The encounter at Starbucks was still fresh in his mind, sure a day or so had passed, but a lot had happened. He had pretty much been accused of wanting to start trouble, then found out his accuser was a hero himself, and also met a great young woman. Though his conversation with Nathaniel didn’t start out ideal, it lead to some good discoveries and did allow him to get a lot off his chest, plus he had been introduced to Kate whom he was hoping he could see again soon. Though he decided he needed to sideline that conversation for now, he did need to get a few things before returning to San Francisco; which luckily was a lot quicker of a trip than it use to be.

”I probably need to get some new clothes, these jeans have seen better days, and I definitely need more options in general. Let’s see, any good shops around here?” He spoke mostly to himself, running through a small checklist in his mind, most of which didn’t have to be bought before he returned back.

Walking down the sidewalk, he kept looking at the various shops, reaching into his pocket to pull out his phone. It was old, definitely not the latest model, and was likely due for an upgrade after all it’s been through. Though it hadn’t served much use while in space, it had suffered damage and had cracks on the screen, as well as a few minor dents on the back. The thought of replacing it now did cross his mind, but he really didn’t feel like going through that headache right now, partially also because that’s something he’d rather do back home. Pocketing the phone after making sure there weren’t any new messages, he found a clothing store that didn’t scream ‘clean out your wallet’, and made his way towards it.

As Luke got older he also grew and as such there was a consistent need to go clothing shopping. In order to know what would look good on him and what would fit the little tyke was constantly with her whenever the ashen female did go shopping. New York was still not a very forgiving or mutant friendly place but there were some places she could go without the need for an image inducer. Yet out of the sheer dislike of those things she never wore one and constantly had people throw her out despite there not being any signs. "NEXT TIME PUT UP A F---" The mistress of metals stopped for a moment and looked over at her son who was crying in his stroller. Sighing heavily she continued. "PUT A SIGN IN THE WINDOW!" Her tone wasn't as angry as it had been before and after heading away from that store she pushed the stroller out of the way to lift Luke out and hold him. "I'm so sorry for getting angry baby..." She twisted her body slightly from side to side at the waist and patted his diapered behind lightly.

Next time she needed clothing she'd just head to San Francisco in Edwin's car with Luke in tow. She knew that as long as she left a note or a text on his phone that Edwin wouldn't care. He'd find another mode of transportation without any fuss. Besides Edwin knew better as Dia already had one fussy man in her life, she didn't want another.

While comforting her child Dia noticed a familiar face, "Frost?" Her voice was raised only for the sake of getting the man's attention.

As Tom had been walking towards the stores, he noticed several had signs stating no mutants were allowed, something he honestly never had to deal with. He was fortunate enough to have a ‘hidden’ mutation when he had one, looking like an average person when he used his powers, though he no longer held an active X-Gene in his body. He recalled countless friends that had obvious mutations, like Dia and Maya, a bit of anger rising at the thought of the prejudice of humans. As he reached for the handle of the door, he heard a familiar voice call him something he hadn’t heard in years, Frost. Looking around, he found the familiar ashen skinned woman, though holding a child he did not recall her having. Letting go of the door, he made his way towards her and smiled, looking at the child for the most part.

”It’s been a long time Dia, and I see you decided to settle down. Who’s this little guy?” His voice was gentle, though when he addressed the child his voice became a little goofy and silly, able to tell he was slightly upset.

Though he was very curious who the father was, that wasn’t information he needed to know at this exact moment, so his concerns quickly shifted to catching up with her. As far as he could tell, the child didn’t have any form of mutation like Dia, though he also knew it would likely remain hidden until his X-Gene activated; assuming he had one. He knew it was very likely he wasn’t even a mutant, even if his father was one as well, he knew families that both parents were mutants yet he children weren’t; or even human parents having mutant children. Shrugging off the thought, as it made no difference what he would or wouldn’t be, he looked up at the sky and sighed gently.

”A lot has changed in these past two years, almost feels like I’m returning to an Earth that isn’t my own, but I’m glad to see you’re doing alright Dia.” His voice grew a bit distant as he spoke, as if reflecting on a thought, but he smiled and returned his gaze down towards the pair before him.

It seemed like forever since the last time she saw Tom but in reality it had only been a couple of years. Still it was good to see him and when he walked up to her she noticed he seemed to be in a good place. The last time she saw him he was shy and though there was still that shyness about him it wasn't as severe as last time, last time she partially wondered why he joined the X-men at all if he wanted to be an introverted hermit. Also last time she had heard through the grapevine he was dating Jubilee and had managed to piss off Edwin, the first was probably a done deal and though she was sure that Face would forgive Tom she knew that he'd have a few words to say before any apologies were issued. That was her Edwin...the man she loved. It would have been easy for the mistress of metals to get lost in thought about how close her and her beloved were but right now it was time to pay attention. After all, it was she who called out to Tom and not the other way around so it would be rude to not engage in conversation with him.

"Seems like it's been forever but it's been what? Only a couple of years?" Shaking her head lightly she smiled as she was very happy to see him. She could still recall how he had tried to hit on her but failed miserably at it. "Yeah well when your heart cries out for someone you go after them and fortunately for me after so many attempts he finally realized his heart wanted to be with mine as much as mine wanted to be with his. As for this little one, boy he was a surprise." Denim orbs gazed down at her son still amazed that no only was Edwin able to reproduce again but that she was able to carry him full term. She knew that Luke was a mutant, perhaps it was mother's intuition or whatnot.

"Tom, this is Luke Goldman. Luke this is Thomas Anderson also known as Tom." Looking back at him she held a slightly embarrassed look. "I'm sorry for calling you Frost, I don't even know if that's what you're going by or not. Old habits die hard."

Tom could tell something was in her mind, she had that distraction about her, but he could only assume it was due to her child. He was wondering whom the father was, for as she spoke, she seemed happy about who it was. He remembered when he tricked to ask her out once, it not having gone so well on his part, but that felt like another life; and in a sense it was. Though he was still Thomas Anderson, the Tom that was Frost had died two years ago, and was replaced by the version standing in front of her now. He had seen a lot and experienced even more, and it was due to all that that he had emerged who he was now, and he smiled some as she spoke, lazily remembering days when he first joined.

”Yeah, something like two years, though maybe its been longer. I mean, you really don’t have a sense of time in space, so I’m not real clear how long I was gone.” His voice sounded like a man that was in thought, like they were remembering something that happened long ago but couldn’t quite grasp the details, and he wasn’t sure if she knew he was Quasar.

He though about how happy she was with whomever she was with, and his thought temporarily shifted to Kate, wanting to see their relationship take that course. Sure, he wasn’t exactly sure of their standing yet aside from having gone on a date, but he definitely was interested in seeing where it’d go. As she introduced her child, his jaw dropped a little, completely thrown for a loop. ”Goldman, as in Edwin Goldman? You and Face, I honestly never would’ve guessed that, but I’m glad you’re happy.”

With a slight face of shame, he hoped he didn’t come across as rude, and hoped she took it for the shock it was. ”I hope I didn’t offend, just shocked is all, anyways it’s nice to meet you Luke.” He took a pause and smiled some, looking over at Dia as he stood a little straighter and had a more serious demeanor. ”Well, Frost died two years ago or so when the Purifiers attacked, and after humiliating me by ripping my wings off, they depowered me and ‘welcomed’ me to humanity. Since then, I’ve been traveling the universe stopping cosmic threats and embracing my role as Quasar, which I admit wasn’t that easy. I missed Earth, mostly the food and people, but I missed that stability of life here.”

She recalled the days when he could turn into a dragon and how she thought he was not bad looking but also how any feelings of attraction couldn't be acted on due solely on the fact of: timing. It was probably for the best as explained he had been in space for the years he was gone.

"Heh, loosing a sense of time happens on Earth all the time. Easy enough to do when busy." Some even expressed how quickly a day would pass, especially if they were busy almost the entire time. Besides, Dia didn't want to admit that she hadn't noticed how long he had been gone though it was pretty obvious with the question regarding time she asked. Oh well.....it had been asked and answered, no use in thinking about it any longer.

"Yes, one and the same." She smiled widely and shook her head, "no offense taken. Honestly we've been getting that more often then you might think. It doesn't matter really, what matters is that we found each other and are happy. I feel...whole with him and Luke is a major bonus in my life. I don't know where I'd be or what I'd be like without either." Though likely she would be with the X-men and off fighting villains, protecting the innocent and all that. Not that that life wasn't fulfilling but now with a new purpose she found herself to be ecstatic about the future. Before she was content but now the mistress of metals was so much more.

"I'm sorry that happened to you." The purifiers made mutants out to be a disease and though words were just that the purifiers often went beyond. They had recruited her two older brothers and helped them kill her youngest brother. All the acts they did were unforgivable and there was a slight twitch of 'if they ever touch my son' that the ashen female fought to keep in check. Her family was one thing as they wouldn't kill her offspring but would hurt him, but the purifiers didn't care one iota. To them every mutant deserved death.

"Oh man I would definitely miss the people and burgers. Can't go wrong with blue cheese, haystack onions, bacon, and a well done patty."

”You’re right, I guess it’s just as easy to lose track of time here, and I’m sure time passes just as quickly with a baby.” He laughed, honestly still coming to terms with Dia being a mother, especially with Edwin being the father.

Just two years ago things were entirely different for Dia and Edwin, but then again, this just went to prove what could transpire in two years time. To top it all off, there is no telling how long any feelings have been growing, so perhaps feelings have been growing for some time now. In the end, it wasn’t all that important, all that was important was how happy Dia was and how she felt. She was happy, and clearly she felt something she had t since he knew her, and he saw a new side of Dia he hadn’t seen as far as he could remember.

”At the risk of sounding masochistic, I’m glad it happened, it forced a growth in me that I needed. If I hadn’t suffered that humiliation, I’d likely still be the arrogant ‘kid’ I was back then, and I wouldn’t have embraced these Quantum Bands in the way that I did.” His voice seemed a little distant, though in the way that would come across as reflective, as if he were thinking about what could’ve been.

At the mention of food, his stomach rumbles and growled, having not really eaten yet today. He couldn’t help but picture a BBQ bacon burger with cheddar and fried onion strings of it. His mouth almost started watering at the thought, his facial expressions hinting at him zoning out a little, but he snapped back to reality before going too far into the food fantasy. Looking down at Luke, he couldn’t help but returning to the thought of what his powers might be, or even if he might have them. Though, to be entirely truthful, the prospect of Luke having the powers of both Edwin and Dia seemed rather amusing. Smiling back up at Dia, he stretched a little, considering lunch after.

”How is Edwin doing by the way?” He was truthfully curious how Edwin was doing, but on the same time, he wasn’t exactly sure how Edwin would feel about his return. Their last encounter hadn’t exactly ended that great, as he went off and did the exact thing Edwin warned him not to do.

“He’s growing so fast. He can crawl, say momma and dada.” She allowed the sentence to trail off in order to signify that Luke was, so far, hitting all the typical marks for a baby his age. It still amazed her how much had happened all in the span of two years. For years Edwin and Dia had danced around having a relationship stronger than the ‘brother/sister’ one they were both comfortable with. Yet as they both grew older comfortable just wasn’t going to do and it was Dia who initiated things by doing something so out of her own comfort zone that it threw Edwin for a spin. Dia joined the SX to try her hand at being a double agent but after an argument with Edwin the mistress of metals came close to abandoning everything she held dear only to be rescued by Edwin. Typhoid Mary helped Dia on her journey and for that she was grateful and hoped there wasn’t any ill feelings.

Tom’s stomach growling brought Dia out of her trip down memory lane. Smiling widely she placed her hands on the handles of the stroller, “let’s walk to someplace that has food, it sounds like you might need some. We can talk while we walk.”

Once the pair started she turned her attention to the question about her husband, “he’s doing really well. He got some things that needed done done before Luke came around and though he’s still with SHEILD he’s rejoined the X-Men. So he’s sometimes on the West coast with Scott and the others and sometimes he’s with Flutter using magic and other things to take care of the creatures I don’t even want to think about.”
