I posted this yesterday on another thread:

Remember in "Pas de deux" The guy was sometimes called "Johnny" and sometimes called "Donny"? Maybe Moran's name confusion was just a writing fluke and Denny/Kenny is the same person.

ETA:
Check this out:

http://lawandorder.wikia.com/wiki/Pas_de_Deux

In the cast list, it says Johnny DePalma, but the last quote at the bottom, it credits Donald DePalma and Robert Goren.

*********************************

So today I am sitting at home waiting for a delivery (your delivery will be made between the hours of 11 and 3. Please have someone at home available... ) and "Pas de Deux" was on so I grabbed my zapruders and made notes.

The perp starts out as "Johnny" at the beginning and somehow turns into "Donny" toward the end. I even put on cc to be sure! OOPs!

That dance! It is one of those scenes you have to watch carefully, but check out the look Eames gives Bobby when the other guy is leading her onto the dance floor! She continues to shoot glances his way while he dances with Margie.

Bobby's description of Margie to Carver in Deakin's office: "The way she dodged my small talk. The way she tensed when I mentioned...her partner. Just the way she uh, followed my lead when we danced..."
This scene made me think about the discussion we had recently in another thread about Bobby's desire for someone who would submit to him, i.e. follow his lead. Hmmm. Heavy undertones with THAT in mind.

Love love love when Eames is bada$$ tough cop holding her gun and yelling "DROP IT NOW" to Johnny/Donny...and then a rare brief comfort touch and "are you okay?" from Bobby when she almost shoots him. ;)

I remember the first time I saw this how happy surprised I was when at the end Carver told Goren "I watched you very carefully" and Alex replied "Guess you watched the wrong detective".

There was a strong sense of teamwork and "loyalty" between B/A from this episode, like the cute undercover scene, her telling him "you know I'm good for the ride" when she was skeptical, and when she tricked Johnny/Donny in the end- you know they must have conspired.

Just wondering... if Margie was a high school chemistry teacher, how did she have time to run around taking her kids to the kiddie gym at various times, and take art and dance classes? She must have taken time off to stay home with the kids and ended up bored out of her mind. I think we would have had a better picture of how emotionally empty she was if she was referred to as a "housewife". (I know that the pc term is now "homemaker" and not all are depressed and bored, but it DOES happen.) Getting mixed up with Johnny/Donny wasn't smart, but I feel for her. Goren recognized that she felt depressed, trapped and numb. Her husband was clueless, but very forgiving. Their part of the story is sad. :(

Okay. Let me end on a silly note... I carry a backpack syle purse because I have 3 kids and 2 hands, and I like my $20 purse from Belk more than the $3000 designer bag that Johnny/Donny and Margie stole.

Hahahahaha!!! This cracked me up.

Well, I feel quite validated now that I see I've coined a phrase. Can world domination be far behind?

edited to add:

GF just watched this the other day and noted that it was a very shippy thing when Goren and Eames were parked by the bank waiting for Margie and her bomb. As soon as Goren figures she's in a waiting room strapping it on, he tells Eames "you take the bank" and leaps out of the car.

It's funny. If this had been a scene from a Lethal Weapon movie, Gibson and Glover would have been arguing over whose turn it was to be blown up or something. "No, YOU go in there." "Na-ah, I did it last time".

Because it's months later from the above ^^^^ and I'm the only one who writes in this thread, LOL -

The BALLS on that guy* who asks Eames to dance! He saw they came in together. I think Goren was even tweaking her arm to get her to the dance floor when the turdball came by and snatched her.

I've never been to NY so I don't know if these dance halls are everywhere or what. We don't have those here, that I know of. It would have been neat if there were places like that when I was trying to learn to dance back in high school days. Whether you use music videos or episodes of Seinfeld to try and learn what to do or not to do, it's can be a painful experience.

*he reminds me of the actor that played Tony Soprano's father and I always refer to this scene as "when Eames dances with Tony's father".

LOL I guess that guys motto is "you snooze you lose". Goren didn't get her on the dance floor fast enough! Maybe they do have those dance halls in NY. Bobby knowing how to ballroom dance is not unexpected but I always wondered that Eames was so smooth. She didn't strike me as the type of girl who would have wanted dance lessons, but maybe it is a given in the city.
My husband and I took ballroom dancing when we were dating and waltzed at our wedding. ;) Otherwise I dance like Elaine in Seinfeld!
:D  :P

Bwahahaha! (I'm laughing WITH you, not at you) ;)

It's not all bad though. Lack of dance halls and the secrets within is the main 'other' reason that all guys seem to only like the slow dances. :P

OT shippiness, I enjoy this episode because I have a hunch VDO had fun working with Charles Rocket and undoubtedly had a few cocktails with him after shooting. Rocket seems like a kindred spirit. I just looked him up to make sure he was the one I was thinking of who dropped the f-bomb during "SNL." Indeed he was, but I had no idea he was dead, by suicide via throat slashing in my very own state. That sounds very peculiar.

I like any episode where Bobby dances.

Wow, I had no idea who Charles Rocket was. Didn't know he was on SNL (waaaaay before my time). I looked him up and it turns out LOCI was his very last network television appearance. How freaky in hindsight is it that his plot line was about suicide?

That's a great point. How very odd.

An Alex to Bobby line I like (paraphrasing, as usual) from this episode: "That must be where the floor gets laid."

LOL Hahahaha SoSueMe! I saw this again and caught that too! We think alike! ;) In that same scene Alex is doubtful about Bobby's theory of Margie's involvement but she says " I'm good for the ride". Love the Loyalty and Faith they have in each other.

Strange about Charles Rocket. As a teen I started watching SNL during the Eddie Murphy years. Don't remember Charles Rocket though.

My hubby bought a larger screen TV with HD for Christmas (it was for ALL of us wink wink ;) ) Honestly I believe he would install a drive- in movie screen in the back yard and have us sit at the windows and watch with those little speakers if it were possible. What is it with guys and the size of their.... electronics? Anyway with this new and improved viewing I noticed a touch that I hadn't before. Have we ever mentioned that she touches him in the restroom when she is saying "lets call the bomb squad" and he is reaching for the case in the trash can? (I know that it's trivial but c'mon! A touch I haven't noticed before!)

Here is a video of Bobby dancing 'cuz we were talking about it before. Eames is in the background as per usual!

Here is Elaine dancing on Seinfeld if you haven't seen it.

lol :D Just got a flyer in the mail advertising ballroom dancing!
Foxtrot, Tango (but not naked), Cha-Cha, Carolina Shag, Two Step, Waltz, Rumba, Salsa.....
Wonder if they have a Marley floor?

first of all, I believe I've brought up his almost-tug on her arm before, one or more of you said it was not because he was about to dance with her, but because he was getting her attention - Margie just walked in or something. it's really hard to tell which one of these it is. I still don't know.

I never got the feeling that her dancing must have been the result of lessons, seemed kinda natural/amateur to me. Not that she did a bad job, quite the opposite. it just didn't seem that hard to me, that's all. idk.

oh skittles, "full-body dry heave" ~ LOL!!!!
and, yes I've noticed the touch in the bomb squad scene. One of my favorite scenes ever! classic early BA. back in those days things like this were rare.

<3

ETA: oh my gosh that dancing vid... ssooooo sexy ! he's dreamy, man.

Hi Skittles, I remember Charles Rocket on SNL. It was the year prior to the Eddie Murphy years. It was a really bad cast. They were all fired and replaced by the Eddie Murphy cast. I was watching when he dropped the F bomb. Sad about his suicide. Shame.

I think Murphy and Piscopo were part of the Rocket cast, but they weren't fired when the rest of them were. I remember finally being old enough to stay up for it during that time period and feeling very let down. Rocket probably would have fit in great with the Christopher Guest - Martin Short - Billy Crystal cast a few years later. It's a shame.

Oh my, Skittles, the video of Bobby dancing is to die for. He is just perfection. I must swoon, sorry.

I love that ballsy Alex scene too! we don't hear her yell very much, not nearly as much as B.

there are 4 touches in this one episode. I think that's a record so far. that's FOUR. does that mean something?
idk, I just have a feeling the title might have some connection here. (see titles thread page 3 if you don't remember this conversation) The title of this one could be like, the title of the whole series, that's how meaningful, and accurate in its parallel it is imho.

skittles you also mentioned two of the best scenes in this ep.
The bathroom scene. I love this one, how she almost manages to get out "do not...!" before he grabs that tag. blink-&-u-miss-it. that could also be the title of this series, haha.
I also really like in the second bathroom scene, Alex's face when Bobby dumps the crate of TP out. she just kinda smiles. it's cute.

and then there's the dance. Ok so I've figured out that I'm pretty sure "the touch" was Bobby alerting Alex that the "Tony's dad" dude was coming for her. His eyes go from her to the guy, kinda saying "there's someone coming". however, don't be disheartened, shippers!! there are some more subtle clues here.
Bobby's face. His face when they realize it's Friday and it's time for them to attend "dance lessons", their mutual awkwardness as they walk out onto the floor ssssooooo slowly, and his face as the other guy takes Alex away.
of course don't forget him looking at Alex before he spins Margie.
