greeneyeshade.townhall.com/blog/g/7...0a-e560c0e7c582 |

Hot off the presses, here is the info you've all been waiting for to gather with us in Berkeley. Looking forward to seeing you on Tuesday Feb 12th. Plan ahead and pack food and drinks so that you won't need to purchase anything in Berkeley. Fighting for our troops, Debbie Lee Move America Forward - www.MoveAmericaForward.org - is calling on patriotic Americans from near and far to come to Berkeley, California and join us for a protest of the Berkeley City Council - in response to their recent efforts to silence the Marines and chase all vestiges of the military out of their city. Remember, the City Council called the Marines, "unwelcome intruders" and accused them of commiting acts of "barbarity." Well now the rest of America will be heard from this Tuesday, February 12th when we organize a giant pro-America rally to protest the Berkeley City Council when they gather for their City Council meeting. The City Council meeting takes place at 7:00 PM at 2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Berkeley, CA. Move America Forward is asking people to show up by 5:00 PM if possible - so we have a crowd gathered in time for the media crews, and so we can secure seats for supporters inside the City Council Chambers. (Note: Since the media will be covering this story all day, we'll have Move America Forward staffers outside the City Council chambers beginning at 5:00 AM. We'd sure like it if some of you could either join us for brief periods of time throughout the day, or join us for our all day pro-troop vigil!) Again - the pro-troop/anti-Berkeley City Council rally takes place on Tuesday, February 12th, outside of their City Council Chambers. We're asking people to join us by 5:00 PM if possible. The address: 2134 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Berkeley, CA. You can get a map of the location - HERE. Bring your American flag with you! More details can be found at the Move America Forward website: http://www.MoveAmericaForward.org Colorado Eagles.... Since the Code Pink group has a Wednesday event.....in front of the Marine Recruiting station.... I was thinking "I'd like to go but can't afford it". Then thought "I can't afford to not go"! So, the question becomes how do we get there and do this double event? I've found round trip airfare on expedia.com DEN to SFO on US Air $322.98 Berkeley is about 1,270 miles from Denver Yahoo say's about 18 hours travel time one way -- Rental SUV's are about $74 a day. How about it Colorado, do we have any Eagles that want to go to Berkeley next week? Debbie Lee is one of our finest Eagles, and she said "calling on patriotic American's from near and far to come to Berkeley" How about it Eagles, what do you say to Debbie Lee? Remember she "Knows the price of Freedom"!!! Friends, We have another maverick Mayor that has asked Marines to leave. This time Toledo, Ohio.................let's start the email rolling......... Here's the Mayors email: mayor.toledo@toledo.oh.gov What is it about elected officials that don't get it? They hold their positions as a result of the lives, blood, body parts, family sacrifices of our military members. Doesn't Mayor Finkbeiner understand that Toledo may one day have an Islamic terrorists target his city and may need Marine urban warfare trained Marines..... Another disgusting display of dishonoring America, and our Marines............. Harry Riley, COL, USA, Ret Mayor kicks Marines out of Toledo 1-24th Marines were scheduled for weekend urban warfare training in downtown Toledo, when Carty gave them the boot http://www.nbc24.com/news/news_story.aspx?id=94192 TOLEDO, OH -- Mayor Carty Finkbeiner on Friday ordered some 200 members of Company A, 1st Battalion, 24th Marines from Grand Rapids, Michigan, out of Toledo just before the unit was suppose to start a weekend of urban warfare training downtown. The mayor’s spokesperson Brian Schwartz said, “the mayor asked them to leave because they frighten people. He did not want them practicing and drilling in a highly visible area." Toledo police said they knew about the training and had approved the unit’s use of the Madison Building and the Promenade Park area. The training was scheduled to start Friday afternoon and last until Sunday. Police said the unit’s presence would have a minimal impact on the city. Police issued a press release earlier in the week saying the marines would be wearing green camouflage uniforms, operate military vehicles, carry rifles, perform foot patrols, and fire blank ammunitiion during the exercise. Schwartz said there was a breakdown in communication between police and the Finkbeiner administration that led to the mayor’s action. “The marines drilled here three times during the Ford administration and once under the Finkbeiner administration. After the last visit, the mayor told then police chief Jack Smith, that he did not want the marines back. Smith failed to inform the current police administration of the mayor’s feelings,” Schwartz said. NBC24 spoke to Jack Smith who recalled that after the marines last visit, he and the mayor had a heated exchange about the training. “He told me he did not want them, as he put it, 'playing war in Toledo,'" Smith recalled. "I told him, as a former marine, that if one young marine’s life is saved because of training he or she received in Toledo, Ohio, then it was worth the inconvenience.” Smith said if the mayor objected, then he should have been the one to convey those feelings to police. Smith took his run-in with the mayor as an objection to that last visit, and not future training in Toledo. As a result, the Toledo police went ahead, granting approval to the 1-24th Marines to conduct the routine exercise. The police notified members of the Finkbeiner administration, who were not aware that the mayor objected to unit’s training in Toledo. When the mayor found out, he sent a member of his staff to tell marines they could not conduct urban operations in Toledo. The unit was notified about 3:30 p.m. after an advance team arrived in Toledo. Five buses carrying some 200 marines traveled four hours from Grand Rapids, only to find out the training had been shot down. The unit briefly stopped at a another 1-24th marine base in Perrysburg Township, then returned back to Grand Rapids where training was expected to be held this weekend. A spokesperson for the marines said they were disappointed by the mayor’s decision especially after the city had been so helpful in the past. Message Merged With Appropriate Topic Already Started |

This is truly disgusting... We must help to make sure this doesn't happen again! http://soldiersplea.com/ From the site... ---First and foremost, we absolutely support our troops fighting for our country. The purpose of this web site is to request signatures for a petition and to urge people to write their congress representative to establish proper mortuary services in Iraq for our fallen soldiers. Our fallen family hero, 21 year old Sgt. Paul Saylor, died in Iraq on August 15th, 2005, and was returned to our family in an unnecessary state of decomposition so severe that viewing was impossible only 3 days after his death. Our family feels that the viewing would have provided closure and given us a chance to say our final goodbye to our hero. According to the Army Mortuary Services in Dover, Delaware, the current military procedures are to pack fallen soldiers in ice and then transport them to the United States Dover Air Force Base for a three step process: 1) Identification, which includes DNA, dental and fingerprinting 2) Perform autopsy 3) Embalming and preparation of the body Paul was not even refrigerated. If a proper mortuary facility was in place in Iraq, we would have been able to say our final goodbyes. We don't want this to happen to another soldier's family! All fallen soldiers deserve to be treated with respect and dignity, and establishing proper mortuary services in Iraq will ensure no future family members are denied their final goodbye to their American hero who died for our country. Please help us fight for those who fight for us by placing your name on the online petition on this website, and by going to the link www.congress.org, finding your government representative's address, and letting them know that you will not stand for this disrespect to be done to one more American hero. ----- |

That was my feelings on that post also. I wonder if she read the thing all the way through? It was in August and during that time of year it's pretty hot there, things decompose rapidly in heat. A few years back I found a body in a car that had run off the road in the heat of Summer and it wasn't as hot as it is in Iraq. That body in the car was pretty badly decomposed and was only there a few days. Heat and dead bodies don't go together. I guess we will need to be sending ice to Iraq to see if it will melt in the hot desert sun next, to satisfy some peoples emotions and politics. Or maybe before a war gets under way, we can refrigerate the entire country ahead of time or only pick places like the south or north pole to conduct any wars in the future.
