I just got this email alert in and I have sent my strong message to the New York Times. MRC Action ALERT Breaking News from the Media Research Center Your immediate action is requested. See below for details From Douglas Mills, Executive Director This time, The New York Times has gone too far. As you probably know, MoveOn.org ran an ad in the Times attacking the honor and integrity of Gen. David Patraeus. The ad called him "General Betray Us" and accused him of "cooking the books" to mislead the American people on the war. Now word comes that The New York Times gave MoveOn.org a price 60 percent below its normal rate for a full-page ad in their Sunday edition. And today, NewsBusters reports that the Times own advertising staff admits to rejecting advocacy ads from conservative groups! Action: Tell the Times you are outraged I'm calling on EVERY member of the MRC Action Team to immediately respond to this latest New York Times outrage in two very important ways. Click here for Action Items and more: http://www.mrcaction.org/r.asp?u=2173&rid=11888451 Did the Times "cook its books" to help MoveON.org sponsor the ad? According to published reports and our research, MoveOn paid just $65,000 for an ad that normally costs $167,000. How did the Times do this? The Times will not say, but our staff has learned that the Times does offer a deeply discounted ad rate. But that rate is only for filler ads that the Times can run any time in a seven day period and anywhere in the paper. It "just so happens" that MoveOn's ad ran the day before Gen. Petraeus began his testimony, in the Sunday edition, in Section A! This is either an amazing coincidence or the Times "cooked the books" for MoveOn.org and the liberal agenda. In fact, as MRC President Brent Bozell said during an appearance on "Fox News Live" this week, unless the "New York Times can explain itself away and show how this was some incredible coincidence, they are a co-sponsor of that despicable ad"! Go here to send a strong message to the Times now: http://www.mrcaction.org/r.asp?u=2173&rid=11888451 The Times must come clean Over the last three years, the Times has been undermining the war effort and affecting morale, and now by running this radical ad they have gone too far! Until the Times comes clean about how MoveOn.org got prime placement at such a discount, I want to deluge the Times with thousands of phone calls and emails from MRC Action Team members who are outraged by this latest and most blatant example of liberal media bias! We cannot allow this kind of behavior to go unchecked, and we are counting on you to take action. Thank you for standing with the MRC. Douglas Mills Executive Director Media Research Center P.S. Again, until the New York Times explains to American people why they "cooked their books" for MoveOn.org, we MUST keep the pressure on them through phone calls and emails. After making your calls and sending your email, forward this message to your friends and urge them to take action with you as well. The Times doesn't deserve to be used as a spot for the dog to take care of his business. What THEY DO DESERVE is to be fined and shut down...............

I've heard their subscriptions are dangerously low. Kind of like every Left wing communist radio station that has come out in the past decade ... opening day the media gives them tons of free publicity about how they are going to give the news AMERICA wants to hear ... and six months later they're off the air and bankrupt |

It wasn't long ago that The Times was sold - which makes no difference as to how a newspaper/its owner's should hold integrity. This only shows that most everything in America can be bought and sold for the almighty dollar ...even the truth. .......BUT ONLY IF WE BUY IT!! |

I have sent so many emails to the nyt that the electric current must be contributing to global warming. They still do stuff (?) like this. I don't read that rag to start with and would never pay money for it. No way I can hurt them so they don't care what I think. |

Herb, I got 3 automatic replies from them letting me know that they got my email and one of the replies even said that the editors read all the emails sent. I figured after they read mine that it went into file 13. <_< |

The New York Times has actually admitted to making a mistake in granting MoveOn.org a deep discount and premium placement for their attack ad of General David Petreaus! On Sunday, The New York Times' Public Editor, Clark Hoyt, apologized and specifically noted the more than 4,000 email messages - the emails YOU sent - raging at The Times "with words like 'despicable,' 'disgrace' and 'treason.'" My bet is that it was no mistake. My money says that they got backed into a corner with other organizations demanding the same price and had to claim it as a mistake instead of a sweetheart deal. |
