I have a new post on my blog that you will want to read as it has pictures that i couldn't get posted here, but you can see them there. This is how Rite Aid treats their employees after a Mother's Son was killed in the war on terrorism. I would suggest that you check this out.

Rite Aid needs to change their name to Left Aid ( The Liberal Lefties ) . Here is the e-mail to the company. contacttheboard@riteaid.com
I sent this all over and I also signed the guest book and asked the parents of the fallen Hero to contact me so I could have him honored. I also honor those that are angels now.

Rite Aid needs to hang their head in shame !!!!!!!! Shame on your Rite Aid, rather left aid.

Here is the website about the President of the company.

She looks like Hanoi jane if you ask me. Think their twins

Thanks to all that contacted Rite Aid about this. I sent an email to the Board of Directors about this, but have receceived no replies back from them. Thanks to all of you that did contact them though as it did make a difference. Here's an update to this story that I received in an email from the Patriot Guard Riders .

Rite Aid has agreed to a donation of $10,000.00 dollars to the “Wounded Warriors Foundation” in the name of Cpl. Christopher Edward Mason…. They are issuing letters of apology to Chris’ mother, I (his Father), and his brother who is still serving in Iraq….. The Human Resources Manager that spoke the hateful comment about Chris’s death is now receiving the maximum disciplinary action allowed under Rite Aid’s guidelines.

This is not good enough.

No parent should be treated this way when a child dies. We are NOT supposed to outlive our children. I have not had to go through the loss of a child but I have a pretty good idea of how hard it would be. My heartfelt condolences to the family.

I wonder if this HR manager would have been as crass as this if her son had been hit by a car while waiting for a bus? Was it that the manager just doesn't care about people at all or is it an anti-military (shades of "rev phelps" and the WBC!) attitude.

I hope that this is only the attitude of the individual and not a corporate attitude. Rite Aid's response to this travesty will tell us what we need to know and so far it has been less than correct.

The woman should have her job back, at the correct pay scale and the HR manager should be fired (maybe the woman should have the HR managers job). Anything less than that is unacceptable.

Please let us know what has happened to this family.

That statement raises my suspicion. With most companies, maximum disciplinary action is dismissal ... the fact they phrased this sentence as they did suggests to me that the HR Mgr will have a talk with her boss over lunch ... oh, and lunch will be paid for by the company.

Herb, I once thought I would know how hard it would be to lose a child, until it happened. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would affect my ex-wife and I so much. It took me over a year to realize how it had changed me and to begin to straighten myself out. My youngest died on May 9, 2003 and I still have 'tough' times although I've gotten off the path I had been going down. As hard as it has been on me, its been twice as difficult on my ex-wife, if one can assign difficulty. You are quite correct, we are NOT supposed to bury our children!!!

Here's an email response that I received this afternoon from Rite Aid. I removed the person's name but left their title.

Quote:

I have been asked to reply to your email to Rite Aid regarding your concerns for our former associate, Sue Mason.  While we cannot share any specifics related to personnel matters within Rite Aid, I do want to share that we were also very troubled by the handling of Mrs. Mason’s situation.  We have completed a full investigation of our manager’s conduct and have responded with disciplinary action to the manager and a resolution of the payroll mistakes made.  Also, at the Mason’s request and in memory of Cpl. Chris Mason, Rite Aid is making a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project.

We have directly extended our deepest apologies to the Mason family.  The way in which the situation was handled was not appropriate and is not condoned by Rite Aid in any way.  In fact, the manager, who did not handle the situation appropriately, is  the father of a son who has served in the  conflict in Afghanistan against the War on Terrorism and is very troubled by the pain and frustration that has been caused.

Our organization holds the members and families of our armed forces in great esteem, especially for those who make the ultimate sacrifice for our country.  We extend that same apology to the veterans, active members of our armed forces and concerned citizens that have written to us.

We wanted to ensure that you understand how serious we view this situation and appreciate that you have shared your concerns with us.

Thank you,

Senior Vice President,  Human Resources

Rite Aid Corporation

Excellent James!!! As it should be!!! I now fault myself for being so pessimistic. On second thought, NO I do not ... its a learned response.

Many thanks though, it actually feels good to be proved wrong in this instance.
