How many inches do you have? I am not a fan of winter at all but here in Montana it snows. The first year we moved here it snowed in June. Imagine that !!! Stay safe . If you make snow cream make sure it is not yellow.

So far we have about 5 inches and we're not half way done yet. It's suppose to let up sometime in the next 24 hours or so. But, monday it's starts up again. |

Sorry in the delay I had to go to the next town up and got stranded for the night. My truck isn't a 4x4 but my work truck is. I couldn't have made it anywhere without one yesterday. Plows and sand trucks are out today so the roads are pretty good and the sun is out. Looks like your going to get a good snowing as well. I don't mind driving in the snow driving on ice is another matter. |

Yupper, just takes a lot more care and quick reflexes to dodge all the other bumper cars. Here at Quantico, we just got our first 'snow' of the year. There is about 1/16th of an inch on the road, if that ... I just figured out another problem with these illegals ... the SOBs can't drive in inclement weather. I just took a trip out to the store, tested the road surface a few times and found it to be fine, just wet. The illegals are out too ... they're lucky if they are doing 5mph on the 4 lane. AAAARRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!! I felt like lassoing their bumper and taking them for a sled ride    |

Thats another area they should learn about. Driving on snow and ice. A buddy of mine stopped to helped a lady that had lost contorl of her Honda Ciciv last weekend. We got about 2-3 inches of just ice. Anyway come to find out this gal was driving on ice with her cruise control on !Yep you guessed it she was illegal and got sent back across the border. The fence she went through belonged to a farmer who got to repair it out of his own pocket.  |

I remember back in the early 80s when I had my house at Spotsylvania Courthouse VA, two teens were exceeding the speed limit, as teens will do. On a curve they lost control and took out a fence at the edge of the road. The judge told them that part of their penalty was to buy materials and replace the fence along the road. It was only about 100' and they took out about 20' but they worked one entire weekend replacing and painting that fence. Good lesson for them and did everyone's heart good that drove past that weekend. |

We had one of those brain challenged people at work tell me that as long as they were driving at highway speed with their front wheel drive car, that it wouldn't hurt a thing. I asked this coworker how they managed to stop when someone slowed down or stopped up ahead? Duh! <_< |

Frday night, we finally got a 1/2 inch (yes, a whopping 1/2 inch) of snow which quickly turned to ice - I could not believe the number of Pennsylvanians that couldn't drive home!!!! This idiot in front of me kept sliding sideways...going down a small hill and kept hitting the brakes. I suppose no one ever told them about 1st and 2nd gear. I didn't have to use my brakes til I got to the red light. Four wheel SUV drivers flying on the highway....goofs - saw two in ditches.... The lousy 1/2 inch made it impossible to park on the hill I live on....had to park at the bottom and walk home. |

Right now we have ICE coming down! Frozen water, not immigration that is! Have about 1/2 inch so far and it is still coming down. With the ski slopes in my county, we get a lot of crazy drivers. They buy the expensive 4WD vehicles and come to the mountains! The problem is they don't know how to use the 4WD! A friend of mine does nothing but drive the roads to the slopes, hooking his winch up to vehicles that have slid off the road and pulling them out for $50 a whack. Manys the time when the vehicle is 4WD and when he looks inside the 4WD has not even been engaged. He pops it into 4WD, drives it out of the ditch, and takes his $50 bucks! Here's yer sign!

When there's snow or ice on the roads I just take my time. Where ever I'm going will be there when I get there. I love the winter and I want to see as many more as possible. |

RT, How often is it that Texas gets snow?!! I love the pictures you posted - they're keepers! We live in NY at a high altitude and just got our first significant snowfall yesterday! It sure has been a crazy winter! Do you (or anybody you know) even own a snow shovel?!! |

Ali, you don't happen to live near Saranac Lake do you? I have an email friend that lives near there. He has a bulldozer that he uses to push snow out of his driveway. |

Hey James! No, Saranac Lake is a bit further North, but here in Cedar Lake we've got fella's with bulldozers, too!! (great things to have!) We put the lawn mower up for the winter in October and Pete got the snowblower ready for the winter months .... we've been ready and waiting! Last night he went out to clear the driveway and the cog-pin broke off the back wheel and it fell off! He might just be thinking of getting a bulldozer!! |

Ali, Glad you liked the pictures. Our daughter got my wife and I a digital camera for Christmas and thats the first time I used it. To answer your question, it really depends on which part of Texas. I've lived in San Antonio and remember one snow fall in two years back in the mid 1960s. Up in the DFW area snow isn't all that unusual. Ice storms are more likely. Here in the panhandle I can't say it happens more times than not but we usually get something. In 2000 (the year I moved here) we got an 18 inch snow two weeks before Thanksgiving and Christmas was a 3 footer. Thats most since 2000. Our total this time was an even 12 inches. |

We got about 3-4 inches today. Nice light stuff. Can't wait for the morning if the sun is out and if the wind don't blow it off the pine trees. Puuurrttyyy. They say there was a little more along the lakeshore, so the XC skis may get brought out. Need a few more around the house before they can be used there. |

The 4 wheelers and sleds have been out all weekend. 4x4s pulling teenagers in car hoods around town. It's been a sight. The weather man kept saying all weekend we were going to get more snow today but I don't think it's gonna happen. The sun is out and the roads are starting to melt. Our high is going to be in the mid to upper 30s. |

Tami, I love the snow too! Especially at night when the moon is big, it sparkles like diamonds! Even though it's white, it brings some color to a gray world up here! I just can't stand the cold anymore!! RT, it sounds like you are happy, down there in Happy! Bundle up and keep warm!! The temp got up to about 11 degrees here today, and tonight (by the way the cold hits my legs when I let Bud in) it's below 0! I'm just hoping he's laying on my side of the bed, and got it all warmed up! |

Our dog, Jackson loves the snow. There is a 3 foot snow drift behind the house that he dove head long into. We heard him bark but it kinda sounded like a hmarf. He started jumping til he got out then chased a snow ball back into it. After that he was ready for the warmth of the house and his blanket. |

Down here in eastern South Carolina we get very little snow. There are times when we have a lot of sleet and ice. For those of you who do not play golf it is good to have a pair of golf shoes with the metal cleats on the bottom of them. Then you can walk a little safer on the ice without falling down and upsetting your day. I play golf and I have about 4 pair which I keep handy for the incliment weather. Hey, I'm 70 years old I have learned a little something in those years. I just don't use it a whole lot. I tell you there is times when acting dumb is a valuable asset. |
