The name of the town was chosen, it is thought, because Amarillo (Spanish for yellow) was the longtime predominant name for geological features in the area, such as the yellowish soil on the banks of the nearby Amarillo Creek. Found this on the internet. |

OK then how about these. Why doesn't glue stick to the bottle? Why do they use sterilised needles for death by lethal injection? |

Glue and a solvent reside in a bottle of glue. The solvent keeps the glue from sticking inside the bottle. [elmers.com] A solvent keeps capped glue from sticking. When you squirt the glue out of the bottle onto a piece of paper or a broken china cup, the solvent gradually evaporates, allowing the glue to get sticky. The solvent molecules bounce and jiggle at the surface of the glue-solvent mixture and some get enough energy (when neighbors slam into them) to escape. That's evaporation. Outside of the bottle, few solvent molecules remain near the spread glue to hit it and renter the mixture. So, gradually enough solvent molecules leave the mixture that the glue gets sticky. It's because law states that people - even on death row - have to be treated humanely and a jab with an infected needle isn't exactly humane. Also, bacteria can still breed in a dead body for a considerable length of time. You wouldn't want to go the a funeral to find that a healthy person suddenly looked like they actually died of the plague or something It's different in the capped bottle. The solvent molecules evaporate inside the bottle-just as they do outside the bottle when you spread the glue. However, once airborne they don't have far to go. They're trapped in the bottle. Some of the solvent molecules near the surface of the glue bop into and reenter the glue. That's condensation. Gradually--as more and more solvent molecules crowd into the airspace above the glue-solvent mixture--more and more solvent molecules reenter the mixture. Until, eventually, as many solvent molecules leave as reenter and the mixture reaches equilibrium. Glue manufacturers make sure the glue mixture stays runny by choosing a sufficiently small air space when they fill the bottle. You may have noticed that old glue in an almost empty bottle gets viscous or even solid. It's a good idea to buy only enough glue for use in the near future. As far as sticking to the bottle is concerned, here's the poop from Elmer's glue: "If it were to dry out or harden, it would form a very weak bond with the special nonporous plastic used to make the bottle and could be de-bonded or removed easily," says Robert Thompson. |

This little article I found on the internet. This might explain better. This is about ADHD ( I have it ). I'm not a child but I still am suppose to go by this. Have you ever heard of the Feingold Diet ? The first thing to look at is your child's diet. While some professionals dismiss this as nonsense, I have see some spectacular changes in children once certain foods have been removed from their diets. Not all children respond, but there are definitely some children who do - and quite dramatically! Things to avoid are soda pops (especially cola drinks), anything with caffeine (again cola drinks, coffee, Ceylon tea and chocolate), food with high sugar content as well as anything containing tartrazine (an artificial food coloring) or artificial preservatives. One must make allowances for the occasional treat and freedom to enjoy a birthday party for example, but educate your child and be firm about what he may and may not eat, especially on school days. The response to catnip is the result of a gene in the cat; if the cat doesn't have the gene, it cannot physically react to catnip. Some cats will react to catnip by rolling around on the floor in delight, others will just quickly eat it up and wander off, while others will ignore it completely. |

Not to deviate from the scintillating subjects on hand but..... One of my granddaughters has had massive mood swings since she was 1. She would go from laughing and singing to crying or mad at the world in 1/2 of a heartbeat and no reason we could see. It has been a real pain. A few months ago a friend of ours who's son is alergic to gluten said that she acts just like him when he has something with gluten in it. We have been working at keeping her away from anything with gluten and the change is amazing. Sure can tell when she gets food that has it. It is impossible to imagine the different things that have it. Food alergies are really strange things. The last few months my wife has been doing research on food alergies in general and gluten alergy in perticular. It is amazing what kind of things can happen. ![]() OBTW, I don't know is on second, Who's on first, What's on Third and Where is shortstop. I think He's in centerfield..... but then again it might be Him.
