I bought a TENS machine many years ago & found it really helpful with relieving pain & a good alternative to medication. I personally don't like taking medications for long periods & usually only take them when in acute pain.

Have a look at this for further information www.nhs.uk/conditions/tens/Pages/Introduction.aspx
First serious back pain and sciatica 2001
Chiropractic, yoga, reflexology & massage for many years.
First MRI scan 2005 showing prolapsed disc & stenosis at L4/5, spinal fusion declined.
Further scans 2008 - treatment for stenosis urgent. one hospital offers fusion, which I decline.
21st Aug 2008 - stenosis removed, disc pushed back into place and coflex device fitted, Mr Shackleford (NHS)
10th March 2016 - 2 level disc replacement L4/5, L5/S1, Mr Shackleford (NHS)

Tens machines either do the job or don't do the job one of the two :-)
