"Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you." Philippians 3:13-15 KJV I remember hearing Ziz Zigler talk about his early childhood and how his parents had been through the great depression. He mentioned his mother making biscuits once and they did not rise. He said they squatted to rise but got cooked in their squat. I think that is what often happens to individuals. Some situation comes along in their lives that knock them down from their goal in life and instead of getting back up they get cooked in their squat. Paul the apostle speaks about often being knocked down and always rising again, ie. "never being knocked out." Just where do you find yourself today. Have you been knocked down. Are you counting yourself knocked out? Are you cooked in your squat? Or are you putting those things behind you forgetting the past and look forward to the future; rising again? Yes some people do get permanently cooked in their squat. |

Thanks for this one PC. Just so you know....I not only don't stand in my squat, let along get cooked in it. We've got one chance at this life and I intend to live it to the fullest. Ain't got time for squat....ya know what I mean? |

Bobcatkitty, Yes I do understand and I agree. I too strive to live in the present with the future as my goal. I once illustrated this situation about getting "cooked in the squat" as one "driving in the fast lane while looking into their rear view mirror." |

forgetting those things which are behind is too often a great stumbling block to many. We should all try to make it a daily goal to be pressing toward the mark. If we allow ourselves to reach a place in life where we are finding more satisfaction in living in the past than in looking to the future then it is time to reexamine our relationship with our Lord.
