There seems to be more and more people who live in Spain who I hear have bad backs so with the blessing of Alastair I am going to try and put some information available.

DOCTORS

Private Medical Surgery: one of the surgeons I have dealings with and who has an excellent reputation is Miguel Orozco - you will find him on the internet quite easily, he is a Neurosurgeon.

Private Medical Surgery: Juan Antonio Martin Benlloch: he is an orthopaedic surgeon

Both work out of Valencia - These are the two surgeons who have the highest of reputations.

I personally was sent to Clinica Benidorm for MRIs and X Rays and I understand that this is one of the hospitals that is trying to combine holidays with surgery lol

I had a complete back scan with both MRI and X Ray and a report which came to 1,500€

I DO NOT HAVE PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE.

If anyone needs to contact me (I have had "Inspace" an Interspinus distraction and decompression which was done by Mr Shackleford. Dr Miguel has told me that stabilization should have been done at the same time as decompression, (I also went private with no health insurance) so now I have to find 16,000€ out of my savings. Not funny.

The Valencian Health System is probably about the same if not worse that England but the private sector is excellent.

So hopefully if you are in the Valencian Province please add to this posting and let us know how you are getting on. What you need help with etc. - I think there will be a lot of people here who would be grateful for the help.

After being messed about by my doctors in Kendal for many years I went privately in 2009 with Mr Shackleford. Because of my age I couldn't have ADR instead he decompressed L4/5 and L3/4 Still got issues: sciatica, groin pain. Seeing consultant in February in Spain where I now live. We will see ....................
