Hi everyone I wanted to let you all know I got my family moved to Colorado. We left on Sunday after an extremely hectic and exhausting 2 weeks of moving. I’ll be honest I’m glad I’m not going to be moving but 2 more times one more to Japan and one home and then I’ll never move again!!!

OH BTW, if you don’t have to (and I did) DON’T EVER pull an 11,000 pound trailer over a high mountain pass in the winter in Colorado!!!! It was a white knuckle trip the entire way UP and DOWN. The roads were good at the bottom but it was lightly snowing on top and when the rear tires starting slipping I had to but it in 4 wheel to make it. I had taken all the precautions for this trip and had chains but it still does not prepare you for “when” it starts to hit the fan! No folks now that that our little33 foot RV/l family home is here it will only be moving in decent weather back over ANY pass again. smiley-bouncin

I’ll return to CA next week and will be 2 weeks from deployment. I’ll catch you all up then..

God Bless you and have a great week..

GWEH

Gary,
Glad you made it home. Zach and shirley were kind of bummed that your little guys didn't get to come by. they wanted to take them sleding behind the ATV.
Maybe some other time.

Hey Gary!

Sounds like you were ready for a little practice in that winter driving :P

Kind of makes you appreciate those truckers pulling them 18 wheelers in that weather and terrain.

Experiencing the same driving here on a daily basis here - whewww snow almost every day now and sub-zero temps - kinda like the winters one used to remember we always had.

Glad to here you made it safely, and the kids and wife are all set up and ready to ride out your upcoming deployment. Your timing is almost spooky - I'll send you an email ;)

As always - GOD BLESS! and place his hands of protection over you and all your Marine Brothers and Sisters and ALL serving in harm's way! smiley-patriotic-flag-wave

Glad that you made the move alright and the trip over the pass. I used to drive an 80,000 lb 18 wheeler over some of those places myself. There was a few that I thought I would suck the seat covers off the seat though, but made it with some extra care.

So it looks like you will be departing in 3 weeks. Good luck and stay in touch. :)

I know what you mean Gary. I use to stop at Four Corners, CA and have myself a good meal because I wanted to make sure if I didn't make it I would have had a good meal before the end. Then I would head down I-15 going down El Cajon Pass, first 5 miles was like steep and I mean real steep, then the other 25 miles on a gradual slope on to San Bernadino. You ever ride the brakes and hold back 80,000 lbs of truck for 30 miles without them catching on fire and you have did something. I have seen a few trucks that never made it past that first 5 miles of steep grade, burning the brakes out, the tires catching on fire and finally running the whole set of wheels and tires off into a canyon with the truck skidding on it's axles down I-15 with sparks and fire flying everywhere.
