Me and 2 of my friends are trying for the second year now to come down from Indiana for a weekend to try to get some hogs. Sometime between the end of deer season and the beginning of turkey season. Probably the end of February.
Last year we went down to Lowndes but had no luck. We walked through swamps and palmettos for three days and saw a total of 2 hogs! I am hoping that anyone might have an area that they need help thinning out their hog population. If you are interested or have any leads that might help us, we'd really appreciate it! We would camp at the nearest campground so as to not be a burden to anyone. If you can help or point me in the right direction, my email address is marty_amy@earthlink.net
Thank you,
Marty

marty,

don't know how far south you wanna go, but google the newspapers in ocala, st. petersburg, tampa, lake city, live oak, gainesville, fl....you might find hunt land leases...also, check the realflorida website for links to ocala nat'l forest...there's some hunt land around avon park bombing range that's free primitive camping...not sure of hunt regulations around there, but you could probably find info online...i do know there are lots of wild boar 'round those parts though...good luck and good eatin'!!!

I honestly thought this was going to be a Rosie O'Donut joke.

On the serious side www.freecycle.org
might be a place to post for free. I have seen people post asking for different things on there and I don't see where this would be a problem for you to post either. I wish you luck.

Marty, if you want to drive a little farther south down to the Mobile Delta, that place is running alive with wild hogs. The state has about 50,000 acres of state owned land to hunt on in the Delta. All you have to do is go to one of the fish camps or boat landings on one of the rivers that run dwon through the Delta, launch your boat, a flat bottom works real good and motor to an area that looks like a place where deer or other game might be. Pull your boat up to the bank, get out and you should be able to find wild hogs plentiful just about anywhere there. You have to be out of the boat to shoot as it's against the law to shoot from the boat. The Mobile Delta region is just north of Mobile.

We used to hunt swamp bunnies on the delta too. All of those reed thickets were loaded with them. We did shoot from boats back then, it was legal then.
