Hi All Just a quick update on my progress. Things have slightly improved since last post but not by much. However I have learn't to adapt to my new me and feel so much better mentally. I am going for short strolls as I get tired and pains if I walk to far but thats to be expected so I don't let it get me down. I use the Wii board for exercise it's really good and has helped with my mobility. Still on reasonably high medication but if thats what it takes to keep me going I will live with it. I am in talks with a company about going back to work part time in the new year doing my old job of training. They are willing to let me to do as little or as much as I feel up to, i'm really looking forward to it as I have been missing teaching in a classroom. I am seeing Mr Wadley on 8th November and hope he agrees wth my plans [i'm sure he will]. I hope you are all doing as well as you can and I will keep you updated about my return to work. Regards Tony |

Hi all Saw Mr Wadley today, he said I am not likely to get any better then I am and that he has done his job and has discharged me from his clinic. He is pleased with the outcome from the op considering how seriously my spinal cord had been compressed. He is happy for me to return to work part time so all in all things are not to bad. So any further problems I will have to deal with them with my GP. All the best to you all Tony |

Hope things go smoothly when you return to work. I'm not as clued up on cervical as I am on lumbar surgery but is 4-5 months the optimum recovery time for cervical? |

Hi Ruth Thanks for reply I will be taking it very slowly when I return to work, i'm only going back for my own sainity. As far as recovery time is concerned I think it is mainly down to the individual whatever operation you have. Mr Wadley told be it could be another 6 months before we know how much better I am going to get if anymore at all. So I have decided I have to adapt and do the best I can with how I am. I am still in pain 24/7 but meds keep the level to bearable, I also still have alot of mobility issues particually in my legs, I can't walk very far and only then using a walking stick. So I have not recovered as such but have taken on a new mental attitude towards it. I may find going back to work to much but I won't know till I try it. Regards Tony |

There's still the chance of more improvement then which is something to hang on to. Hope 2011 is the start of new beginnings!
