bsb and countrymouse(?) were asking what the heck I was doing SAW (stuck at work) on New Year's eve.

Well some of us need to keep a fire watch on an empty building. Usually they find the lowest man on the totem pole of electricians, or the most gullible maintenance electrician, just in case a light bulb burns out. smiley-bounce-fire

So there ya have it - I'm a lowly shift maintenance electrician. smiley-green-bouncin

What do you do for a living?? :banana-man:

PS - on my time off, I'm my wife's sex slave :o smiley-10-sign smiley-git-r-done

A good old and wise friend of mine told me back in the early 1990's that the State Department was going to start promoting mostly women. I asked how they would do the job because I knew a few by then. He said, they will just bring people like us back under contract to do the job - they get the glory. Down side, it cost three times as much to run government as it used to.

Not trying to step on toes here, but that is truly stated.

hahaha I have a woman working in my unit that will come in giddy on some mornings. She will sometimes bring hot chocolate/cookies for the marines at the gate ... if they give her a rousing 'OoooooooooooRah', it makes her day and she is floating on cloud nine all day long and tells me about it several times

... and yes, she's blonde

Beernut, there's nothing lowly about being an electrician. My grandfather learned the electric trade and opened his own little mom and pop business, taught his five son's the trade and of course they were his crew. He was still climbing telephone poles when he was 85. He was a tough old guy, kind of like Popeye.

P.S.- I bet your wife thinks you're a real live wire.

I am officially a Customer Service Technician for Social Security's 1-800 #. I had my first day on the phones tonight - after 13 WEEKS of classroom training. (Anyone ever been through government training? They read to you for 13 weeks!!!) Tonight I only disconnected two people and got accused of being a criminal who was responsible for all the homeless in the country.....b/c I steal all of their money.. :( ..but I got 4 or 5 compliments for being helpful. My brain is now mush!!!! I think there's some oatmeal in there!!! Geez, there's alot to know. I thought I had most of it down, but as soon as that first call popped in, all the book-read knowledge fell out of my left ear.....

Did I mention that I used to be a government instructor too? Taught computers, air defense digital systems ands computer user courses. Last course was a one week course that integrated Information Management Officers into the Foreign Service at the Foreign Service Institute. Beltway bandits wanted me to stay on the beltway and teach that one under contract. They simply can't figure who does what in the Infromation Resource Branch and thusly, have no idea who to sell to. Five and a half years of the beltway was enough. You have to make 300K per year to have a living wage there!

Yep I hear you!! I worked at Quantico and DISPISED going to DC. Don't even get me started but the money you had to make to live there is just insane. NOT my kind of life! They could honestly pay me 1 million to work there and I would tell them to pound sand and KMA!!
