I haven't seen anything that said that anyone asked the bar owner to correct his mistake before it was taken down.

RENO, Nev. - A controversy over the proper display of the American flag came to a head Monday as cameras were rolling.

It began when a store in Reno, Nevada hung a Mexican flag above an American flag.

That's illegal.

While a photographer from NBC affiliate KRNV was outside the business an angry man claiming to be a veteran walked up to the flagpole and cut down both flags with a large knife.

The owner of the business is an American citizen and said he didn't know what he was doing was against the law.

He said he had bought the flags last week to replace old ones and he put the Mexican flag on top to support the Hispanic community.

In addition to the law saying no flag can be flown above the American flag, if you fly two country's flags they must be on different poles and they must be similar in size and height.

Condor,

Thanks for your reply.

I think we can agree on this one:

At least the bar owner and hopefully a few more people now know that flying the Mexican flag over the flag of the U.S.A within our border is seriously frowned upon by some folks, in particular during what has been and is going on now.

Have a good night, actually morning to you and all,

Duke

I want to give y'all an update on the Veterans that tore down the mexican flag.

I have been in touch with him a couple days after the incident happened. I have talked to him on the phone also. I also talked to him on the phone today and he is not in any trouble for what he did. No charges were filed and I am glad. He is going to be honored .We are in contact on a regular basis. smiley-patriotic-flag-wave

I think that if the glory seeking vet had asked him to take it down first and he had refused, I would side with you folks on this. Nothing I have read said that happened. Everything I have read said that he saw it and went home to get his Kbar. I even read one report that the vet alerted the media before he did it.
