If there was a democrat that makes any sense at all, it has to be:

Zell Miller

Quote:

Former Sen. Zell Miller says abortion has claimed the lives of more than 45 million Americans since 1973, and is to blame for manpower shortages in the U.S. military and the looming Social Security crisis.

............

"If those 45 million children had lived, today they would be defending our country, they would be filling our jobs, they would be paying into Social Security,” Miller said, according to LifeSiteNews.com. "Still, we watch as 3,700 babies are killed every single day in America. It is unbelievable that a nation under God would allow this.”

..............

Miller also said embryonic stem research is the same thing as abortion.

"It is not a proper fate for a human being made in God's image ... killing is wrong when it is called abortion and it is just as wrong when it is called research," LifeSiteNews reported.

Miller urged others to join him in taking a stand against abortion.

That's definately a Democrat I would vote for. I didn't know who he was until I heard him give his speech at the Republican National Convention in 2004. Oh my GOSH!!! I couldn't believe it! He had me standing and cheering in my living room!

You can click on the video on this page to hear him.

:yay:

Now that would really shake things up. I wonder which way would be up then. What do you think the media could do with that?

Heck, he'd make a better president than most of the Republicans we have to choose from.

Being from Georgia I have heard Zell Miller speak from the floor in state and federal floors of Gov.
As the Gov. of Ga. he brought in the lottery which I opposed and I still think that using gambling money to support our educational system here sends a bad message to our kids and over all communities.

When our Republican U.S. Senator Paul Coverdell passed away a few years ago then Dim. Gov. Roy Barnes a liberal appointed ex-Gov. Zell Miller to fill his office until the next elections, that was a fairly good political move because of Zell's high ratings among some of us Republicans.

In the last several years I have heard Zell Miller speak a few times at our Republican conventions and other party gatherings and while I support and respect his stands on several important issues I had still rather vote for a more fiscal and social/moral conservative Republican.

That said, let me restate that I support him on many important issues and I add that I appreciate his voting ratings by some of the groups I support.

I surely support him faaar above what the Dims. have running for president right now, I even took some pics. of him.

Thanks,

Duke

Hey Duke, they just 'say' that the lottery (highway tolls, too) will help out our schools....they don't! I'm not sure where all that money goes, but it sure isn't to our public school system!

Ali,

I didn't know you lived in Ga. too.

The lottery money here went originally to the schools then they expanded it for the HOPE scholarship program for college students that meet certain requirements.

Of course there is always those who want to get at the money for this and that other "good cause" as they say.

They did the same thing here Duke! The NYS Lottery Scholarship....what a joke! Our kids typed their essays while I was mending their high school books with duct tape and covering them with brown paper (to last long enough for another kid to have next year). They should've called it 'the thowin' the dog a bone scholarship'! Five kids would win a whopping total of $1,000 - maybe enough to buy books for one semester! (and that's at community college!)

I have to agree with you CW.
The elephant party has some slim pickins this time around.
