Hi All, Almtnamn and the rest! Got a question?? Since I am new to forums, etc, and don't know how a few things are done thru the software, etc. I was just curious! The talk is about a old message catatory. Is it possible that one can delete their own topics, or can only the moderator of the group do that?? The reason I'm asking! Over the last year since I first joined the CDB group, and now this fine group, I have created a few different topics with animations, etc and also mostly replies to others. I know that as the board fills up with many topics, and some that aren't read to often, and a few times, some not even replied to! I think it is a pretty full time job for a moderator to be deleting topics after a certain period of time, especially if they haven't shown any activity! I have always thought it would sure be nice if I noticed one of my own topics that hadn't shown much attention, that somehow I, thru control panel or somehow, Delete My own topic if I see it hadn't had much response. It sure seems to me that it would sure save the forum moderators a lot of time and hastle if they didn't have to go throught topics looking for inactivity on that topic and deleting it! I am just curious, thats All! I am not a computer Guru by any means, but it sure seems that if one can create a topic or reply, and in a few minutes, can go back and edit it or even delete it, why wouldn't he or she be able to go back even a few days later and delete it! Of course the software would have to be set up so only the author of a topic, could only delete thier own topic, and not others of the forum. Again! I'm just curious thats ALL!! I sure surely wouldn't mind going back and tracking down my own stuff and deleting it. SwanJ...I'm not lazy!! Of course, thats only my own opinion! My Wifes opinion may differ with mine! Me Wife |

The system is set so the moderators can delete them. It doesn't take long to delete one when myself or one of the Mod's are notified. I moved all the older posts to the bottom of the forum, just scroll dwon there and you will find them. BTW, you can still reply to them there, they will just stay in that area though. If I notice that they are getting active once more, I'll move the ones that are back up. |

Duke's view/thoughts; I sure have taken part in some topics that I wound up wishing I had not taken part in for sure and surely would have deleted all my replies to it except I had already been misquoted and had to leave them posted. The problem with being able to "delete" a Topic one "starts" is, that others may have already replied to it and would get all riled up no matter how old or what the topic was, better if the Mods. keep and bear that responsibility. SwanJ, I respect your thoughts and good intentions here, I just wanted to add my thoughts. ( on another note/topic)-A thought to all; If there is a problem with Mods on deciding which topics to delete or who to warn, it is more than likely that "they are human"( go figure ).Thanks, Duke |
