hi everyone, im getting a lot of nerve pain in my legs since the 2 level adr, Mr S said that if it happens to ask gp for prebagablin. i went to the gp yesterday and she was unsure of how much to prescribe and after she talked to another gp they prescribed one tab per day 25mg, and told me to wait and see how i get on. i took the tab last night and it worked wonders, but ive woken up with pain again this morning. im trying to hold off taking todays tablet until tonight so i am out of pain later and able to get some sleep. But my question is: is there anyone on here thats been prescribed prebagablin after a two level adr,and how many mg was you prescribed. Im just thinking that if it is possible to have a higher mg throughout the day i may phone Mr S secretary and ask them to ring my gp to advise on increasing the amount. Thanks x |

Hi, I'm on gabapentin which is similar in its action to pregablin. I can't give you any medical direction but I do know that I had to take an increasing dose at timed intervals for 2 weeks plus for it to start working. Your GP should find out more information on dosing if they are unsure what to do. My local pharmacist is very good at providing advice which I have relayed back to my GP. |

Hi Lois I have been on Pregabalin for 4 or 5 years for back and leg pain. I have been presciribed as much as l75mg morning and evening so I don't think it will do any harm to take your dose twice a day, it is different to pain killers. It should give guidance in the patient information leaflet in the box. I have recently gon onto Amitryptalin so have managed to reduce my pragabalin to 75mg twice a day. Hope this helps. |

Hi Lois Sorry you're suffering leg pain, its not unusual following lumbar disc replacement. 25mgs Pregabalin daily is a low dose, are you sure its not 25mgs three times a day? I was prescribed 50 mgs three time a day for starters when I first tried it. Perhaps you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist who can give you specific advise as others have suggested. Hope you can sort out a regime which is effective for you soon. Regards Lynda |

May 2008 onwards - Lumbar facet injections - First post-op ones four years post surgery, have lost count of the number I've had since then but they do help. Hi Lois - I just thought I'd add my 2 pennies worth. I had ADR April 2009 & as I couldn't tolerate high dose Lyrica due to side effects Mr S put me on what he considered a low dose which was 75mg/day. I had a 25mg capsule three times a day. I started off on a 25mg capsule & increased it by a capsule every couple of days. Since I couldn't cope with high dose Pregabalin Mr S also put me on Amitriptyline at night which was a big help. As "techman" has said you can have a much higher dose but obviously that would need to be started & increased at a slower rate than I did. This is just my experience of it & I'm not medically qualified so you need to get it sorted out via Mr S/GP/Pharmacist. |

Hi Lois, Hope you manage to get a higher dose from your GP as everyone has said you are on a very low dose. I still take Pregablin since ADR in January at 75mg x 3 daily and it could have been increased. I call this my 'wonder' drug as I think I would have shot myself had I not been prescibed this post op - the benefits of in were instant!!!! Gilly xxx |
