MEDIA RESEARCH CENTER NEWS REPORT FOR JULY 7, 2007 Unable to compete in the market place of ideas and tired of having to battle conservative talk radio, liberal leadership is moving forward to reinstate the Fairness Doctrine in an attempt to silence it. Reports indicate that the measure is "completely on track," and Democrats intend on linking talk radio to "hate crimes." Beginning in 1949, broadcasters were required to present both sides of a controversial issue, but in 1987, the Reagan administration allowed it to lapse. Politics aside, this latest effort by liberals to silence talk radio should be viewed by all as an assault on First Amendment and Free Speech rights. Read the entire CNSNews.com article: http://www.mrcaction.org/r.asp?u=1889&rid=11888451 What did the real PEW poll on Marriage and Parenthood yield? Well, to find the real results, one needed to dig deep into USA Today and the Washington Post to uncover factoids like 65 percent of Americans say single women having children is bad for society; and 59 percent say the same about unmarried couples. In fact, a resounding 70 percent say a child needs a home with a mother and a father to grow up happy. Hmm, imagine the rant Rosie would have spewed about this had she still been on The View? Unfortunately, the mainstream media prefer to promote a different set of values such as cohabitation and unwed motherhood being up. I suppose we shouldn’t be surprised. Our own Culture and Media Institute documents its own survey finding that 64 percent of the American public believes the media are an important factor in forming our moral values.
