I know this won't be popular here and IT IS satire so please read it as such. However, that said there is an element of truth in this little article. Bush, Republicans Sign Up for World's Largest Credit Card 11/21/04 WASHINGTON, DC President George Bush and his Republican allies in the House and Senate have signed up for a humongous credit card to cover the nation's spiraling debt. The credit card, issued by Carte Blanche, gives Bush and the Republicans a revolving credit line of $8.18 trillion and is backed by the full faith and credit of the nation's childrens' childrens' childrens' children. The president's father reportedly had to cosign for the card. According to federal accounting, the Bush administration has not only squandered the substantial budged surplus left by President Clinton, but has amassed more debt in four years than all previous administrations combined. "We as conservatives are devoted to limiting government and turning back the profligate social programs of past Democrat administrations," explained a White House spokesperson, "specifically by spending every dime of revenue, and then some, on world domination and tax cuts for the rich. |

In a somewhat satirical answer, I find it amusing how many Republican's blame 9-11, a recession, and the war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan for the ballooning debt. Especially considering that the current budget shows a deficit for the next 5 years (and that's only as far as they can forecast). My understanding is that the future cost for Iraq is not included in the budgets, so potential is for even larger deficits than budgeted for. One thing to note is that the debt is not expected to grow as a percentage of GDP (i.e. debt levels and GDP are increasing at similar rates). Matt |

While I voted for GWB and am proud to say so I can say there are some places where there is room for improvement. Not bashing Bush, just stating the obvious. |
