Your activism won -- America won because of you -- Amnesty loses 46-53

This is one of the biggest victories I've ever seen for grassroots activism.

I'll write more in a few minutes. Just wanted you to know in case you weren't watching C-SPAN.

We need 40 NO votes to beat this cloture vote.

Instead, we got 53!

18 Senators who vote YES on amnesty cloture on Tuesday switched to NO today!

You all are absolutely amazing.

Halellujah, thank God Almighty!!!! All of our calling, emailing, faxing, and PRAYING has paid off and we won!!!! We took our country back!!!

I like how
this article puts it.

Quote:

WASHINGTON - The Senate drove a stake Thursday through President Bush's plan to legalize millions of unlawful immigrants, likely postponing major action on immigration until after the 2008 elections.

Responding to a stinging political setback, President Bush sounded resigned to defeat.

The conservatives hailed the demise of the bill as a fitting death of an effort that had thwarted the will of the American people.

legitlinda,This is true and much to be happy about. Now we must make the same calls and send fax's and emails to the same people and demand the existing immigration laws are enforced to there letter as we are a nation of law or surly the bill of Americas dermises will return to fight once again.

I called/wrote to all of my reps, multiple times, on this issue. I absolutely cannot understand the eagerness some people have to make the US into a 3rd world nation. If they can't see past the votes they hope to gain and on to the cultural disaster that awaits beyond it, then they are truly blinded by ambition. I grow increasingly cynical about all politicians.

The state of our country, especially as I view it in light of similar historical events that preceded the fall of both Greece and Rome, makes me VERY apprehensive about what our country will be (or if it will be) when my daughter reaches her adult years.

Congratulations to all !!!

"The price of freedom is ever vigilance."

We still have things to do, those folks will do their best to ram their wants and desires for America over our wanting America protected and properly respected.

We can also be grateful to and for the folks in leadership that have stood up for what is right for our country.

God bless them too,

Duke

Yes, you are right - there are only TWO right things to do, and hopefully our pols will do what is necessary to get them done:

1) enforce the existing laws

2) secure the border by whatever means is necessary to protect this country from harm

After those two are done, THEN they can start to talk about letting LEGAL immigrants into this country by LEGAL means.

That has been the problem, they just haven't been enforcing immigration laws. I hope that they have received the American people's message loud and clear and start.

Tagging this link on to this thread. Interesting tidbit within this article ...

Democrat Congress

Quote:

Details remain fuzzy, but numerous Republicans argued afterward that they had secured a 215-213 win on their motion to bar undocumented immigrants from receiving any federal funds apportioned in the agricultural spending bill for employment or rental assistance. Democrats, however, argued the measure was deadlocked at 214-214 and failed, members and aides on both sides of the aisle said afterward.

Uhhhh say WHAT??? The dems want to give employment and/or rental assistance to ILLEGAL ALIENS??? My gosh, the communist/socialist/muslim/islamic terrorists HAVE invaded the congress of the United States of America ... and this aiding and abetting measure was tagged on to an agriculture spending bill??? Are we growing illegals or what??? I believe if illegal immigration IS an agricultural problem that it is time to use liberal (no pun intended) dosages of ROUNDUP!!!
