This is one of my season 1 favorites because of how Bobby and Alex joke around with each other. You can tell they are friends and are comfortable with each other, especially in this exchange: Alex: The only money I ever got from my family was the 50 bucks my Dad gave me for my prom dress. Bobby: Is that the same year you were selling apples in front of City Hall? Alex: It was matchsticks, and it was snowing... (BTW We find out in season 2 "Bright Boy" that she was the prom queen. Or was she just being snarky and joking about that? Ah well- that is for another discussion...) Also: Bobby: One thing this line of work teaches us is that guys will do anything for love. Alex: And money. (He is the romantic, she is the practical one. <_< ) How about when Charlotte's neighbor told them that Charlotte said her boyfriend "traveled a lot" and Eames said "I've heard that before.". Could she be thinking of one of her married liars? The way Alex looked at Bobby when Carver was flirting with the lady to get the seminar info.... LOL And the good cop/bad cop routine when Cookie/Charlotte came in to talk to them was GREAT! I loved them both! Alex: Here she comes. Ready? Bobby: Yeah, Let's play! This episode does take such a terrible turn in the end. I can hardly stand to watch Bobby talk to Gerry with the 2 kids ...:( Alex was at her snarky best around this time! So much difference between this and her serious demeanor in later seasons after the kidnapping, going thru Joe's death investigation again, watching the man she loves go thru all his losses, the betrayal by Bobby, Mulrooney... She and Bobby seemed so happy in the early years even though they aren't as shippy. Often love relationships start out as friendships. My hubby and I were friends for a year before we went out on our first "date". Okay- Funny personal information- In 1986 my hair looked just like Cookie Caspari's!!! |

  And yes, yes, yes I LOVE those moments your talking about form "Phantom" They had this buddy-ship back then I just adore.I believe they were just friends back in the old days, their bond was starting to shape but nothing more imo. Talking about Eames being more practical... Your thoughts there remind me of "One" where Eames was like "...men come and go, but diamonds" and Bobby 'teaches' her "men don't keep you warm at night"... idk I just love how the ep ended there. They were always professional. However in the later years, they got even more so... The earlier seasons had more touching. Like somebody once put it, BA started to "loose their innocence" which resulted in this discomfort/extreme professionalism around each other... |

i'm sorry to have to correct you, but a slight mistake: it's diamonds don't keep you warm at night. and I agree, I like how their first ep ended with this. a good foundation. |

the connection between these two certainly came to my mind. I think the one in "phantom" is very shippy. It's almost like he's trying to tell her something, and she kinda shoots him down. like they're letting the audience know where these two characters are at. imo this exchange also reveals that Alex is just simply more jaded in love than Bobby, thus far. The shippy undercurrent from the previous ep (semi-professional) is continued here, you know, that "feeling to it". lotsa flirting. it makes me sad to know that this innocence will be lost later on. As much as that stuff helps bring out the ship, there's just something perfect about the pre-Nicole time, even. after that, everything just kind of gets a little messy. I hate/love seeing scenes from this early in fanvids on yt, the contrast is so stark. at least we know things are alright in the end... but not the same.-> we find out Eames if from a family of cops -> we find out she had a boyfriend who went to Kenya -> Question: when they're in Cookie's friend's house from the building, what does Bobby say the chick's cooking?? couldn't make it out... zapruder marathon Saturday! ![]()

The friend is making bouillabaisse. I've never made it but I had it in a restaurant. http://familystylefood.com/2009/08/julia-c...abaisse-recipe/ I think Eames was being sarcastic when she mentioned a boyfriend who went to Kenya... IDK... I like how Alex and Bobby do the Good Cop/Bad Cop routine on Cookie/Charlotte! Have fun Zapruder marathoning! Wish I could! |

Gotta treat yourself to some R&R! The b-baisse was fine but I'm more of a meat and potatoes kind of girl. I "Shoulda remembahed" to order a steak! (slow day here!) |
