I have been noticing in the last few weeks how Gov. Huckabe seems to be more and more like the real deal as far as a conservative values candidate and how much the media has down played this guy right from the start. I know, I know, most say he doesn't stand a chance but, couldn't this be because people are already buying what the media spin doctors are selling. I mean it seems like Huckabe is right on, on national defense, the borders, the disposal of the IRS and implementing a new tax code and especially abortion, marriage and the other moral issues . This guy seems like the dream candidate for the Christian right , so what's the problem other than big money and the blessing of the media moguls. Do you all know something I don't?

I like what he wants to do. I don't know why he is so far behind the other candidates though.

I have been mulling it over on this election and some of the Republicans I just don't like or would vote for them at all. I don't like Guiliani and I don't like McCain. What I have been thinking is which one of the Republicans is going to make it to run against the Democrats. Now my problem is, if one of the Republicans make it to the runoff that I didn't like, who would I vote for. I don't like Hillary Clinton at all and I don't like Obama. I don't know much about Edwards other than he was Kerry's running mate and I despised Kerry. I considered him a jane fonda side kick that was basically a traitor.

I think the whole election hoopla started out way to soon. What do some of you think?

Pete's watching the Republican debate right now. I can't stand to watch it - like you Almtnman - it's just to soon. Politicians can't keep promises, their tune will change before the election ....you can almost count on that!
I like Huckabe, and I also like the fact that he hasn't got a lot of big 'backers' financially. None of the runners should be allowed 'donations' from big business.

You know sometimes, I think we need to question the powers that be and I can't help but wonder why Huckabe, Tancredo and Hunter have already been counted out of this race before it even starts. I don't like polls because I think they are fixed and I don't like the talking heads of the media because they always have hidden agendas. I believe that the media has to much power in deciding who can run and who can't . I thought Huckabe really did a great job and ran circles around the pack in the debates and I heard he just finished second in some straw poll but, the media still will do little more than acknowledge he is even in the running.

I have to admit I don't really know much about Huckabee and where he stands on the issues, even after watching the debate tonight, so I just went to the ontheissues website and looked around a little. I didn't read everything because I'm kind of tired but I did read this about his stand on immigration and I don't like what I read.

Problems with McCain-Kennedy: credibility; secrecy; spending. (Jun 2007)

Allow in professionals as legal immigrants, but seal border. (Jun 2007)

Change rule barring immigrants from running for president. (May 2007)

Path to citizenship if illegals admit guilt & pay fine. (Jan 2007)

Share costs of legal immigration between states & federal. (Feb 2001)

Federal government should deal with criminal repatriation. (Feb 2001)

Import farm workers from Mexico. (Sep 2001)

I did not see the entire debate but, I saw the highlights and it looks like Huckabe took it to them, yet again. I really liked the part where he took it to Ron Paul over the War in Iraq. Huckabe is sold out to the idea of Total Victory there and he was a little irratated with Paul who is a cut and run man. I am really starting to like this Huckabe even if he is an Arkansas Governor.

As far as illegal immigration is concerned I think he's more of the same that we have right now and fought against.

Change rule barring immigrants from running for president

Q: Should we change our Constitution to allow men like Mel Martinez, born in Cuba, and Arnold Schwarzenegger, born in Austria, to stand here some night as candidates for president?

ROMNEY: Never given that a lot of thought, but with Arnold sitting there, I'll give it some thought, but probably not.

Gov. THOMPSON: No.

HUCKABEE: After I've served eight years as president, I'd be happy to change the Constitution for Governor Schwarzenegger.

Path to citizenship if illegals admit guilt & pay fine

What we cannot do is allow our laws to be flagrantly broken, acting as if the economic benefits to consumers justify their utter disregard for not only our laws, but potentially our security. In the case of immigration, our laws are clearly out of sync with the economic realities of our global marketplace. It would be sheer folly to attempt to suddenly impose strict enforcement of existing laws, round up 12 million people, march them across the border, and expect them to stay.
What does make sense is a revision of our laws, one giving those here illegally a process through which they pay a reasonable fine in admission of their guilt for the past infraction of violating our border laws and agree to adhere to a pathway toward legal status and citizenship. In exchange, our government gains the capacity to know who is here, why they are here, where they are, and whether they carry a communicable disease. But much of the debate has become mired more in definitions than in a real solution.

Dad gummit Linda, you just had to rain on my parade didn't ya. Thats good though, we need to know and this is how we find out. Like I said, I am really in the early stages of finding out what this guy is about. He is still a lot of what I am looking for in a candidate and I will add one more thing. He is strong on the second amendment and was the first Governor ever to hold a concealed carry permit, He is against all lawsuits that hold firearm manufacture liable for crimes committed with firearms and says he will not allow any more infringement on our rights as citizens to protect ourselves. Am I willing to sacrifice Border and Immigration issues for the rest. No, not on your life!!!!!!!
I am taking the wait and see attitude though. I know Tancredo and Hunter are strong on these border issues but where are they on the rest and can they sell it?

I still present the question of, why aren't these guys getting mentioned by the press as viable candidates?

:thinking about it:

Gobblerblaster I was afraid you might not like me posting this, but I'm glad to know that you took it in the spirit in which it was given. It's for the truth. We need to know where these candidates stand on all the issues and make our minds up from there. I keep thinking back to when George Bush was running the first time and I liked what he had to say. The second time I was saying I still like him, but I don't like his immigration policies; and look at what happened. I don't want to make that mistake again. I want something done about this problem now. I don't want to have to wait 4, 8, or more years for something to get done.

Tancredo and Hunter are the strongest on those issues right now. I heard Duncan Hunter on the Michael Savage show today and I was so thankful that Savage gave him the air time because his show is national and a lot of people got to hear him today. He said he would have the border fence built in six months and he wants us to pull out of NAFTA.

I have been watching Duncan Hunter for a long time now because he is from my area. I am aware of his voting record and he has always voted the way Conservatives would want him to vote.

Check out where they stand on the other issues. I think you'll be happy with what you find out.

I know they are waaaaay longshots, but we can pray for them. We still have time.

I believe it's because of Tom Tancredo that this issue is staying front and center. Tom Tancredo doesn't dance around issues, he addresses them up front and honestly. He was given a hypothetical scenario that two or three nuclear bombs have gone off in the U.S. and there was a person captured who knew where the next bomb was and when it was going to go off. He was asked if he would use waterboarding or torture to get the information we needed, and he said he would do whatever it took to get that information in order to save us from another nuclear bomb. That's probably not a Politically Correct answer these days, but it's the answer I wanted to hear and he wasn't afraid to give it.

I don't know why they don't get the air time or who makes those decisions but I don't think it's a fair way to do things.

I think if we knew who was making these decisions on who to give air time to we might know who is pushing so much of the rest of this globalist agenda. I know you all probably think I see black helicopters or watch to many movies, but I am convinced that there is really something rotten going on and has been in the works for a long time, and most of America is oblivious to any of it. The Main stream media has way to much power to form the opinions of all these brain dead people that watch the nightly news and just accept that they are getting the truth. I don't think there are enough Americans left that think for themselves anymore and because of it , we are liable to wake up one morning with a she devil in the White house (I think ole Swanj hit it on the head). I pray not.

:praying:
