i cannot express this game in words. when i popped it in the first thing that came to my mind was that it was a failed rehash of the first one. its like what devil may cry 2 was to devil may cry 1. a complete failure. prince of persia 1 focused on environmental puzzles which were really fun to do because what may seem like a decoration at first could turn into the most crucial part of the level. prince of persia two tried to up its combat system up a notch by borrowing from the current action games. this is where they went wrong. they uped the combat from #1, but the combat in #1 was so poor that uping it up a notch simply was not enough. this is not the bad part, but to do this the developers took out some from the puzzle department. the puzzles that were so fun to solve in #1 are now dead and gone. they tried to put in more advanced combat mechanics and ended up screwing up what the game was meant to be. in simple words, this game is a failure. #1 had crap combat but great puzzles. #2 has less crappy combat but low quality puzzles. in games, its better to have one extreme over another. going 2 genres tends to screw up a game. prince of persia was meant to be a adventure/environmental puzzle game, they should not have added combat into it. combat is not prince of persias strong side and they should have tried to keep it the way it was. i give this game a 6/10 |

I agree for the most part, but disagree with the two genre take. The more variety in a game the better. They removed the brains from the game and gave it too much much brawn. Its really unbelievable the attitude change in the Prince as well. I felt like they didn't know what direction to take with regards to the style of the game they were creating. Take it for what it is and you will probably enjoy it. Its a hack n' slash with nothing new or innovative added to the game play and as Eugene stated. They removed the best part of the series. The Puzzles. In my opinion 7 out of 10 at best. A game a bit above average. |

The more variety in a game the better ^i respect your opinion but my opinion differs from yours^ variety is good but too much is not. a human being cannot be an expert at too many things at once. there is only so much one can handle. in this case, a game. you can have variety, but after a certain point, somethings gota give. everything has a price and something comes at the expense of another. if a game is to fit a genre it should stick with the genre and perfect itself in that genre. by doing this, the people who are drawn to that genre will be satisfied. for example. devil may cry 3 stuck with the action theme and perfected it. there is a reason why there is only one character in dmc 3. that is because they focused their entire project around that character. they gave him styles and multiple weapons and many many different combos and movesets for him. dmc3 has no aspect of adventure/puzzle/or rpg. therefore it is perfect in the action genre another example, death by degrees. it tried to be too many things and just failed miserably at all of them which adds up to an ultimately dissatisfying experience. i am not even sure what this game is supposed to be. |

and that my friend is why we keep getting the same old rehashed crap. Different name, same game as fifty others before it. Take a chance, try a new direction, mix up the genre defining elements and a create something we haven't seen. Boredom is setting in and very few games that are on the horizon barely bring my pulse to 60 bpm. Throw in action, puzzles, platforming and exploration. Oh yeah. Thats been done. Zelda. I guess they blew it with taking on a chance on that game back in the day. |

So Eugene, you think games should stick to one general theme and master it, rather than dividing its efforts in multiple themes... That's cool... BTW Kenny, LMAO! |

thats exactly what i think, thats why we have genres. having a perfected game of one type is better than having a mediocre mix up. for example dmc 3 perfected action. god of war tried to mix up action n adventure and ended up with a mediocre game. good but dissapointing |

That's what many games seem to be doing now... I guess they do it to prevent being "repetitive..." If you know what I mean... |
