Rumsfeld's whereabouts are a secret right now, but they better hurry up and get him out of Europe! Under EU law, agents from France can go into any country in the EU to enforce warrants.

I'm sorry, but the former Secretary of Defense has more honor, courage and "PATRIOTISM" than all of you liberals stacked together.

You know how behind the curve the MSM is these days.... here is some commentary from a conservative with American Thinker about the recent charges against Rumsfeld....

http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2007/1...th_torture.html

With the ultimate plan by those filing the charges to be this....

”We know that we can't get him into prison right now, but it would be great to make sure that he couldn't safely leave the U.S. anymore,” said Michael Ratner, president of the Center for Constitutional Rights. "

http://www.times-standard.com/ci_7291229?source=most_viewed

Bush and Cheney will meet similar charges once their terms are up.

Perhaps so. This same group plans to press charges in Spain as well.

It wont be a waste of paper to them if Rumsfeld ends up not ever being able to leave the US without fear of arrest. The groups that are filing the charges have more or less said that is the plan.

That is their plan for the Pres. and VP in the future...

Rumsfeld is no longer in a position of power. Bush and Cheney will eventually be out of office. If a Democrat gets the Presidency, and Democrats manage to hold on to the House and Senate, do you honestly think our government is going to care if anyone in this Administration is charged overseas, and will have to severely limit their jaunting about the world?

There might be a few that would stoop that low, but I just don't think the majority would ever allow that to happen. If they did allow it, that would be committing political suicide in that the American public wouldn't accept it.

That being so, then just about any person with "political power" that visits this country can easily be arrested in response for their crimes to humanity on their turf, or others turf. And there are a good pile of them out there right now, including one that just visited this country and caused quite a stir.

If these countries do such, they had better look at their own glass house before throwing stones at another.

And they better find a way to "define" the crimes which they accuse the leaders of this country of - torture in some minds is putting someone in front of Sesame Street for 8 hours a day, while in other countries it is something that we encourage our children to do.

I agree, LL.

If other countries do not wish to honor the same standards we have toward diplomatic immunity, then we should toss them out the window as well.

Personally, I think that if one of these countries should arrest a former president, vice-president, Secretary of Defense or State, etc. they better be ready for a whirlwind of political chaos.

Sure the many libs may not give a crap about ANYONE that is in this administration, in fact they probably WISH this upon those that are in it.......but that is where their TRUE PATRIOTISM is lacking. And those libs that see what is wrong with not sticking up for their country, their patriotism may actually come thru and actually step up and defend the rights of those that once led this country. Not defending liberals here, just that some of them still are patriots and will defend their country while MANY have lost their Red, White, and Blue blood.

Speaking of liberals that are NOT PATRIOTS - one had best take a good look at one of them currently running for president - Barack Osama:

What is he even running for President for when he has no respect for the flag? If he can't respect the flag, how will he respect the office of President and be Commander in Chief of the troops that show allegiance to the flag?

And, the UN, we should have pulled out of that worthless piece of crap years ago. If countries can make up rules to arrest former politicians of this country and the UN sits on their duff doing nothing about it, we don't need to be spending money on an organization like that or being involved with it.

Rumsfeld has no diplomatic immunity. He no longer works for the government, and he was not in France on a diplomatic mission.

Not to mention the groups making the charges have military personnel that were at Abu Ghraib willing to testify against him. Oh, and those pictures don't help.

Although Bush has immunized Rumsfeld and others from prosecution in the International Criminal Court, they could be tried in any country under the well-established principle of universal jurisdiction.

Maybe, maybe not!

Of course, if they manage to steer clear of those countries, and any countries that allow extradition to those making the charges, members of the Administration will have nothing to worry about.

"Rumsfeld's whereabouts are a secret right now, but they better hurry up and get him out of Europe! Under EU law, agents from France can go into any country in the EU to enforce warrants. "

Looks to me like an invitation to visit FRANCE to me and I would advise Donald Rumsfeld to do just that is if he wants to visit a country of two national flags one white and then the other interchangeable one !!!

Yes, his whereabouts are unknown to me and many others right now and maybe that is a good thing, I don't think he is hiding though, but there are nutcases that would like to do him harm and he should be protected no matter where he is at.

If I were a betting man I would lay big money on Donald Rumsfeld being able to openly visit France right now for a few weeks and leave freely when his visit was over!

To think that France or for that matter any other country would arrest him is very far fetched and would be a very big mistake in the excercise of idiocy gone wild.

This topic is such an excercise in this members eyes, to borrow a comment I've seen another member make on occasions "pitiful" and "childish", you notice I wrote this without having to use cuss'n to show my mature manhood or my depth of disagreement with this topic,

Thanks,

Duke

If I were a betting man I would lay big money on Donald Rumsfeld being able to openly vist France right now for a few weeks and leave freely when his visit was over!

To think that France or for that matter anyother country would arrest him is very far fetched and would be a very big mistake in the excercise of idiocy gone wild.

This topic is such an excercise in this members eyes, to borrow a comment I've seen another member make on occasions "pitiful",

Thanks,

Duke

He was in France when the charges were filed, then "disappeared" after he was made known of the charges.

** edited with a link to the story of his visit to France.....

OBTW, BA, In islamic countries it is considered torture to force someone to sit through any but an islamic service.

Anyone that sides in any way with the islmonuts doesn't deserve ANY respect.

Can anyone tell BA (as a citizen of iran) what would happen to it if it talked about the president of iran this way (who by the way is a REAL torturer/murder/terrorist).

I would love to see the US charge Ahmenajad under universal jurisdiction when he leaves office. We are well within international law to do so.

When one reads my post and the edit date "Posted: Oct 30 2007, 03:16 PM" one can clearly see it was being edited when it was quoted, my apologies to all for that.

If as an attorney or an individual in a foriegn country I found out there were charges within that country that had been filed, I at first would get home and would look the situation over from a legal stand point.

I would think that would stop an international incident from getting quickly much worse.

I'm sure right now that most any president of the U.S. (Rep. or Dim.) would do their best to get this straightened out and I'm thinking that is what will happen.

For any country to do something as unadvisable as arrest Donald Rumsfeld is an excercise in stupid far fetched idiocy.

Before this is over Donald Rumsfeld should visit France fairly soon.

If Donald Rumsfeld is some kind of war criminal, so am I and many others on this website because we supported him, I am willing to back him up and I trust the U.S. gov't. is too from what I know.

Has anyone on this website even wrote to you something like this "
I don't like you"?
I ask that because it has happened to me twice(thus far),

Duke
