I'll say a some.

I was born in S. Ga. in 1951 and lived in several places over the years.

Got involved with alcohol and then drugs and was active in the '60's in the so called peace/social revolution.

Got into a real bad situation with drugs in '73 and had to call on God to help me and He did and I started serving Him.

Now I'm involved in the opposite side of the social revolution to help undo some of the mess us leftist hippies and those who believed/believe the way we did back then.

My life and outlook is very different from back then for sure.

I'm pro-life, pro-2nd amendment, pro-America, pro-war on terrorism, pro-family values, I pretty much fit what some left wing liberals call a "right wing radical Christian conservative republican" coming from that my old bunch I think it is a compliment, and yes there's much more.

I also left a lot of spaces of times and happenings in my life out, but we'll all get to know each other better on here over time.

There's funny stuff, goofy things, some hunting stories, and so on...

I forgot, you said "tell a little about ourselves", so I'll spare ya'll any further time in reading this post.

God bless America, our Troops, their families, and help our leaders.

Thanks,

Duke

Howdy all,

I just registered after being told of this site by Almtnman. Looking forward to meetin' all ya'll. I'm a vet who grew up in the navy, served in the army, and have been working on Quantico VA since 1977. If'n you count a six month stretch of helping to install a new phone system at Langley AFB for NASA, I guess I've got most services covered. No offense to Coast Guard personnel.

One other thing that I wanted to let all the new members know, I can add any kind of topic to the forum, it only takes me about 30 seconds when I'm online to add whatever any of you has an interest in. So let me know if there's a topic that I don't have on here and I can add it for you.

Hi everybody,

I was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. a lawng, lawng, time ago ;), was raised on Staten Island until I was fourteen, when my father who was a Special Agent with the U.S. Customs and was transferred to San Diego in 1970.

Had my "hippie" days, and repented of those days and did a 180 turn around.

You know what they say, "If your're 18 and not a liberal you have no heart, if your're 40 and not a conservative you have no brains". :P

I'm relatively new to this forum stuff and didn't know there was such a thing as "netiquette" until I read the forum rules on this site. Thanks Altmnman. I didn't know using all caps or bold was considered yelling...yikes...no wonder I got some replies I didn't understand. :(

That reminds me of something funny. After 12 years of marriage I found out the my husband thought I was always yelling at him. I said " YELLING, I'M NOT YELLING AT YOU, THIS IS THE WAY I TALK"! :lol2: Did I forget to say I'm Italian? :D

I'm glad Altmnman started this site and I'm sure we'll all have a good time here.

Hi everyone....I know most from the other site...but I never really "introduced myself" on either site - so here goes:

I am a life long resident of NOrth Eastern Pennsylvania. This should not be confused with the town of North East, Pa which is really on the western side of the state...

I was VERY liberal until I was about 29 years old. At the age of 29 years, some very life changing things happened....all right in a row: NASTY divorce while going through a Tubal (ectopic) pregnancy, two car accidents, moved three times, two different jobs, cancer and two other surgeries, etc, etc, etc, (yeah there was really more.....I just hit the biggies) all of the above happened in 1 & a half years time. I then became very angry at God and partied like hell for about 2 years.

At some point, I tired of all of this and went on a mission to find a new religion, studied Wiccan, Buddha, Seventh Day Adventists (they scared me), among many others....Then I remembered the NIV Study Bible my dear fried Joe gave me for my 30th birthday, and began to read it. I rediscovered God and Jesus Christ, and eventually my views shifted to the conservative side. NOw I think I would be considered Hard right...what can I say? I think the only things I disagree with the on the Republican side are the death penalty and lame immigration policies they want to pass.

I would not change the things that happened to me in my late twenties, early thirties, as they have made me who I am today - and I like who I have become.

I enjoy many differnt types of activites. I like camping, fishing, and berry-picking. I also like going to the theater and museums. I don't like hunting, but love to go with people who hunt - I usually just sit there and enjoy the cold and the wildlife around me. I take PBJ's cupcakes, and a good book. My ex-husband thinks I did not see any deer in the woods...truth is I just didn't or couldn't shoot them. I shot a bunny once and cried for a couple of days. I was done with it after that.....I am a good shot...better thatn the ex was with rifles...not too bad with hand guns either.

I love and respect this country and I love and respect our militray....

I am done with :blablabla: but I think this pretty much sums me up!!! Oh - I do this too much (.....) after sentences....I am trying to stop.....but it doesn't seem to be working......so sorry if it annoys anyone.....I usually mean for it to represent a pause in my speech. <_<

BSB.....Welcome smiley-welcome-sign I am sure that you fit right in here with the rest of us. I always enjoying reading your posts and your support for our military. Our military members need all the support we can give them at this time.

I sort of swell up when I hear someone say, well I am for the military but I'm not for the war. To me that's an oxymoron as it is coming at the men and women in service and in harms way with a two edged sword. They don't need to hear stuff like that, they need to hear from us, we're behind you all the way and we're behind you in your service to the country in combating terrorism and the war. If they're fighting a war, I'm sure they want our support of them and the war itself as it's why they're fighting for us and our freedoms.

I've been to PA several times and I always was very impressed with how scenic it was in the areas I traveled especially those mountain areas there.

bsb,

Sounds like you have experienced allot - some good, some bad, some trying.

We're all glad you are around to provide interesting comments and support.

I'm with Almtnman's comments on support of our military. Comments by those that wish to "support our troops, but not the war" are just words falling on deaf ears here. If a person had a nickle for every time those words were heard, they would own Microsoft. It is not supportive of our soldiers and their families, and the commitment and sacrifices they endure. If they would only stop short with their comment with "I SUPPORT THE TROOPS", then a person would feel a whole lot better about their comment.

bsb,

I just read your "bio", and I have to say you gave me a chuckle. Not because of the hard times you've been through, but because of the journey you went on to find the truth and Seventh Day Adventists are the ones that scared you!

I'm laughing because my mother had a similar journey after she left the Catholic church. She was on a quest to find the truth and got into the occult, ie...palm reading, reincarnation, fortune tellers, seances (in our house! Now that was scary), :o etc..

It was a Jehovah Witness woman who told my mother that those things were wrong according to the Bible, and my mother not wanting to offend God, repented. She started reading the Bible, went to a Seventh Day Adventist Church, met a man an married him. After several years she learned more and had enough of Ellen White and left that church too. :D

She ended up just studying the Bible for herself, and teaching us everything she learned and we are all Christians.

We may not all take the same path, but we are earnestly seeking the Truth, the Bible says we will find it.

Jer 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find legitlinda , when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Glory to God! Amen!

I can't help it, I'm still laughing! My mother had us drinking Postum, their coffee substitute. My mother also dragged me and my very Catholic Mexican best friend to one of those seminars too. She went home and told her mother, "That's it, we're all going to hell"! :lol2: Needless to say her mother wasn't very happy!

We were only 17 or 18 and that lead us to the "eat, drink, and be merry, for tomorrow we die", mentality. All the while knowing that God was watching us, and He obviously watched over us because we got ourselves into some situations that could have gone very bad for us. He finally won us over and here we are. :D I always say "I came into the Kingdom kicking and dragging my feet".

I have to admit though, on the surface we learned a lot about studying the Bible and Revelations through that seminar.

I truly only learned fear - fear God's wrath....The movie was the most violent movie I had seen in a long time! It's message was - if you don't do what we say - God will destroy you....it showed people dying of diseases, fire and brimstone, it was unbelievable.....It was a long time ago...I don't remember everything - but I remember booking out of there the second I had the chance - Lots of young families there too....scary

Hey guys it's me. I left the RLibs off cause it's just too much to type and we are all brothers and sisters anyway :D

I never really introduced myself on CDB. I'm married, three kids - 17-girl, 20 and 24-boys. I work a full time job and a part time job. I love the part time job and do it for fun as much as the money cause it's with a great group of people.

I don't think I've ever really been liberal even tho many in my family were. When I was younger, much younger, I used to say I didn't really care what people did as long as they didn't hurt kids, the elderly or animals. Then I had kids of my own and got smarter!! I like to say "we" vote as a family block. Me, my husband and the two boys and my husband and I try to go vote together. Kind of a family time thing? My daughter leans to the left and the oldest one doesn't really seem to care about politics. My middle one is so far right he scares me sometimes, but he's a good compassionate boy and is fortunate that at his age he knows what he stands for and is not afraid to stand up and say it. The lib teachers in college don't scare him a bit.

I'm an Episcopalian and love the Episcopal Church and it's traditions. My daughter and I sing in the choir on Sunday, but I'm not real happy with the Church I'm in and I think I might start looking for a new one as soon as my daughter goes off to school, she's a senior this year. It's a tough decision cause I'm attending the Church I grew up in. It's and innner city Church and they have some great outreach programs for the community.

I'm glad I was able to find ya'll and look forward to the conversations. Now if I can find the correct button I can post this!

Howdy all.
I lived a rebellious life until Oct.1995 when at the age of 44 I received Jesus as Lord and Savior. The Savior part was easy. It's keeping my butt off His throne and letting Him be Lord of my life that's the day to day struggle. But He is faithful to complete the work He has started and praise God won't share His throne with anyone.
Now 11 years later I am involved teaching in the kid's ministry and doing worship with the kids as well as various other things at my church. Same church fellowship that held the crusade on the beach 11 years ago. They are my family.
I pray America will repent and return to God so God can continue to Bless America.

Hello, my name is Marnie (Sunshine). I will start off by saying Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I believe the Bible. I am very patriotic. I am married a 100%Total and Permanent Disabled USMC Combat Vietnam Veteran. My husband and I met 12 years ago. I placed an ad in the personals and he answered it. We both lived in Virginia at the time. We have been married 8 years going on 9 in March. We have a 20 year age difference and we are very close. He is my rock and I love him. We have seen the good and bad times together and that is what makes us close. I am for the 2nd Ammendment. I have never been a Dipocrat and I never will. Veterans have a soft spot in my heart and I will continue to thank Veterans for their service and for my freedom . God Bless you all. I am so happy to be a member of this forum . Today is my 39th birthday and I still have a lot to learn. I know I will learn a lot from you wise folks here. I love to make people laugh. Laughter is the best medicine. AbidinHim, glad to see you here, I always enjoyed what you had to say and I am right there with you as a fellow Christian.

So, I'm thinking that I need to set up a Prayer Room topic area so in case anyone wants to ask for a prayer, there will be an area for it. How about the topic being Prayer Warriors, does that sound OK?

I was raised as a church goer and admire those who are still regular. For a number of reasons, mostly concerning preachers, I choose to worship outside the edifice of a church these days. Know too many rich or scoundrel preachers. That too is a profession that seems to invite those that don't care to sweat for a livning and I know they aren't all like that. Enough of them are though and like Muslims, I don't see the good ones cleaning out the bad ones - that makes them all one to me! No bones to pick with churches or people in them, just everyone does some things different.

Hello All!

Recognize lots of you, so this may feel a lot like "home"! I was born and raised in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Grew up in a loving home (my parents have been married for over 50 years!) that was Christ-centered. Got married out of high school, and that lasted about 8 years. I have 2 sons from that, which I ended up raising on my own. I am real proud of my boys today. Both are good men that love the Lord. My oldest works as a prison guard and my youngest is a police officer.

Been through a lots of ups and downs, but Christ was right there with me and brought me through. I always put Christ first in my life, and everything else fell in to the right places! Today I am the director of a non-profit domestic abuse/sexual abuse center. I feel this is a mission field that God has led me to, and will continue the work there as long as He tells me to stay.

Almtnmn, I am so glad someone posted a link to this site. I have had you in my prayers since your surgery earlier this year, and also your mom. I love the idea of the Prayer Warriors topic, as prayer is very important to me. I have a magnet on my fridge that I have had since my boys were little, that says "We don't believe in miracles in this home, we LIVE by them!"

Sunshine, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! smiley-cool-party Hope it's a great one for you!

Looking forward to talking to all of you soon!

Thanks ever so much Carolina Sue. I have seen many prayers answered, some later than I wanted and some within a few minutes, so it's God's Will when he answers them and I accept his Will and His time.

I just got back after church from visiting my Mother for the day. I alway seem to leave there with a sense of hopelessness these last few days as she is going downhill fast now. I'm not even sure if she knows I was there anymore. At least I knew that I was!

I truly believe that she knows you were there. We went through something similar with my grandmother. She had Alzhiemers the last several years of her life. She lived with my aunt, and my dad would go weekly (sometimes more) to see her. As a little girl she was afraid of men, and when daddy was there she was so afraid of him cause she didn't know him because fo the disease. As much as it hurt he still kept going. She had a stroke right before she died, and for some reason (a miracle form God?) she knew everyone of us and called us all by name and spoke to us before her death. When she seen my dad, she said "My little Johnny, I've missed you so! I knew you were coming to see me but I couldn't say anything." So I believe that even though they may seem unaware, on some level they do know we are there. Don't know why I felt the need to share this, but I hope it helps.

Hey guys!!!! Lots of familiar faces??!! well member names anyway!! Here goes, I was born and raised in the hampton roads are of Virginia. I currently live there with Stephanie, my wife and two children, Carson, my daughter is 11 and Campbell, my son is 6. I have pretty much always been a conservative according to my views. I believe in the 2nd amendment, God and Country, The military and the job they are doing as I write, Jesus Christ, my savior and Lord, the institution of marriage, that life begins in the womb, long walks on the beach, sunsets.......uh oh, that's another thread.

I didn't find God until I was 29 years old, quite some time ago. I was pretty heavy into alcohol, smoking dope and just about anything else that came down the pike. As I sat in my 2 room apartment all alone, I realized that I needed something more and I was trying to fill that void with everything except what was missing......God and His love for me. I turned my life over to Him and He hasn't let me go and never will!!

I am a Police Sergeant by profession and as some of you already know I play drums/percussion in a Christian group called "Ancient Men", hence the user name. Thanks for inviting everyone over. I for one appreciate it. I wasn't looking forward to not reading what you guys write.

I'll close by saying I look forward to the discussions with all of you here!!

Along the line of welcoming everyone, I would point out that this forum has a diversity of topics that wasn't in the CDB forum. There, it was about music or Charlie and that was fine as far as it went. Here, you will find as diverse a set of topics as you could wish for. I am something of a camera buff and I welcome each and everyone of you to post information, questions, photos or most anything else that is photo related in the Digital and 35mm Cameras Topic. That is a subject that we are all interested in to some degree and I'm sure that many of you have stuff you are proud to show.

I see you and I have a few things in common. I used to be a policeman myself many years ago. Took the Sgt. exam and passed it but left the force before being promoted. Then I worked 30 years in a steel mill for the big steel company that has headquarters in PA. I'm retired now and enjoying this part of my life. As you have probably guessed I like computers and making them do things for me. I spend a lot of time on them and enjoy doing so. I have meet many friends all over the planet by utilizing the computer. So of them have become regular email friends and have even invited me to visit with them if I ever get to their part of the country. Right now though, I'm sort of staying close to home.

Glad to have you here with us! :D

:banana-man: Hey ya'll,

It's me IDKY. Which stands for, I Don't Know You, the words I fear most spoken by Jesus on the day of judgement. I chose that as an intermanet handle because I can go off real quick and needed something to remind me to be nice to the PSPPLS ( poor sick perverted pinhead liberal souls) that will no doubt get me going with just a few comments on why there is no God.

Why do I feel like I'm at an AA meeting right now? I'll be 49 tomarrow and like some of you, I have done more than my fair share of testing my guarding angel. I was never much of a pot smoking left wing liberal hippie. I was more of a pot smoking no wing redneck southern rocker in the 70s. I grew up in a Catholic house , but never was into people telling me what to do, so It really never took hold of me or I it. Some folks just meet Jesus later in life I guess. I'm not knockin Catholics. some of my best relatives are Catholics and I'm sure I'll see them in heaven if I make it. I got saved after finding myself in a pretty deep hole at the age of 19, and like most who have been saved at the age of 19 from deep holes by the hand of God, I just kept finding myself in holes for a few years until the youth thing wore off. I think I'm okay for right now. It's watching my dad at age 77 that has me worried about the old age thing to come.

I have had so many jobs in my life, and a few of them I actually quit before getting fired. I really don't like folks telling me what to do. At last count I have lived in over 60 houses and 3 tents in the last 49 years. I used to get happy feet real bad. It's gone away since getting married for the first time 7 years ago. My wife and I have 2 young children one of each kind ages 6 and 10.

In 1995 I left the National Park Service after about 10 years of rangerin to start my own business. I really didn't even know what type of business I was going to start. I just knew I was tired of people telling me what to do, and with me wearin a gun at work, I just thought it was in thier best interrest if I left. Two weeks later God and I started tinting windows on tractor trailers behind a truck stop in AZ. and the business has grown into a retail gift shop/ comedy CD production/ DVD production/ranching/hunting operation. I have learned that when ya go into business with God, there's just no telling what he's going to want to do.

Ron it's GREAT to see you here!!! smiley-bouncin

I must admit I have never gone hunting but where I now live alot of people hunt. Two of my kids have already gone hunting so I'm sure my turn is not far away.

Even though I've not been hunting I do love Mountain Men so hopefully that gives me some brownie buttons.
