EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THESE PATRIOTIC YOUNG AMERICANS that wears the camo or desert camo uniform are "awsome" Americans. Gary would know better than I, but every story I read about our Native Americans serving this country has a great deal of pride in what they are doing (and that is quite evident in Gary's writings) and their families do as wel. They are true "Warriors" no matter what MOS they do. ALL of our soldiers are taught how to be true American Warriors - in reflection of those that are the backbone of this country - hard working "WARRIOR" Americans. Working hard at their jobs, being mom and pop, or whatever they do. These profile stories of individual soldiers are outstanding! They make our military personal with us - and they REALLY shoudl be! They ARE us - patriotic, hard working, AMERICANS. God bless them all! |

It's funny because as I ran into other Natives in Iraq we just seemed to "comment" On top of that I was very surprised at how many I ran into! I had to council a Chaplin over there as he had a Navajo girl who gave a very nice speech at Thanksgiving at the chapel in Navajo and as he introduced her he said "she is full blooded Navajo" He didn't know but that was an insult and I was embarrassed for her so I spoke to him and just told him that there is no need to validate to the world her bloodline. You don't have to be 100% pure blood to be a Navajo or Lakota or Sioux . She was a very nice girl and she didn't say anything but I knew and I said something. He completely understood and didn't take offence to me saying something so all in all we still had a good day and she was able to participate using her language. See the Navajo believe their language is the strongest medicine they have as it has done so much over their history to include helping end the war early and with such a decisive victory! Anyway thanks for posting this story! Not a bad looking girls as well. I spent the 4th of July in AZ on the rez at their annual 4th of July pow wow MAN WHAT A GREAT TIME! It's amazing how great music can keep you going. They had over 250 dancers and 9 drum groups

We had a Gunny in La Paz. His wife was native and cooked (Apache?) her food. He found out that I liked hot food and invited me over for a dinner at his house. He told me that his wife was cooking her food and that she would make some of it hot special for me. She did! It was HOT! But so delicious - WOW! |

Yes WW II is what I'm talking about. The Family is in Keyenta AZ about 60 miles from the 4 corners area. BUT the rez takes up most of the upper half of AZ! |
