This is where the school board should be denied funding until the entire board is replaced.

Common sense takes another shot in the mid-section.
The way things are going we'll be lucky to see anything in '08 that resembles the country we used to know.

I think that is taking just abit far. THis is America and we speak primarily English. I think that if the other nationalities that come here ought to be made to speak Englis first and formost. I would expect no less if I were to go to Mexico and have to learn Spanish. JMO

you know, the cubans tried to have spanish made the official language of the schools in miami...didn't fly, 'least not yet...if you go to miami might as well pretend yer in mexico, 'cuz if you can't at least read spanish, you're screwed...

we got lost in miami tryin' to go to the zoo and no one would give us directions 'cuz we didn't speak spanish...finally 'bout 2 hours later, we found someone from texas who gave us directions back to I95 northbound...man were we glad to get out of little havana! God bless Texas! :)

i got no beef with learnin' a foreign language...i'm all for brotherhood as y'all oughta know by now...but, yea, don't come here tryin' to make us match where you came from...if you want it like that then do it amongst yourselves or go back home...that goes for damn yankees too! (love y'all!) i like to experience things from other cultures, but it shouldn't be shoved down anyone's throat...

So what's the 'politically correct' name for something like this? Back in the day, we had a thing called segregation.
Hearing about the things that go on in America today give me wrinkles in my forehead.

Mouse,

I had the opportunity to visit Miami on several occassions and even had a bro-in-law marry a cuban woman. She was a beautiful woman but my gosh was she set in her ways. They divorced after a couple of years. I had a difficult time reacting to street signs in spanish etc etc etc .... even Cuban Sandwiches in the supermarket deli. The cubans are no better at driving than the mexicans and running red lights is a way of life down there. My bro-in-law lived in a really nice house but had bars on the windows and graffiti all over his brick wall that surrounded the house. In that respect, I am NOT for brotherhood. I am for taking the mexicans and cubans to the 12 mile limit and kicking their butts off the boat, telling them to get home the same way they came.

Visits to other parts of FL have not proven to be as offensive to me. I love Key West and visit there often. There is nothing like Duval st ... wellllllllll, mebbe Beale St in Memphis ... anyway I love it down there

Ali,

If it works toward the eventual downfall of America, it does NOT have to meet the rules of Political Correctness. If it benefits America THEN we have to invoke the ridiculous.

Linda,

Ahhhhh you KNOW I couldn't let this argument go by :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: Different cultures <north/south> moving to whatever part of the country is one thing. When the one culture <north> constantly ridicules the other and attempts to shove their lifestyle down the others throat, it becomes something else. The southern way is more laid back, probably due to the remoteness and warmer climates ... the nortern way is aggressive, hurried, and obnoxious probably due to the closeness of cities and colder climates.

Rule #1 - NEVER but NEVER dis the flag!!!

Rule #2 - Don't try to imitate 'rednecks' ... its not a disgrace, it is an honorable title <look it up>

Rule #3 - Tractors in town does not make the people dumba$$ hicks

other rules also apply but figgered I'd better stop here ... Love ya!!! OOOOOOOOOOH yeah, one other thing, a Ford F-150, Dodge 1500, Toyota whatever is NOT a pickup ... it is a car with a truck body!!!

Mouse,

Yes'm, at one time Key West declared themselves their own republic. It is a place that many ways of life appear to meld quite amicably. I love visiting there but really don't think I could live there.

The first time I visited I had a prime room on the top floor of 1 Duvall St that overlooked Mallory Square <sunset festival> and the ocean/gulf <they kind of meet right there, not sure which was which>. Anyway, our first morning there, I threw open the curtains to view the sights and lo and behold I found a cruise ship had just docked and everyone was 'shoreside' looking directly into my 'eyes'!!! I never knew them ships was that high :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Your TX trip sounds like a ton of fun too. Wish I could win the lottery and do it full time!!!

Dawg,

That's some serious dark! Did you ever see the movie Rhinestone with Dolly Parton and Sylvestor Stallone? Oh my gosh it's so hysterical. She makes a bet she could make a country singer out of anybody and the person she gets is Sylvestor Stallone. I'm telling you I could relate to that movie. When I moved out of New York I was in such a culture shock and it was just San Diego!!!!

You should rent it if you can find it. You and your wife will probably get a kick out of it!

P.S. I'm not talking about Rhinestone Cowboy, it's just Rhinestone. :bye:

I have had to learn 2 languages to live in this country, English and Southern. I refuse to learn a 3rd, spanish.

I grew up in Oregon and then was stationed in Eastern North Carolina. The 2 languages have started to meld but when I first moved to NC, 1976, Down East was a REALLY foriegn language.

Went through Avionics training at Millington, TN. Spent every spare minute (and dime) in Memphis. Had a great time there.

A buddy of mine had a 53 DeSoto station wagon cut down to a pickup. Hemi V8, 3 speed on the column with a clutch on the back of the torque converter. We could get 38 bales of hay on it and still climb a 6 and 1/2 % grade with no trouble. It would haul more than his dad's 51 3/4 ton Chevy and do it faster!

We hauled TONS of hay with that thing. Anything that will haul a load is a truck in my book. Course if I can't get at least 3 dirt bikes in it I have no use for it.

By the way, anyone that can make a hay hauler out of a Desoto station wagon can make anything out of nothing. Redneck has nothing to do with location. It is an attitude. :rotfl:

I was haulin a big load - 19 tons of 2x4's.

4 lane with no one else in sight.

Had it right on the speed limit - can't let Smokie put me out of business.

Now here comes............. a school bus.

Took a full minute to pass me - at one mile per hour over the speed limit. I looked over at the woman drivin and thought "What the Hell are you tryin to prove Lady?"

She gets ahead of me
pulls in front
and throws out the Idiot Sign.

STOP

Jesus Christ on a Popsicle stick!!!!!!

I was standin on the brakes - both feet.
Kids at the back windows of the bus, looking at the trucker scream GET BACK KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!

I'M NOT GONNA MAKE IT FOR GODS SAKE GET BACK KIDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they just kept lookin

just before all 50 thousand pounds of me and my rig plowed into them

the load shifted with a sound like the Crack of Doom BLAM!!!!! The rear window cracked against my head.

the kids jumped back and I jerked to a dead halt inches short

Thank you GOD!

I don't believe in slappin women around, but I threw my cab door open and was going up to drag that stupid idiot woman out through that little bitty window to her left and give her a body slam on the pavement when she saw me and scratched off like a mouse runnin from a cat.

It all gets down to what little people do.

If I was a bus driver I'd tell those board weenies told me that, why.... I'd yell you dang ENGLISH SPEAKERS GET ON THIS BUS NOW!

It all gets down to what little people do.

Ain't no excuses.
