The gf put an elbow to my ribs and said "you have to make a thread on that one".

Here is the episode wherein we learn Eames is pregnant. We learn that Bobby is perhaps not thrilled about it... nor maybe even Eames for that matter. We learn that Bobby is unprepared - "oh no, I didn't even think about that" - (that line alone screams for extrapolation and analysis).

We see Bobby wax almost poetic on Taj Mahal windows, and love.

We see a pregnancy (the killer); an unplanned pregnancy (the victim); a father denied paternity; a father rejecting paternity.

And then there's Eames being pregnant. All in one episode.

Analogy much, LOCI writers? :D

If anybody (shippers or NoRomos) had doubts on whether B/A have unprofessional conversations off-screen, well that line (the whole scene actually) should erase any shreds of uncertainty  B)
I love Eames expression when she says "...when the time comes, he'll hook you up with a temporary partner"; she just knew that he wasn't gonna like that news (well, duh)... It's like there's mixture of pride and amusement in her expression. Joy and satisfaction that he'll be missing her maybe.

Yeah, it's like he's admitting he's thought about the personal part of this so much that he's given no thought to the professional.

QUOTE: Deakins (bless him) is a seriously old-fashioned guy. his old-fashioned view of women comes up all the time. i imagine Eames would be an enigma to him, and i imagine that she'd be fine with letting him think what he wants to think.

When I watch this episode, I always think that Deakins is the ONLY one who could refer to Alex as "our gal" to Bobby.... and get away with it! I'd hate to see what she would say to anyone else. LOL

Deakins has 3 daughters. I think he feels a little protective over Alex.

definitely interesting that this ep is just so much about pregnancy. Simply drenched in it, in both the primary and secondary storylines.

I think the title's pretty loaded, too. idk whether we should discuss that here, or titles....

just perused the pregnancy thread quickly, this thread seems a bit obsolete now, haha... has it been mentioned how awkward the moment was when Deakins says his little "how bout our gal" comment and Goren is just silent - so Deakins jumps in with "what are those, nightclub stamps?" -- like Deakins could tell it was awkward for G & E both.
there's a goof in this scene btw... there's a wardrobe inconsistency between when Eames is walking, and when she's sittin down at her desk - still a dark outfit, but totally different shirt & blazer.

my hubby thinks 'the touch' in Laurette's office was a "wait a second!" on Bobby's part - like he was just getting her attention. sorry to be an aguafiestas, we don't have to agree with him! just lettin ya know.

This has undoubtedly been brought up before, but isn't it out of the ordinary for a surrogate pregnancy to be such a 'surprise', so to speak, as this one seems to be? (I'm setting aside the real life aspect, as the writers probably were surprised when they found out they had to write it in).

But in the 'reality' of the LOCI world where Goren and Eames live, it seems kind of strange to me that it was a surprise and/or an unwelcome event, to Bobby and Alex.

That's kind of what makes me not totally dismiss the whole baby-daddy thing. In my shipper heart (and even in my previous, rational, logical heart, LOL) I believe that this is a subject that would have been discussed at length by Eames and Goren. It was going to have a radical impact on both their careers. And clearly, Goren was not prepared... indeed, had "not even thought about it".

IDK.... Professional women, especially in a predominantly "mans" job, consider sharing pregnancy plans as career suicide. Ever watch "Sex and the City"? Miranda delays announcing her pregnancy because she would get taken off the boring cases and coworkers would start "eyeing" her office.

But I do find it hard to believe Alex wouldn't share her intentions with Bobby. And he usually thinks of everything......
