Another Problem With Christmas; Not wanting to highjack OP's Thread.

OP in another Thread about Christmas relates how he tires of the World's attempt to take JESUS CHRIST out of Christmas.

I also have a problem during the Christmas Season, it's that the World loves to behold a Baby Jesus, a Child, for He poses no threat as a Baby. Christmas seasons last weeks on end. The World seems okay with that, but yet the World is not comfortable in seeing this Baby Jesus as He really is, as the Apostle John saw Him. Let us pause during this Christmas Season and behold the Baby Jesus as He really is.

In the first chapter of Revelation John hears and sees not Jesus the Baby, rather he hears and sees the High and Lifted-up One. Let us follow along and also hear and see our Glorious Savior and Lord as He really is.

Jesus Christ is:

Jesus is the faithful witness,
Jesus is the first-born of the dead,
Jesus is the ruler of the kings of the earth.
Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega - who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."

Will we dare hear and see Jesus as John the Apostle saw and heard Him?

~ John heard Jesus' loud voice like the sound of a trumpet,
~ John turned to see Jesus, His voice was speaking, John saw seven golden lampstands;
~ In the middle of the lampstands John saw one like a son of man (Jesus).
~ Jesus was clothed in a robe reaching to the feet.
~ Jesus was girded across His breast with a golden girdle.
~ Jesus' head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow.
~ Jesus' eyes were like a flame of fire.
~ Jesus' feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been caused to glow in a furnace.
~ Jesus' voice was like the sound of many waters.
~ Jesus' His right hand held seven stars.
~ Out of Jesus' mouth came a sharp two-edged sword.
~ Jesus' face was like the sun shining in its strength.

When John saw the risen and glorified Jesus, he fell at Jesus feet as a dead man. Jesus laid His right hand upon John and said, "Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades."

But isn't Christmas when we celebrate the "birth" of Christ and I look at Lent as a celebration of his adult life and Easter as a celebration of his rising from the dead and rising to his place with God the Father..

Karmasasha,

Please do not construe my comment as being anti-learning of the Life of Christ. It's paramount we study and understand:

> that Jesus was born of a virgin,
> that Jesus was flesh and blood,
> that Jesus ate, slept, tired, grieved, rejoice, etc.
> that Jesus prayed to the Father,
> that Jesus taught us about the Kingdom of Heaven,
> that Jesus taught us about the Father,
> that Jesus lived a sinless life,
> that Jesus was crucified and buried,
> that Jesus paid the price in full for our forgiveness of sins,
> that Jesus defected the Devil and his demons,
> that Jesus was bodily resurrected with a glorified body,
> that Jesus ascended in Heaven,
> that Jesus sent the Holy Spirit,
> that Jesus is now in Heaven as our Advocate and High Priest,
> that Jesus is.......(add to the list for I'm sure I missed many)

It sounds like you attend a Church which follows a Church calendar. That's fine, many do. And much can be learned following a format such as this.

Again though, most areas in the list above are in past-tense (exception being Jesus is now in Heaven).

IMO, seeing, knowing, fellow-shipping, worshipping our Lord and King in His present position of Authority as the Sovereign Reigning Lord God Almighty should be our aim and focus.

Then maybe it's just where I'm at in my life. Maybe people at my age are primed by the Holy Spirit for a sooner event of being with Him and seeing Him face to Face, than when folks are young. Now I not alluding to any physical indication to suggest that this is the case in my life, for I'm healthy. Nevertheless, to the older person, man's mortality is thought about more, and it's only natural I suppose to be thinking more about Jesus as He exists today and will forever more, than to spend too much time seeing Him as the Babe back two thousand years ago in that manger.

I not so sure Jack, that spending 5-6 weeks focuing on the Birth of Jesus is the most productive way to draw nearer to the Lord.

To be sure, His coming into this world, lowering Himself and taking on human flesh (the Creator putting on humanity) and being born as a Babe is indeed a most glorious event in history. It demonstrated God's Infinite Love for us.

Thanks JackA for a great reminder of what Christmas is really all about! It seems to get more blowed out of proportion every year with all the big expensive gifts. I for one am guilty of this and should spend more time celebrating the Birth of MY Lord and Savior!
MERRY CHRISTMAS! Its all about Him!
