Season one episodes were on USA's Monday marathon today and as SoSueMe noted with "Semi-Professional", "Seizure" just has a shippy feeling to it. Some shippy suggestive points:

- Lots of talk about sex with dominent/submissive themes

- Goren and Eames reading Karyn and Kevin's letters and Eames saying "I need a cigarette and 8 hours of sleep" ! :D

- Bobby and Alex are sitting pretty darn close together in court during Kevin's bail hearing. Notice Alex's face when Karyn flashes Kevin. :lol:

-They are so cool and professional when they look thru Dr. Dwyer's secret stash of porn. ;)

-Alex tells Kevin that SHE wouldn't tell anyone if she had masochistic tendencies...even if she was going to marry the guy. ( Hmmm what secrets are you keeping Alex?)

-When learning Dr. Buchman told Kevin about Dr. Dwyer's kinks; Alex says "Isn't that a dangerous thing to tell a serial killer about a colleague? Not to mention bad manners!" :P

-Jack Gwaltney plays Kevin Riddick and later plays Boz Bernam. He is a good bad guy!

at the end-
Bobby: She wasn't driven to kill out of rage. She killed for love.
Carver: Love?
Bobby: It's a many splendored thing.

ETA: Thinking about this some more...I'm not trying to make a statement that s&m and sex= love. It's just that all the emphasis on sex is suggestive of an attraction and chemistry between B/A. IMSO And in the end...it was all about love for Katherine Dwyer too. (Although terribly misplaced)

well no arguments from me. "seizure" is a favourite early shippy sub-text episode here. :)

and i'm glad to have some company. honestly, the 'cigarette and eight hours sleep' comment makes me laugh slightly hysterically every time. what would you all say to a coworker who said something like that after reading sexually explicit bdsm correspondence?

okay, granted she was a Vice cop, and that was her domain -- weird sex. but still.

i think they're kinky. it's very lol.

ETA: bdsm is about power and trust. a true 'dom-top' is only interested in the pleasure / release / freedom he or she can give to or provide for their 'sub'. it's the 'sub' who is truly in control - and the fun is in how much control that partner allows the other to have. the 'sado-masochist sex' part is not the point, per se. sadly, we live in a world in which pleasure and pain become very confused for people.

That same actor was Boz Burnam? I wondered why he looked sort of familiar. I seem to be noticing lately how very many actors that I've seen on LOCI pop up on lots of other stuff now. I see a lot of ads nowadays for a new boxing drama that has that crooked cop from Amends (the one that was losing his sight) and also on that show is the guy who played the young jailbird/writer from Self Made.

But I digress.

And even more digression: Goren seems to perk up when a bdsm or a lady of the evening type is around. The one from Proud Flesh always cracks me up.

~~~~
As for Seizure, of course I live for the "I need a cigarette (I'm sure Bobby has a secret stash) and eight hours of sleep." That line goes on the happy list with "the sex is robust" from Semi Professional.
Now I have to go zapruder the look on Alex's face when the girlfriend does the courtroom flash.
All of you got me inspired to watch this again and there's a Goren/Eames touch! It happens as they're leaving the female doctor's office.
I learn so much here! ;)
I'm sure Kevin Reddick and Dr. Buckman weren't interested in selfless acts of giving or caring about Katherine Dwyer. Those are men who have to feel like THEY are in control. :angry:
so true.
neither of them cared about her - they were using her, and exploiting her 'weakness' (sub-maso needs / desires) to accomplish this. it is very different than a healthy, committed relationship in which partners play 'trust game'.
lots of doms don't even touch the sub (i have a friend who worked this job for a few years ... getting high-powered business men to clean her toilet while she verbally abused them. no touching whatsoever) - and lots and lots of dom-sub relationships are not 'sexual', like the one between the dom in 'proud flesh' and creepy icky Larry - who is NOT creepy because he's a sub. he's creepy because he's a self-absorbed misogynist. he sold his Chinese token 'playmate' bride. what kind of person does that????? he's icky. i've always thought it was too bad that Eames didn't get to smack him.
uh-oh ... thread crossover again. *sigh*
"seizure" is shippy. there. now i'm back on topic.
One step ahead of ya. :P
We've been doing a 'random' playlist of season one for a little bit now and plan to slowly work our way through, hopefully accidentally perfectly timing it so that we end at Loyalty just as season ten starts.
yeah that's what I decided I planned on doing... as soon as we knew it'd be March (right? :unsure: ), I plan to watch it all through before then... hopefully. idk, that's a lotta footage. and just watching it is one thing, zaprudering it is another completely... notes, screencaps, shippy observations, title meanings... and that's what I plan on doing. hence my post in Off Topic:
ef: I really do check every day, I just haven't been writing as much........ ugh I'm kinda at a weird place with my DVD's/eps right now, I'm not sure where to start, I bought season 3 DVD's but I'm not sure if I"m gonna continue with that or start over and do a more in-depth analysis of everything, or what. So i'm waiting it out till I figure it out. idk.
I wasn't sure if I wanted to take this all on. it's a big job and with my OCD I'm very thorough. but I think I'm gonna do it. now, just to start!
let's all remember that women have actually behaved this way ... Richard Ramirez ("The Night Stalker") had groupies, and he is one of the scariest killers in American history. the only good thing about his story is that he was captured by the outraged citizens of his own neighbourhood, who literally chased him down to the ground like the vicious dog he is, and held him until cops could arrive.
