When I first played this game, I really had no idea what to expect. The tutorial/starting cutscene explained basically everything, so I got used to it quickly. The controls are simple enough. Trigger buttons/B button for various time abilities such as fast forward, rewind, and zoom in. Then the control stick's for movement and the A button for jump and the X and Y buttons for punching and kicking. Simple enough to get used to. The story is good as well. You're sucked into a movie and you have to find your girlfriend and save her from the evil villains of the movie as the super hero Viewtiful Joe. It plays out like a movie most of time. It even says "Cut, cut cut!" when you die, like a director would. So you basically are just running from movie to movie in order to save your gf from what turns out to be your greatest hero... Audio was cool. I liked the voices and the music fit the game quite well. The sound effects were right on and some of Joe's one-liners got kinda funny, especially when he said "Yummy!" when he ate a cheeseburger. That never got old... There's even replay value to this game. Once you beat Adults mode (hard mode), you unlock Sylvia as a playable character, and in the PS2 version you can even play as Dante from DMC. So I give this game a 9/10, becasue I loved the grpahics, the story, the controls, and the gameplay all so much. This game is one of my all time faves. |

Excellent game. I couldn't agree more. The guardians were well done and tricky to fugure out. I really enjoyed the puzzles as well. Just wished the sequel was a bit better. |
