Well it was nine weeks post op yesterday actually. Where did that go? I feel like it was much longer and keep expecting more from myself but it's still only a matter of weeks since surgery & i just don't 'do' patient. My follow up was this morning & xrays but they only took a few images so i decided not to buy the CD until my CT scan in 4 months because then i can have the whole set rather then paying £20 just for 3 images. Surgeon is happy with the xrays & everything is still where it should be but no sign of fusion yet, i think maybe i was being too optimistic because i honestly expected it to have started fusing by now. They have worked out i have a 1 Kilo of Titanium inside me now. They've told me i am thinking too far ahaed and need to look at it as being like having a broken pelvis in 2 places which is going to take months rather then weeks to heal. I'm ok about it and can see that i was just expecting too much too soon, but overall nothing bad had happened. My mum's treatment unfortunately stopped working & next week she starts a course of much more aggressive chemo which it is expected will have really scarey side effects which she hasn't had til now. Things are about to get a lot tougher by the looks of it but it can't be avoided sadly. Hopefully the new drugs will be the ones that make the difference. Anyone fancy a go at being me? lol Mark.

I'm really sorry to hear about your mum, Mark, these are very difficult times but even more so for you - being her carer and going through it yourself. It is good that everything is in place and my God, if only you could sell all that titanium!! Try and keep positive - you WILL get through it all, something gives us strength to get through these very, very trying times. Love Gilly xx |

Hi Mark, I'm sorry your Mum faces more chemotherapy and I do hope the side effects are minimal for her. She must be proud to have such a caring a son. Good news that your surgeon is pleased with the you, you'll just have to wait for the fusion to occur, no choice in that. I will be interested the the images if you get them next visit, just to see where all that hardware is positioned. Take care Mark Lynda |
