pain after discogram

Hi
I had my discogram last Wednesday (27th) and had increased pain initially, which eased to my normal pain over the next 2 days. At the weekend I woke in the night unable to move due to severe pain in my lumbar spine and pelvis.
I have been taking increased dosages of my pain relief as advised by my GP, and Diazepam added today for muscle spasms. I have tried heat and ice to no avail.
I have contacted my neurosurgeon who has advised rest for 2 days whilst monitoring my temperature, and if still bad on Wednesday I have to go in for blood tests to rule out an infection.
Ha anyone had an infection after discogram? I don`t feel like I have an infection, just severe pain.
Thanks

It's difficult to say, my wife is in hospital and had a fractured femur and she has picked up an E. coli infection from the surgery.

Anything that is invasive in your body can cause an infection. But maybe it's just a disturbing of the muscles and nerves around whether discogram was done.
Best,

Hi
Thanks for your reply. I hope your wife is ok and feels better soon.
I was asked to attend for an urgent MRI scan on Thursday and had bloods taken then. I am due to see the neurosurgeon on Wednesday to discuss result etc. My back pain is slightly improved but still a lot worse than before the discogram. I guess it could be a coincidence but I will find out soon. I am hoping he will be able to tell me about my discogram results also.
