The U.S. gave $12 billion for the rebuilding of Iraq ... and it's gone! Just disappeared! One of the guys in charge of getting the money distributed said something like; there is a war going on, and we were under a lot of stress. |

That is one great thing about getting a government so huge, no one can keep tract of the money it takes to run it. It will be Corruption that brings this country down, it fact will we even know when its last breath will be taken? Has it already happened? When government no longer thinks of the money as the peoples money then we are lost. |

Never let your right hand know what the left hand is doing. and visa versa. This is a good lesson on how not to manage your money. Maybe we should spend some money on programs so our gov't can handle stress better. Unfortunately these days this is not an isolated incident. Just a personal observation but, "boy are we in trouble." |

There are only three reasons to have a national government. 1. provide for national defense 2. deal with foreign governments ( you can't have states making foreign treaties ) 3. regulate interstate commerce Nowhere in the Constitution is there anything about "public works". Public works (pork) by the federal government is unconstitutional. While true that the federal government can produce greater public works than individual states, federal public works that benefit only one state should be outlawed. If that state can't manage the public work by itself the federal government shouldn't fund it - that is RAW PORK. Combine this practice with the practice of high population states voting themselves the tax money of low population states (as the northern states did after the Civil War) for their public works, and what you have is federally sponsored theft. This unlawful practice is what is destroying the federal system from within. This practice could be outlawed by a Supreme court decision - that would cure the disease. Public works should be financed privately and pay for themselves, not by the federal government. George Bush exceeded his power when he embarked on nation building; his job was to defeat and eliminate a military threat. He is religious right, but politically liberal and activist. He is a bad president. The federal military is not a Public Works organization, and he is losing because he used the military in a misbegotten attempt to create a foreign country. The MILITARY IS NOT A PUBLIC WORKS ORGANIZATION. This is why billions have vanished down the doody hole - there is no way to keep track of US tax dollars given to FOREIGN GOVERNMENTS. It is a TERRIBLE PRACTICE but what I expect from a Harvard educated politician. The Liberal Left may be a bunch of lying treacherous snakes, but George Bush screwed up royally and its time to rein him in - he doesn't seem to have learned from his mistake. NO MORE MONEY TO THE IRAQ GOVERNMENT GEORGE. SPEND IT ON OUR TROOPS THERE or DON'T SPEND IT AT ALL. If you want to continue with the fantasy that George Bush is a conservative who knows what he's doing more fool you - I can't go for that. You're on your own friend. |

From what I've heard about it, this was from gold that belonged to Iraq, that Sadaam was tryin to ship out of Iraq to somewhere else.. The U.S. captured the gold and then after Iraq was settled and the new government put in place, repaid with U.S. Greenbacks.. |

We have been giving foreign aide to coutries for many, many years and this is no different. It is in our countries best interst for Iraq to rebuild correctly. Grits, I disagree with you completely on this matter. Maybe you should look into how much money Clinton gave away to undeserving countries, such as North Korea..... At least Iraq is trying for a democratic country....not building and testing nuclear weapons. |

They didnt say Mtn Man.. But I was led to ASSUME that the gold was still in U.S. hands.. They said that U.S. Dollars were givin back in place of the gold cause the Iraqi Dinar was now worthless.. I dont know if you saw it or not, but after we went into Iraq this last time, the Troops caught several truck-loads of gold bein sent to Syria from Iraq.. |

They are all UNDESERVING COUNTRIES. It's amazing how quickly we fall from the Constitution and the wisdom of the Founding Fathers, then wonder how we ended up in the Wilderness. Any banker will tell you the last one you loan money to is someone who needs it - but bankers live in the Real World. I will GIVE money to a starving man. He's starving because he lives in a fantasy world of bad choices. When dinnertime's a-comin you don't grasp at straws - you get your butt out in the woods and get meat for the table. Bottom line. The man is doomed to starve because I can't keep giving food from my children's mouth to feed a self-deluded fool - my charity just prolongs his suffering. Is that a good thing? Federal foreign aid is Unconstitutional; the Founding Fathers didn't make decisions by tossing darts at a board. They knew quite well what they were doing and were the greatest minds of their Age. We didn't invade Iraq to gain territory for another state, we did so to eliminate a military threat. Yet here we are trying to make an American state out of a sow's ear - how did that come about? The Founding Fathers didn't intend for us to be exporters of the American Revolution; they saw with horror what exported revolution did to France. Madame Guillotine leading a blood-crazed mob. They set out a Neutral Ground - come here, start fresh, leave the evils of the Old World behind - come build with us, build a dream - but leave the Old World behind and don't try to rebuild it here. We won't have it. That's IT in a sentence, boiled down to the Bottom Line. What we do here won't work in Iraq any better than it worked in Revolutionary France, and it is folly to attempt it. We have a vile old cult of the Old World that wants to come here and set up shop, and we are fiddling around trying some starry-eyed nonsense that the Founding Fathers forbade us. GAIN a MILITARY VICTORY in Iraq and GET OUT - stop the nation building crap. It isn't what we were built for. Obey your Founding Fathers and stop ad-libbing it. The US Military isn't a Public Works organization, it has one task - kill people, break things, and gain VICTORY. All these weenies are doing is showing the US Military how to turn victory into defeat. Stop paying off the Mud Men of Mesopotamia to behave - they won't no matter how much money you pour down them - use that money to gain a military VICTORY. |
