... and why is this a surprise??? Layoff of workers Every minimum wage increase in history has resulted in 1) layoffs and/or 2) increase in prices which resulted in 1) layoffs and or 2) more increases in prices The dems only plan is to say what the audience wants to hear at any particular time and the hell with America. The next thing I expect to hear from these idiots is that welfare payments are increased because welfare parents (illegals and other generations) cannot afford to live at the minimum wage ...

I don't support the minimum wage increase either from my understanding of things at this point. This should be a good topic, IMHO. Thanks, Duke |

Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Once again we get to pay for their mistake. I won't make any more but I will pay more for things I buy. |

I heard a guy talking on the news the other night about the increase in minimum wage, and if employers had to increase it, they would probably turn around and take it out of your health insurance - the employee would have to pay a higher deductible! bsb - I heard that States that did increase the minimum wage had less people on welfare. That might be good....IF it's true! AbidinHim - your answer made me wonder if anybody there on Capital Hill cuts coupons, or waits for something to go on sale before they buy it? (or lives 'without') Dawg - you're right! They will be the first to scream "this is unjust"!! |

Ali I have not looked at welfare numbers for a long time. I do know PA is doing okay financially. Of course we lost Santorum who was the #2 (maybe #3) Republican in the Senate...so I am not so sure how we will do know without that kind of power behind us. We still have Specter - but he does not serve my interests at all...... We will see how things go here over the next several months - I have a feeling it will either remain the same - or be really really bad... (ya know - no in between)<_< I should say I am pretty much in the dark on these matters....economics baffles me. (and too boring to read about!!) |

bsb - I honestly don't think we would be 'in the dark' or grow tired of learning about the economics in our States, if someone were to just be honest and tell us the truth....then again, it might be more than our heart's and mind's could handle and send us right off the edge! |

The hike in the MW serves no purpose except to get a foothold for the Dems in the next election and give them something to spout at conventions and on the campaighn trail. However it does help drive small business's to do lay-offs and bring the un-employment numbers up so they have another platform when the election comes next year. Think about it the only thing the Repubs have going for them right now is the economy, this is the Democrats way of trying to bring that down too. Its about power folks. They don't care about the welfare of the people in this country. It is also about their Socialist (one step away from Communism) views and agendas. They want a country were everyone is equal (equally poor) , this is another attempt to level the feild. Take away from the Haves, that earned it and give to the have nots, which in turn will register to vote because they want the Government to be a huge handout program and take care of them. I might sound like a redneck and thats ok but I think if you live in this country and havn't worked study unless your dis-abled or a stay at home mom with a working spouse you shouldn't be allowed to vote. Thats the way I see it.
