What did yous guys think of it? What I found interesting was Bill O'Reilly's guest before the address. Yep, she was pretty attractive! But she gave a good lesson on watching body language, too. Using those lessons - you could watch Pelosi's pretty obvious body language. Every time the president brought up a "touchy" subject, her lips persed, her tongue was licking the lips, and some other rather obvious facial "body" languages. From the lessons on Bill's show - she was pretty uncomfortable and P'd off. Otherwise the president had a pretty good speech. Announcers noted he would not talk about immigration reform, but he did. It was not what we really wanted to hear, but it is something. Now, I'm listening to the "talking heads" rebuttle from Webb -

I listened to Webb. I didn't hear him mention a thing that hasn't been the Dim agenda since the day that the judges announced that Bush's lawyers had beat out Gores lawyers in the game of power through DS. Bush did not attack the Dims! They certainly can't say the same, can they? For sure, I saw only one olive branch. The other side was carrying a pair of sneakers. |

I took Webb's speech as almost a threat. Like you can either do it our way or we will cut the purse strings. The pathetic thing is with the alligience of the cowardly repubs the Dems probably can. One thing is for sure though...the Dems don't see the war in Iraq as serious. They don't see it at all connected to the War on Terror or do they just cherish the power so much that losing the War with Terror isn't nearly as important as their losing their power in congress? jaytalker |

It was interesting to say the least about the new Speaker of the House's body language as she sat back there. She started out good, but then GW got into the Iraq situtation and we noticed her squeezing her lips and looking like she was biting her tongue. Her eyes was rolling around and a couple of times, I thought she was going to lay an egg. I'd like to know if she watches the video of how obvious she was feeling as the camera was showing all those facial expressions. They were very obvious and she wouldn't stand or clap when he was talking about Iraq. She had a disgusting attitude!

I tried my best to watch the entire address but had to keep walking away. I went off when President Bush began talking 'guest worker' BS ... my wife had to remind me to watch it that this was our president. The dems were disgusting with their body language, and actions during the speech. I thought it was a telling display when I believe the SGT was being introduced and a call went out about victory ... 75% of the dems remained seated and unresponsive. All in all, it was a better speech than the President normally gives but it was lacking. I am so durn tired of the kid gloves he treats dems with and wish he would pick up Sherrif Pusser's ball bat!!!!

Hello fellow Compatriots of the CDB board, I finally made it over from the cat fight. My estimation of the SOU speech is it sounded like Bush isn't backing off and the Dems are spouting the same old tired rigamorole we always here. Wave the white flag and join France in the Claim to shame of surrender cub

i missed it because of work but this morning i was listening to a radio station out of louisiana. every caller to their morning program was pissed because the prez didn't mention anything about them and the ongoing hurricane(s) recovery. the main person slinging mud at the prez was louisiana's democrat governor. she's accusing him of playing party politics--paying more attention to mississippi because our gov is a republican. she needs to get over it. louisiana is still getting their fair share of money and the recovery and rebuilding is still going on. i think she needs to focus on that and not pout because the prez didn't say anything about louisiana. hey, haley isn't raising hell because he didn't mention mississippi. |

Hey STEVEN, good to hear from ya! And Gobblerblaster - welcome! I take it you turkey hunt. We sure have our share of them big critters here in WI. I just watched Tony Snow on Hannity and Colmes. VERY impressed with his reponses to Colmes (lies) and an extremely good description of what our troops are going to do in Baghdad. He's got me sold - the dems on the other hand - DEFEAT, and that's all they have been spewing! No alternatives!

CW, When Tony Snow accepted that position I withheld opinion because he was part of the MSM and I couldn't give you two cents for the lot of them. The times I have had a chance to listen to his press conferences, I've been quite impressed. He appears to be well versed, takes little BS from the reporters, and handles himself quite well. President Bush made a good choice here ... |

What did you think of the president's idea on health insurance? I'm not sure if I fully understand it, but it sounds like folks will get a tax break for their health insurance. bsb is our "on the Mountain" tax expert here, she can better splain this than most, but looking at a tax form from 2005, you have to multiply your income by 7.5% and subtract that your medical expenses from that before you can even get a tax break currently. For a 50K income that means you cannot even add it to your long form until your medical expenses are over $3750. That's IF you can even claim the long form. I'm one of the folks that has the employer take out medical insurance BEFORE taxes, giving you a break. Shouldn't the folks that do not have this available to them get basically the same break? I'm all for giving these folks the same break, if I understand him right, and it does not adversely effect our current income taxes. |

I may not be remembering this correctly but I was under the assumption that the health care relief was directed toward those in the lower (minimum wage) bracket. I can agree with medical insurance reform but more along the lines of making them pay what they collect the high monthly fees for. I was super happy with my 'retiree' medical until I got married again ... that particular company doesn't accept new spouses. Because of that I have to get insurance through the company I now work for ... of course that makes them a primary, and my retiree benefits a secondary ... its no durn wonder that I have heart problems ... its from dealing with dang insurance companies!!! I told my wife I was going to quit all my doctors and my meds and the he$$ with all of them ... that didn't go over too well, siiiiiiiiiiigggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! |

Gotta agree with ya there, too tDawg. Fighting battles with med insurance companies as well for trying to get a "hardware" prescription filled with something that will work. Finally am giving up and am going to use the medical savings plan to get the right thing. It's still gonna cost, but at least I'll get a tax break, and hopefully medically "fixed". |

I thought our President's speech was to the point. He's not backing down - that's what I got from it. This morning, I heard O'Donnell (on The View) say that the President should be 'impeached' - that we 'are not living in a Democracy any longer'! Just makes me wonder how many people in America are going through this war with blinders on. |

I still haven't heard any politician that understands the issue with the medical industry. The object isn't to find new ways to pay the horrendous charges, but to drive them downward. You know where the problem is when you compare prices of stuff in hospitals and stuff that is specifically medical to the prices of the same materials in the consumer economy. If mechanics belonged to the AMA, I could buy a car for $2,000.00, but the oil change would cost $5,000.00 and the mechanics would have accounting firms with office administrators being the highest paid employees in a gas station. The handwriting is on the wall and no one is reading it - except us country folk. |

Sorry, warrior, I know Social Security stuff...like benefits and eligibility....FICA taxes - some stuff... All I know about deductions is I paid around $3,000 for health benes (after taxes) in 2005 and could not deduct a penny!! This year I paid $3,400....but I didn't look at the forms yet for this year.....still waiting for a W-2. I agree if employers can take it out before taxes, why can't people who pay out of pocket enjoy the same benefit? |

I've spent some time watching the reactions to Georges speech. I can't believe that these supposedly intelligent people in the house and the senate are going to do what they are doing to our president and this country. If we pull out of Iraq the way they are advocating, we will be the laughing stock of the world. Do these imbeciles honestly believe that we will be safe here if we do pull. Consider this my friends. -- The dems get their way and we pull out. Next--- they firmly believe that they will have the next president. Because we pulled out of Iraq we would not be taken seriously by the terrorists. Believing that the American people have not the stomach for war, they hit us again. The democratic party puts us in a war of their own. This assure them of a second term because our history says that Americans don't change horses in the middle of the stream. By that same logic, if we pull out it will be that much easier to get their candidate in the White House. The biggest problem as I see it is, How many lives will be lost needlessly, regaining what we have already accomplished. What these people will do and the lives that they will cost America for their own egotistical power goals is beyond what most Americans could imagine. Politicians are not any smarter than the average American, they're just more conniving and ruthless. Power does corrupt. Pray for our country, God is our only hope and salvation. |

I thank the President was on his game the other nite.. I didnt watch it but read the transcript and heard a few clips on the radio.. He sounded better this time than the TV speech he gave a while back and his message was a good one too.. One thang I did catch was that he said "NO AMNESTY".. He did say Guest Worker Program, but we are gonna have that anyway.. Already do.. And it sounds like he is on the TEAM to increase Troop strength by the 92,000 that was requested.. I dont thank the Health Care Program will ever see the light of day tho.. The Hildebeast will be promotin her HillaryCare and will be talkin down the Administrations ideas.. Obama is comin out with a Plan too and with those 2 competin they will kill any other plan.. I listened to Tony Snow for several years on the radio before he took the job as Spokesman.. He is really a nice and STAND-UP kinda guy.. I shared a few e-mails and got his news letters and learned that he aint nobodies fool .. I thank it said as much for G.W. too when Tony joined him, and it said a lot for G.W. to ask a man of Tony's caliber to be his spokesman.. Just seems that they have the same GOALS, and that suits me fine !! Tony has been showin a lot of enthusiasm lately that I dont know where its comin from.. From what I've learned of Tony, he wouldnt be a good poker player, if you know what I mean.. But seein Stretch(Pelosi) squirm like a worm on a hot rock the other nite, I do believe that there is a lot goin on behind the curtain that I dont know about.. But from what I hear, John McCain is gonna stick his nose in the Iraq Battle between Congress and The Administration.. Lest I remind ya'll of how it turned out when he has stuck his nose in before.. We caint afford another McCain-Feingold or Judicial Pact result when we are dealin with Iraq and Iran !! And what about Rudy ?? Well, Kim du Toit puts Rudy at the VERY BOTTOM of his Second Amendment list and thats good enuff for me !! |
